It’s voluntary and it’s still dystopian. It’s the surrendering of oneself to the web for economic gain of it all for me. 

This is a dystopian way to make a living. Even if it’s performative. 

Mark Twain said that we are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be. And I think that applies here.

maybe if it was a large scale phenomenon there would be a significant percentage of people with mental health side effects, but it is really not and will never be by design. People who you and me have never heard about have much more "soul" damage just from working a shit job with shit people

It was from 2023. Apparently this streamer is still with the same agency and bringin in USD$30k a month (the Taiwanese commenter says take home pay, but could be only 20%/$6k a month as platform gets 50% and Agency usually 50-60%.)

You don't know that. It's entirely possible that it's just her job and it's fine, but also possible that she does have to.

As someone who has talked to actual HT victims, I know a thing or two (and probably still know nothing about how bad it gets)

So a lot of these stream camps are run by organized crime in China. People are chattel. This person's family or her could owe a debt. People commenting that she probably made some coin are incorrect - she maybe saw a fraction of the money come her way.

No one wants to do this, guys - no one dances like this for 6 hours straight in excruciating pain. Its something she HAS to do otherwise there will be consequences.

Yes, thats normally my preferred method of human trafficking - why look at forced prostitution or slave labour, when you can put a camera on them on the 1/10,000 chance they get anywhere near minimum wage dancing on tiktok Live.

It's a bit dude. "Oh no, If you keep giving me money I have to dance".

I can only assume the bots are downvoting you. You are absolutely correct and people have no idea how Chinese MCN (Multi-channel network) companies work. These scums set up traps in the contract so if anyone wants to quit they have to first pay a huge amount of fines to the company, usually hundreds of thousands to up to millions yuan. You can read it for yourself.
