Cringe Chinese livestreamer dances almost nonstop for 4–6 hours, every time viewers send gifts, she has to dance

This girl is acting distressed because that makes people donate more. The disturbed feeling you’re getting is exactly the intended feeling. It makes the people donating get the impression that they’re prolonging a torture and not giving their money away.
Also, The background is a loop. I can’t believe I’m the only one here to point that out.

Gonna armchair psychologist this and say something about how the discomfort is evidence of the donator's actions, and so affirms the donator's power and agency in and over the world: Their act did something, caused something, and that gives it (and their existence) Meaning.
I'm also going to assume that a lot of people won't donate to the 'Happy Smile' machine because 'of course she pretends to be happy because I gave her money; that's insincere.'

u/t3mpura0 10h ago
Yeah 体力直播(exercise stream) is a thing in china TikTok and recently it spreads to global TikTok too. It's basically someone pretending to eat on stream and there's a "menu" for donation on the side that if you donate, they had to do something, which encourage you to interrupt their meal. It ranges from greeting to asking them to do tough exercises depending on the value of the gift. I watch this one guy's stream and he basically pretending to be hurt or tired than he is just to get more donations. If you "beat" him, (basically donate so much that he surrender) your name will be printed and put on the wall behind him.
•
u/jazza2400 10h ago
So this is what people choose to do with their money these days? What the actual fuck.
•
u/t3mpura0 10h ago
It is kinda dystopian. But thats how they get you hooked. The more they act like your donation has affected them, the more people are willing to donate and stick around to watch. The one op showed is just a bigger version of it where it involves dancing and selecting different girls like a game.
Of course I couldn't say she's 100% acting (since it looks like it's a big company running the show) but her acting distressed is basically required for this anyway.
If you can read mandarin and scroll TikTok (not douyin) long enough you see this kinda stream always. Theres one I saw where they setup the live like an office meeting, with the boss talking, and you can donate for the girls to dance mid meeting or kick the boss lol.

I watched one of these for hours once, almost the exact scenery. There was one girl who had been dancing for a while and seemed pretty distressed, her colleagues were trying to help her by cleaning up her forehead of sweat, and fixing her hair on her short breaks. After around 40 minutes I noticed it was a video that was being played in a loop. I stayed on for another 40 minutes to prove it, and indeed the same things started happening. Definitely clickbait, but I don’t think it makes it less sad. They also put lots of filters on them and they look so tired when the filter glitches and shows their real faces. This is pretty dystopian bs.
•
u/H3ll3rsh4nks 7h ago
I see that a ton on live youtube streams that show up in the shorts scroll. It'll be some person trying to stop a task such as clicking a mouse or spinning a wheel or something but it's always a 15-30 minute loop and tons of people (I'm assuming little kids) donating to prolong the situation and a bunch of people yelling in chat about how it's fake. It's real brainrot shit.

When you get into watching Chinese livestreams it’s a very bizarre and saturated market. I could definitely see this being a niche she found. When I lived in China I started watching some livestreams of what I thought were animal rescues. If you start reading up about the animal livestreams it gets really dark. China is dystopian as fuck.
→ More replies (9)•
u/Pineapple-Yetti 10h ago
The old i put animal in danger so i can rescue it scam?
•
u/Mimopotatoe 10h ago
I won’t write out all of it, but I’ll say that one issue was essentially animal hoarding and filming cutesy videos and asking for tips to feed/take care of them and then just stuffing them into packed cages. Many die due to neglect and they just get more and the cycle repeats. The stuffs that’s worse than that you can google. There’s definitely a market for torture.

you can get on tiktok right now and see 1000 diff versions of this in a couple hours. That implies the viewers enjoy it more when she's suffering, which is worse.
As a former dancer and dance instructor: I danced for 4 hours straight once without break and I couldn't sleep that night because my legs hurt so bad. You can dance for many many hours over extended periods of time as long as you get a few minutes of break here and there and drink water. This is just horrible.
•
u/AuroraFinem 8h ago edited 8h ago
This is pretty common for entertainment, which is why as a creator you need to establish hard boundaries when engaging with it at all.
People like to watch other people get pranked or get embarrassed/frustrated/fail to do something, but when you continue to let it go too far you get more and more of your viewers who are only there for that content forcing you to keep doing it or going further at risk of losing your viewer base.
Anytime a streamer does this while they’re smaller and ends up becoming too much as they grow, they always end up having to make the barrier higher and higher or put a full stop to it. That’s why smaller streamer add like 2-3mins per sub vs 10-30seconds for larger streamers when doing subathons, and why many streamers won’t do them at all, but this is so sad and I feel for that girl.
If she really wanted to keep the gimmick, she should make it something like “whoever donates the most/gifts the most subs gets to decide what song I dance to for the last hour of stream or can tell me not to dance” or something more manageable without cutting it all together. 4-6hrs every gift is insane, how do you even get any viewers for non-dancing torture content if that is your entire stream because someone gifted?

Yeah no I can’t watch it. This is beyond not okay. Reminds me of Rhytm O by Marina Abramovitz- it’s absolutely not similar but I feel the same sick discomfort and horror that gets worse and worse and you know if it doesn’t stop, it will only get worse until it reaches the conclusion. And stopping it is outside of your control, you can only watch, and being an observer is worse than participating, because you are powerless. And just by watching you feel a part of it, like pulling a trigger, and it feels viscerally sickening.
I don’t watch TikTok because Reddit is where I put a stop at, but knowing some of these girls are exploited and forced to perform, and watching this without any background information, just adds a layer of horror.

Fifteen Million Merits, the second episode they ever made is pretty similar.
People cycle every day to earn 'merits' (money basically), but if you want to get ahead, you can cash in 15 million and buy a ticket to be on a Americas got talent style show. People who make it end up on the various channels you can watch while riding the bike.
One guy inherited a bunch of merits and so he uses almost all of them to send a girl who sings well onto the show. The judges don't care for her singing. She instead ends up getting pressured into being a porn star instead.
The guy is pissed, saves for his own ticket, then criticizes the show and the system on stage while threatening to stab his neck with a piece of glass. The judges are amused by his anger, and offer him his own channel.
The show ends with him concluding his own show, ranting about the system to the cyclists watching before showing that he now lives in a luxury apartment.

Bro this is not cringe, this is a violation of human rights. Oh my god.
Just want to say, seeing the victim blamers being downvoted out the ass has restored a little bit of my hope in humanity.

It’s also fake lol.

I’m actually surprised at the amount of comments that think this is real. There’s also filters that are good enough to imprint the “sad” facial expressions.

Apparently the background "witnesses" are on a video loop too.

Who’s human rights? She’s deciding to do it she isn’t forced to lol
It’s a grift, anyone that’s ever taken ecstasy at a rave will tell you 4-6 hours dancing is easy.

Dude what? Her human rights are violated because she's a streamer? Fucking nonsense
Media literacy truly is dead

How is she a victim when she's voluntarily doing this and getting paid? Is this how you get by without actually doing good in the world? Making up fake scenarios and shitting on others for not being as gullible as you? And then feeling proud of yourself for it?

Just because the title influenced you to think this by using "has to" doesn't mean she has to. She can stop whenever she wants.

I saw somewhere that these are actually trafficked women. Any normal person would stop when tired, but those trafficked have no choice to stop for fear of abuse from the people behind the camera.

How much money did she make? How much money would you require to do this?

This is the future of genuinely tens of millions of kids, both western and asian.
This is the content machine, the machine that will rule our governed world in mere years, if not decades.

She's crying while dancing. The girls in the background look scared. What am I watching?!
•
u/AmItheonlySaneperson 11h ago
The backgrounds a green screen right? She’s dancing for every donation which is a rule she made up on her own.

At what point does prostitution become easier and less degrading?
→ More replies (2)•
u/Swarna_Keanu 10h ago
Sorry, but with prostituion you risk some people physically messing you up and murdering you. Here she is in front of a greenscreen and a camera.
Sure, degrading. Way less dangerous at the same time.

Why the two hour time range? Just post how long she actually danced for. It is an exact number I’m sure and not a range

I've watched a documentary about this, they are just paid 300USD per month and the job is unstable and depends on the views. If no one is watching the group will be disbanded. It's like a fast-fashion KPOP group in China for those who was not able to train KPOP and are deemed overage (e.g. being 25 is considered old in their industry).

4-6 hours of dancing isn't even bad?
Have yall never been out to a concert or anything before in your lives?
This is a pathetic ploy for false empathy.

Social media is the worst thing to ever happen to humanity. It's worse than the plague.
