Hey again ArtStore community!
I’m sure you’ve all noticed the new look to the sub!
We’ve been busy at work making some adjustments and doing some autumn (or spring if you’re in the southern hemisphere) cleaning, and we wanted to go over the updates with you all quickly before we started implementing them.
Firstly, rest assured, this sub is still a place made to connect buyers to artists. This will not be changing.
What we are changing is the look and feel of the sub, the organization, and a few of the rules. I’ll make this as brief as possible, so let’s get into it.
THE RULE UPDATES
Let’s get this one out of the way. You can find the full layout of the rules here.
Rule changes;
- The post flairs have updated. Each flair type has some small requirements. For example, “SELLING” posts need to tell people a price and how to buy what’s being listed. Easy, right? We’ve done our best to keep them simple and to the point. Just the information that’s been proven to get you more buyers.
- If you’re posting NSFW content, you’ll need to use the NSFW filter. We don’t want to have the sub accidentally tagged by Reddit as a NSFW sub, or turn away potential buyers. If you want to avoid the NSFW filter but you do NSFW commissions or sell NSFW pieces, censor the piece or post SFW images with a note that you do NSFW work as well.
- We do not accept NSFW or sexually themed images of characters who appear to be minors, even if it’s “just the style”.
- No “emergency commissions”. Everyone here is working for money, and we’re sorry, but too many people abuse this title.
- This was already a rule, but we don’t allow AI. No AI. Not at all.
If you’re worried about the updates, or you’d like some clarification, send us a ModMail. We’re happy to clear things up and adjust as needed.
A SUB FOR BUYERS
Let’s be honest. Sellers are a dime a dozen, as they say.
The sub needs to attract more buyers.
We’re working on redesigning the sub to appeal to those looking to purchase from all of you lovely artisans, and to make the environment welcoming for them to continue coming back to utilize the sub.
WE WILL DELETE SPAM POSTS AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO BAN SPAMMERS.
They make it harder for relevant artists to connect with the right buyers and make our sub difficult to find work on. That's not what any of us want.
Expect to see posts reminding buyers the holidays are coming, asking them to make their purchases early, or threads for artists to post their sales. We’ll do our best NOT to spam because that’s counter-productive. We want to make the sub as welcoming as possible for people who want to connect with real artists, selling real, handmade work.
We want to make it clear though, this is still a sub where you should be posting your work for sale! That hasn’t changed! We’re just trying to get more buyers in as well.
ORGANIZATION
Finally, we’ve changed up the post flairs to help with organization. Like I said above, we want to make the process of connecting the right artists to the right buyers as quick and easy as possible.
We have a full explanation of the new flairs here!
We’ve also introduced a new Verified Artist flair you can learn about here.
You’ve likely already noticed the side bar has been cleaned up. A lot of the information has been relocated into the rules and the newly-created wiki. We’re still working on some more pages (like red flags to look for, suggestions for commissioning process, a ToS template and a few other helpful bits and bobs).
If you have any suggestions along the way, please do let us know!
We'll have a few polls in the upcoming weeks to help us get another feel of what the community wants and what you feel is best as we work together.
Thanks, everyone!
