This girl is acting distressed because that makes people donate more. The disturbed feeling you’re getting is exactly the intended feeling. It makes the people donating get the impression that they’re prolonging a torture and not giving their money away.

Also, The background is a loop. I can’t believe I’m the only one here to point that out.

u/chloe-et-al 11h ago

yeah this is one of the most commons scams on tiktok. it is not an evil chinese dance torture facility 😭

u/EugeneStein 11h ago

Somehow it makes it look even more creepy

u/ladyrara 10h ago

For real people want to see her in discomfort?! wtf

u/TalespinnerEU 10h ago

Gonna armchair psychologist this and say something about how the discomfort is evidence of the donator's actions, and so affirms the donator's power and agency in and over the world: Their act did something, caused something, and that gives it (and their existence) Meaning.

I'm also going to assume that a lot of people won't donate to the 'Happy Smile' machine because 'of course she pretends to be happy because I gave her money; that's insincere.'

u/ladyrara 9h ago

Doesn’t make me feel better, but I see the logic

u/TalespinnerEU 9h ago

If it makes both of us feel worse, it also doesn't make me feel better.

u/Nails__DeChamp 5h ago

It makes me feel better to know it doesn’t make others feel better (except for the others that it does)

It’s the same reason why torture porn exists where women get gangbanged, stretched, skullfucked, degraded, made to drink piss and do other godawful stuff. People get off on degradation of pretty women.

u/Infern0-DiAddict 8h ago

Time and time again, experiment after experiment has proven that most humans will gladly torture other people when they believe their actions won't be judged negatively, and someone else will join in...

u/Gashenkov 4h ago

I won’t torture anyone

u/Dull_Quit3027 2h ago

The only modern example i can think of is that art thing where the lady let people do what they want, it ended up with a pretty big portion of the audience protecting her, so not sure if you are right, some people will, but not most humans.

u/aunt_satan 1h ago

Yeah, that was the Abramovic performance. Went pretty far, someone loaded a gun and put it toward her head.

u/Amathyst7564 5h ago

I've met enough women in the kink community to know that a lot of them just like to be treated like that in a controlled environment too. Not that all the porn isn't some women desperate for money, but some certainly do it for the love of the game.

u/HaventSeenYouHere 3h ago

So is being gangbanged on the same level as stretched and degraded?

People have sex with multiple other people, you wouldn't want to have sex with 5 women if you were a man? And some people are size queens and want to try bigger sex toys.

I think you're either thinking of a very specific video or series of videos youve seen or perhaps you're projecitng your own morals.

u/brazzy42 1h ago

I think in context, it was simply the wrong choice of word and should have been "gang-raped".

And no, they're likely not thinking of a very specific video or series - degradation porn is a genre you'll find on most porn sites as a category, and big enough that you'll see it whether or not you're interested.

Yeah 体力直播(exercise stream) is a thing in china TikTok and recently it spreads to global TikTok too. It's basically someone pretending to eat on stream and there's a "menu" for donation on the side that if you donate, they had to do something, which encourage you to interrupt their meal. It ranges from greeting to asking them to do tough exercises depending on the value of the gift. I watch this one guy's stream and he basically pretending to be hurt or tired than he is just to get more donations. If you "beat" him, (basically donate so much that he surrender) your name will be printed and put on the wall behind him.

u/jazza2400 10h ago

So this is what people choose to do with their money these days? What the actual fuck.

u/t3mpura0 10h ago

It is kinda dystopian. But thats how they get you hooked. The more they act like your donation has affected them, the more people are willing to donate and stick around to watch. The one op showed is just a bigger version of it where it involves dancing and selecting different girls like a game.

Of course I couldn't say she's 100% acting (since it looks like it's a big company running the show) but her acting distressed is basically required for this anyway.

If you can read mandarin and scroll TikTok (not douyin) long enough you see this kinda stream always. Theres one I saw where they setup the live like an office meeting, with the boss talking, and you can donate for the girls to dance mid meeting or kick the boss lol.

u/partytaima 4h ago

oh shit i can't believe it took me this long but it's basically the camgirl playbook but sanitized for tiktok

but yeah damn we really be living in a black mirror episode

u/ShawnsRamRanch 3h ago

It's already an episode.

There are facebook livestreams like this too. People send stickers that will make the livestreamer do or say certain things on camera. Sometimes it’s fucked up or humiliating things. It’s like a sad, digital human zoo.

u/Log_Out_Of_Life 3h ago

I saw a video where dozen of these people were in the same place with green screen cubicles. It was super weird.

u/CONCAVE_NIPPLES 10h ago

I'm always surprised how many people will just consume anything and everything. It's usually people that don't have much money too.

u/alphapussycat 8h ago

This isn't really consumption, it's more like paying for percieved power and the feeling of hurting others. We're gonna have a whole generation worth of psychopaths who never learned to mask/co-exist.

lol

u/Maxamillion-X72 10h ago

Some people go to work at an Amazon warehouse, some people dance on a live stream for donations. Both are trading their body for money. In the first case, the employers don't give two fucks about the workers. In the second case, the employers (donators) actively want to see them suffer.

I'm not sure which is worse; complete disdain and lack of concern for the wellbeing of the employees or taking joy at the suffering of a single employee.

→ More replies (29)

u/moonypoony 11h ago

Yep this is a classic trope all over Chinese tiktok. If there is something disturbing happening it's beyond what we're seeing in the screen. The specific thing people are concerned about is for sure an act.

→ More replies (6)

u/The_German_1 10h ago

Taking money from people who are amused by her suffering. Sounds like she scamming for a good cause then.

u/moonreave 7h ago

yeah i thought that too but then i started thinking it was like... normalizing or somehow approving that behavior and thus in turn making it more prevalent and intense which would be net worse? and around and around on loops I went

→ More replies (4)

u/DecentLeftovers 6h ago

It’s actually probably the opposite, tbh. These lives will have you donate a specific gift to have one of the girls dance, so they play pre-recorded footage like this on a loop to entice people to donate out of pity so someone else has to dance.

Except that never happens because again - it’s a recording, and not actually live.

u/aballofunicorns 11h ago

I watched one of these for hours once, almost the exact scenery. There was one girl who had been dancing for a while and seemed pretty distressed, her colleagues were trying to help her by cleaning up her forehead of sweat, and fixing her hair on her short breaks. After around 40 minutes I noticed it was a video that was being played in a loop. I stayed on for another 40 minutes to prove it, and indeed the same things started happening. Definitely clickbait, but I don’t think it makes it less sad. They also put lots of filters on them and they look so tired when the filter glitches and shows their real faces. This is pretty dystopian bs.

u/H3ll3rsh4nks 7h ago

I see that a ton on live youtube streams that show up in the shorts scroll. It'll be some person trying to stop a task such as clicking a mouse or spinning a wheel or something but it's always a 15-30 minute loop and tons of people (I'm assuming little kids) donating to prolong the situation and a bunch of people yelling in chat about how it's fake. It's real brainrot shit.

u/aballofunicorns 7h ago

Yeah, once you see a couple you know what’s behind those and hopefully try to avoid watching them.

u/yoghurken 2h ago

You don’t know how many are donating. They all use self-donation too, like how a scam game on the street will have confederates playing. Self-donation launders money too

u/Pineapple-Yetti 11h ago

its possible there is something sinister going on here but your answer seemed the most likely. In theory this is a rule she set her self to promote donations and its working.

u/Mimopotatoe 11h ago

When you get into watching Chinese livestreams it’s a very bizarre and saturated market. I could definitely see this being a niche she found. When I lived in China I started watching some livestreams of what I thought were animal rescues. If you start reading up about the animal livestreams it gets really dark. China is dystopian as fuck.

u/Pineapple-Yetti 11h ago

The old i put animal in danger so i can rescue it scam?

u/Mimopotatoe 10h ago

I won’t write out all of it, but I’ll say that one issue was essentially animal hoarding and filming cutesy videos and asking for tips to feed/take care of them and then just stuffing them into packed cages. Many die due to neglect and they just get more and the cycle repeats. The stuffs that’s worse than that you can google. There’s definitely a market for torture.

u/Habibti-Mimi81 10h ago

There are too many sick, disturbed "people" in this world. There's not much that I hate more than animal cruelty. Those "people" deserve the worst.

u/Meowakin 10h ago

Unfortunately, that's true the world round. There're a lot of people and even if only 0.001% of the population is truly 'evil' if such an objective thing exists, that's still over 8 million 'evil' people. It doesn't really say much about the average person, just how many people there are in the world.

Then there's cultural values or relative morality to consider on top of that. The internet just makes it easier to surface these things, and enables finding niche markets.

u/Mimopotatoe 10h ago

China has no laws prohibiting animal cruelty so that definitely is a part of it.

u/JuniorVermicelli3162 10h ago

Did not know that 🤮

u/Mimopotatoe 10h ago

They performed forced abortions and forced sterilizations on millions of women under the one child policy until 2015. It’s a very cruel and ruthless government

u/BlastFX2 8h ago

This exact type of stream is actually fairly common on Douyin these days. I believe they're an offshoot of the walking streams where some dude (who, apparently, used to be a bit famous) and like 50 other people walk a few steps forwards and then backwards, for like 12 hours straight.

Dance marathons were a big thing in the US during the great depression. Dancers would dance for hours or entire days similarly to this for prizes, a place for their family to stay while they were dancing, hot meals, etc.

u/great_apple 10h ago

I mean people literally go to clubs and dance for 4-6 hours every weekend for fun. Marathoners run 4-6 hours for fun. Of course dancing that long is tiring but acting like she's being tortured and this is superhuman is a bit much.

u/bgravato 6h ago

Exactly!

I don’t think the background is on a loop, the whole video is because it plays the same footage three times - just look at the donos. Although I do agree the entire thing is played this way entirely to elicit an emotional reaction and get more donations. It’s pretty common and anyone who’s spent more than 15 minutes on TikTok live has probably come across this exact type of scam already.

u/elafave77 8h ago

It's probably a 40 minute to an hour loop. That gets played repeatedly on different platforms.

u/TeaBeforeWar 11h ago

Apparently it's a common trope, as well - they do these group dance live streams, and there's often a designated 'discheveled' one. The others do just as much dancing.

u/dramalama-dingdong 10h ago

So she's satisfying the people's need to torture someone?

I would lean towards this too. 4-6 hours is fairly normal at a techno club. Her having to resort to this behavior is pretty dystopian though.

u/VaporousMote 9h ago

u/Affectionate_Bed6083 9h ago

u/Mewing_Femboy 9h ago

yeah like she could just stop if she wanted do.

u/One_Animator_1835 9h ago

What does the background being a loop have to do with anything? No one else mentioned it cause it's irrelevant

Also, a lot of these app streaming women are trafficked/forced into this, so honestly you don't know if it's an act or not.

u/mightylordredbeard 9h ago

People from the TikTok generation lack critical thinking skills, media literacy, and just common sense. They will believe everything they see and read online and will not bother doing any type of research or investigation into something. Just take what the see/read at face value, form their opinion of it, then move on. The only time they don’t believe something is if it’s just something they don’t want to believe because it goes against how they “feel” about a certain thing.

Take that brain rotted mentality and combine it with the advancements of AI and you’re gong to have a very, very stupid generation.

u/marissakuf 9h ago

Like yeah, she can turn it off at any time lol. Sometimes I wonder how people come up with things like this, but it doesn’t affect me, so it’s just funny that it works.

u/DerWunderer 8h ago

u/bobdoleghostboy 8h ago

Oh man the concern is hilarious on this one.

u/ArtFUBU 8h ago

Yea idk why this is disturbing. 4-6 hours of dancing sounds fantastic to me lmao That's a good saturday and I go hard af

u/WhiteWolfOW 8h ago

Yeah, she’s getting rich while doing and people are getting sad for her for no reason. I mean, she can stop at anytime, she keeps doing it because she wants more money.

u/T0mpkinz 8h ago

This whole clip is a loop, not the background...

u/Pale-Barnacle2407 8h ago

The background is a loop. I can’t believe I’m the only one here to point that out.

the background isnt in a loop, the video just repeat after 0:28

u/A2Rhombus 8h ago

It still disturbs me. Playing into people sadistic and weirdly fetishistic desire to force a woman to do something she doesn't want to do still means those people's desires are real

u/KrimzonK 8h ago

I mean yeah the first time it's probably a girl with entrepreneurial spirit but the next time it's going to be some wageslave in a contract making money for someone else... Then it gets dark real quick

u/According-Dot2099 8h ago

Exactly what a Chinese Communist operative would say! Jk lol

u/Pepperspray24 8h ago

This still makes me disturbed. The fact that it’s so well known that people donate more to torture someone that it can be capitalized is awful.

u/Pengiunswithknives 8h ago

Right?!? 4-6 hours of dancing is nothing compared to the dancing marathons that used to happen back in the 1930's.

u/odysseyofocelots 8h ago edited 8h ago

Yeah, it’s still definitely incredibly disturbing & I’m sure these girls are likely being forced/held against their will & it isn’t like it’s easy to dance for 4-6 continuous hours, but this looks more like she’s been forced for 14-16 hours. I’m a random unathletic skinny fat American & I’ve had waitressing shifts where I was running around on my feet for 6 consecutive hours while carrying trays & didnt even have the chance to stop for a bathroom break lol and sure it was exhausting but I definitely wasn’t looking like I had just been forced to walk 40 miles at gunpoint. My older sister was actually deep into competitive dance from childhood through college, and she would have rehearsals before big events that lasted 12+ hours easily with minimal breaks or food. It was of course awful and unhealthy and probably illegal, but my point is that jumping around for 4-6 hours, especially if you’re a young thin woman like the ones in this video, you aren’t going to be THAT incredibly distressed lol. It’s really sick though that she has to play it up, since the whole thing is sadistic and people somehow apparently get off on this.

u/thepenismytea 8h ago

To me she's demonstrating she's wife material that can go all night and LOVE ME LONG TIME!

u/Pathanwala 8h ago

People are hella stupid they’ll fall for anything

u/absolutelyneve 8h ago

Why would anyone want to prolong someone's torture?

And also, I understand it's a trope, but at the same time, it is too easy for people to dismiss women's suffering as fake (e.g. unfortunate statistics about women's medical visits).

u/REDDIT_JUDGE_REFEREE 7h ago

No it has to be the Chinese government, papa Raytheon told me that this is what it’s like over there

u/TheAnimeFan01 7h ago

the background isn't a loop, it's just that the video played twice

u/Lunar-opal 7h ago edited 3h ago

I don’t see the loop help me see it

u/mia_papaya 7h ago

The audience is torturing her live... and the platform she's live on is allowing it. Don't we usually banish this kind of thing to the dark web?

u/No_Dust_1630 7h ago

Yeah i see through it. The girl ain't distressed at all. She only acts like that because it keeps people watching longer than being excited to receive a donation.

u/ZennyOne 7h ago

So people are getting their rocks off by watching people torture themselves. And now we have people feeding into that and perpetuating it as a hustle?

u/throwawayED67 7h ago

Nice 👍, was thinking 4 hours isn't so bad considering what some streamers do

u/StickGuyAtWorkToK 7h ago

This is correct. I danced non-stop for 6 hours at a club and then walked home at 6am this past Friday. I even did it in China, so it isn't something in the air that makes dancing extra hard here.

The hard part to think about is if people genuinely think this is torturous, and they are donating to prolong the torture (like you said), then that is fairly sick and says something about us. eek.

u/bunger_33 7h ago

Yeah, like all the ppl "crying" doing some "challenge" and continuously saying "if someone donates I'll be done! Just one donation and I'm done!". And then "but wait, I have to...."

It's just edging the climax to a situation to keep idiots engaged to see an ending.

Essentially the "How do you confuse an idiot, read back" with the same on the other side

u/MimiHamburger 7h ago

I think no one has pointed the background because it’s really obvious. I just figured it was a trend.

u/Thaddeus_Valentine 7h ago

The backgrounds not a loop. Watch the two girls on the right, none of their movements repeat. You got confused because the video looped without you realising.

u/Ill_Cost_1718 7h ago

One step away from red rooms.

u/Mookie_Merkk 7h ago

Also, The background is a loop. I can’t believe I’m the only one here to point that out.

The background isn't a loop. The entire thing is just a 8 second or so clip looped over and over.

For example look at the donations when the girl on the right leans her head back. It's the same 1110 every single time.

u/Over-Inside-7254 7h ago

It's like those 48 hour dance-a-thon that schools run for their  children's hospitals.

Except every aspect is corrupted by horrible, selfish douchebags for attention instead of charity and self-aggrandizement instead of saving sick children.

You know, for assholes by assholes.

u/Federal_Drink_3527 7h ago

The clip is looped. The background isn't, different girls dance for different rewards, because her one is getting spam gifted she's stuck dancing aha

u/omfgcookies91 7h ago

Also, she doesn't need to actually "dance." She can just wave her hands or whatever. This is literally self inflicted.

u/toolsoftheincomptnt 7h ago

How Black Mirror can we fucking get on this planet?

u/NexrayOfficial 6h ago

Yup.. too many peope from other countries are livestreaming with the “tired” and “sad” face filter begging you not to pay for them to keep playing or doing whatever monotonous thing they are doing and its so abysmally boring. Idk how people willingly drop money on it but somehow its working.

u/beezy-slayer 6h ago

Yeah she could just stop if she wanted to, she's not being forced but that's the brand she's selling

u/SnoopsMom 6h ago

Yea like I danced for hours this weekend and it was not torturous.

u/oh-iam-here 6h ago

These are the same people who would vote for a purge the movie

u/hygsi 6h ago

Also, this isn't even dancing lmao

u/kangaroosociety 6h ago

has to be. I can dance for hours at a rave without looking distressed

u/ThomasVetRecruiter 6h ago

Very Milgram Shock Experiment.

u/TransBrandi 6h ago

I mean, you're saying that as if that isn't dark as fuck on its own.

u/paradoxxxicall 6h ago

I’m sure you’re right overall, but if the background is a loop it’s not visible in this clip. The girl on the far right moves out of frame in the beginning and it only happens once

u/Final-Gift-2299 6h ago

the background is not a loop in this post. this video is repeated 3 times.

u/Aflockofants 6h ago

Was gonna say, I used to be heavily into underground dance events and I’d easily dance for 6 hours. Once even for 12 for the majority of the time although that was with stimulants. 4-6 hours of flopping your arms around without moving your legs much really isn’t that tiring for someone in shape.

u/Gottahavethatalt 6h ago

This is what's more fucked up to me. The dystopia isn't that someone needs to do this to make money, but rather the followers willing to give her money want to exist in a fantasy dystopia where that's why they are giving her money.

u/DaimonHans 5h ago

A weird culture indeed.

u/Entire_Blueberry1926 5h ago

A lotta sick fucks in this world

u/Bodod_Begag 5h ago

That doesn't make it any less fucked, I'd say it's worse lmfao

u/stupid_cat_face 5h ago

Was going to say this… the sadists sending gifts want this…. Girl knows what she’s doing

u/princess22cake 5h ago

Well.. as fucked up as it is to learn people enjoy seeing her suffer, for once i'm glad that they're only faking her distress. I hope she'd getting paid well for this.

u/charlieto0human 5h ago

Still disturbing that people are willing to throw down money to see someone suffer… Real or fake, that’s some fucked up human psychology right there.

Genius scam though, but damn it’s disheartening knowing there is an audience for this…. An audience that is both sociopathic AND stupid.

u/jupertino 5h ago

The whole video plays 3 times. That’s what loops, silly. The whole video loops.

u/Upset_Chip_7184 5h ago

YEP!!!
TIC baby.

u/Jujubi836 5h ago

Probably because everyone already knew…

u/LaroonDynasty 5h ago

none of this clip is looping. not even the screen in the back has a full loop. this is likely part of the chinese influencer industry, where the training/tryouts are competitive and notoriously grueling. its unlikely that someone is actually dancing for 4-6 hours straight, but the discomfort is very likely genuine

u/TravelingMonk 5h ago

Yeah now that makes sense she is probably also pre programed effect too. No one is actually dancing.

u/Signal_Ad8960 5h ago

It also activates "train wreck you can't look away from".

u/Both-Safe-8678 5h ago

its looped here but theres another video that showed the red lady (i think?) stepping up to help the girl. idt its looped but its possible theyre just pretending to suffer lol

u/Mezzary 5h ago

It’s not a loop. The video itself is a loop which I can tell from the comments repeating

u/lorenzolamaslover 5h ago

The background might be fake but high chance theres another row of girls in cubicles doing the same thing next to her.

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 5h ago

Yuck holy shit 💀 😬

u/Lucy_Gucey 4h ago

What the fuck.

u/SamOakTree 4h ago

Exactly there's another Channel that's kind of like this where a guy acts like he's going to hurt himself and he'll say three two one and then he'll start the count all over again and he just keeps doing that over and over

u/ShapedSilver 4h ago

I think that’s just dystopian in a different way

u/celltroll 4h ago

Amazing to me that people think they are not doing this for a purpose. that purpose is money.

u/Scoonie24 4h ago

So... black mirror

u/jabberjaw420 4h ago

i was going to post something like this, but i didnt' really know how to say it.
