I wanted a small place for the rings and keys that usually end up scattered around the house. I had a flat stone at home and some wire, so I bent the wire into a hand and wrapped it around the stone. It turned out way more useful than I expected.

The same idea works with pretty much any shape—I tried a little cat too, because apparently one rock display wasn’t enough.

I turned a simple 5-meter string of fairy lights into a colorful garland using leftover beads from a kids’ summer camp. Took me about one Stranger Things episode. 😊 Now it’s going straight into the kids’ room!

Hi all! I wanted to share this laser cutter project I've been working on for a few months now.

I am working to make 4 mahjong sets for my mahjong buddies I play with every week. The goal is to finish everything by Christmas. 🙂✨ Each friend will be gifted their own unique set based on the 4 seasons.

It's my first time doing such a huge project, so I'm giving myself a lottttt of time. I spent the last few months thinking and designing a personalized set for each friend. The tiles took 2 months to ship to me by sea lol, so now that they're finally here, I've been really eager to get this project going.

For those of you who don't know much about mahjong, there are a total of 144 tiles. So it definitely took awhile to hand color all of these tiles 😅

This is the second set that I'm calling, "Water Lily Summer". The next one I will be working on this week will be the winter set. I will go back to the maker's space on Friday and hopefully cut the final set, autumn. Depends on if the tiles arrive when they say they will lol

It's definitely not perfect and I see mistakes, but I'm really happy how it's all coming together!

My process (photos near the end, I didn't take as many as I thought 😅)

Bought blank melamine Chinese mahjong tiles (40mm by 30mm)

Created and designed each individual tile 🫪

Used a CO2 laser cutter (Universal Laser Systems brand) to engrave my designs onto the tiles

Acrylic paint markers for color

Baby wipes lol to wipe away excess color

UV resin to seal it all

Im still doing the food wall in the kitchen, but want to do the hallway candyland theme.

I followed the same lady on TikTok that I used to make that chocolate chip cookie decor.

I took an old round silicone mold and put a small slit through it. I spray painted a wooden dowel that I got from Dollar tree to use for my stick. I slid the dowel in the hole and used masking tape to seal it off. Some still leaked but I think that's because I used some cheap masking tape.

I used 16 Oz of Let's Resin epoxy resin and some of their liquid dye. I wanted a deeper blue , but honestly like the transparent look as it resembles a real life lollipop.

Hi I hope this follows all the rules because I did do some of them myself and the flower pressing subreddit isn’t super active.

I have limited experience pressing flowers and got my wedding bouquet professionally preserved because I was worried I would mess it up. I preserved some of the flowers from table arrangements and bridesmaid bouquets. I feel like the ones I did myself turned out significantly better. I feel like the professional ones were preserved haphazardly and the integrity of my flowers were butchered. I also think they may not have actually been pressed because they are flat but I’m not sure how else they would’ve been preserved. I am not familiar enough with the craft to know for sure though.

That said I also have extremely high standards and issues with perfectionism and am aware that I may be being too harsh, so I was looking for a second opinion.

For context I paid over $550 for these and was told several of my flowers molded but I believe it was because she didn’t properly press them. I know for best results most larger flowers should be pressed petal by petal and that’s clearly not how she preserved any of them.

The professional ones are the first one and mine are the second. They are all the exact same except the garden roses that were professional preserved were cream and the one I did was pink/orange/yellow.

Few edits to add:

This was a local vendor and the flowers were dropped off by 9:00 am the day after the wedding. I am extremely familiar with flowers as they were one of the most important things to me because of my grandmas who are no longer here to celebrate. I treated them like a baby and they were in great condition.

The vendors name has “pressed” in it and she reference a press multiple times so I believed they would be traditionally pressed.

I paid cash. Was advised by an attorney to pay it and ensure they were back in my possession before complaining due to their irreplaceable value to me

I pressed mine with a traditional press from Walmart. Spent about 20-30 minutes researching the best method for each flower type. Learned almost all flowers press best is deconstructed in the press and then reconstructed when finished. This especially goes for bulky flowers like roses which should be pressed petal by petal to ensure they don’t mold.

I chose her as she did the bride of a couple my husband is friends with and my workers. I will give credit where credit is due, she is phenomenal at arranging the flowers once pressed. In photos at first glance they well done because of how they are arranged.

I don’t think she was familiar with several of the flowers in the arrangement.

I'm bad at drawing butterflies, so I made myself this movable model out of scrap materials for reference. I can fix the butterfly and its wings in any position. It's very convenient, and I like how this thing looks :)

I designed the pattern myself and wove it bead by bead using Japanese seed beads. The golden details reminded me of glowing embers, so I named the design Ember
It took quite a few attempts to get the pattern exactly how I imagined it, but I'm really happy with how it turned out

What do you think of the color combination?

I’m of course, not done yet. I will be adding a spiffy frame around both of them.

I bought some oval wood pieces from the craft store along with some 3-D ghost and pumpkin blocks, painted them along with the backgrounds and added some extra chain that I had from an old necklace to use to hang them

Hi! What do you think of these keychains? It's the first time I've tried them, and they're hand-sewn, not machine-sewn. I took inspiration from Pinterest :)

After experimenting with veneer lamps that reveal underlying patterns, I decided to try to implement some parquetry to make the outside more interesting as well.

These are done with cherry veneer taped into patterns and then glued to patterned cases I designed and printed.

The two in the front are using a Kumiko pattern, Asanoha, and a ceramic pattern from Puglia. Others I’ve done use American quilting patterns.

After gluing them up I lightly sand them and then finish them with Osmo Oil.

I made a bunch of these little cuties on a whim because my oak tree is going nuts (no pun intended) this year. I love them, but what should I do with them? Pendants? Ornaments? I don’t know.

I came up with these earrings design after looking closely at creatures from Hieronymus Bosch, Garden of Earthly Delights. And while I was soldering the bumps on these slick shells (not as easy as I thought), the bottom of one earring melted. I got frustrated and didn't want all the work to go to waste, so I cut off the melted part and added legs to it, as if one of them hatched! I don't know what these are, they kind of appeared on their own through an accident. As I keep making them, they turn different every time because of their legs being unique. The seaweed stand is handmade too, I used plywood and my jewellery tools.

I'm having a housewarming party next weekend with some friends (everyone is between the ages of 25-40), and I thought it would be cute to have some sort of craft that everyone can make that I can then display around my flat (or maybe even something they can take home with them). It can be wall decorations, knick-knacks, something to hang, etc. I don't really care, I just thought it would be nice to have something for everyone to do with their hands while they're here. But I am not very crafty, so I have no ideas. Ideally, something affordable and not too messy; my apartment isn't massive so nothing that takes up too much space either. Please let me know if you have any ideas of casual crafts that can be done while socializing! Thank you!

Any advice on how to best do a fake stained glass based on the image of the door at Bellesguard (Gaudi) in Spain?

I was thinking of an acetate or plexiglass stuck to the glass at the corners. I was going to practice on smaller pieces first. How good is adding glue or medium to acrylic paint or should I get gallery glass/pebeo glass paints? I have got pebeo cerne relief outline, which air dries.

Made with leftover materials from my wedding a few weeks ago and a styrofoam head

thanks everyone for your super helpful suggestions! I tried a few different things - adhesive vinyl and wallpaper (didn’t like that it left a line down the middle), PVC tube (couldn’t find one that fit properly and it added a lot of bulk), and ultimately ended up using heat shrink tubing! on top of the smooth finish, it’s waterproof and can be cleaned easily.

I wasn’t able to find an exact color match (pictured are all the shades of pink heat shrink I could find) so I went with the light pink. I was really intimidated doing nearly 4 feet of heat shrink at once, but it was really easy to work with! there were some areas that either had plastic that would have melted or needed to be screwed in so I used holographic adhesive film for those parts. the adhesive film is starting to peel a bit so I may redo this with adhesive vinyl.

I added a pink basket (meant for scooters, but also worked perfectly for this!) to hold supplies I need quick access to.

I also found some pink rubber end caps meant for electric plugs and added them to the hooks.

I’m still trying to figure out a way to make the knob and black ring pink, but I think I’m at the point of the craft where if I keep messing with it I will ruin it (something I am notorious for) so I may just have to leave it. I looked at various door/drawer knobs but it’s an odd size screw I can’t find a match for.

I wanted to swap out the wheels for pink ones but they are permanently attached.

I forgot to take a before picture, but the last photo is the stock photo from the website (the design changed a little, but it gives you an idea of my starting point).
