I watched one of these for hours once, almost the exact scenery. There was one girl who had been dancing for a while and seemed pretty distressed, her colleagues were trying to help her by cleaning up her forehead of sweat, and fixing her hair on her short breaks. After around 40 minutes I noticed it was a video that was being played in a loop. I stayed on for another 40 minutes to prove it, and indeed the same things started happening. Definitely clickbait, but I don’t think it makes it less sad. They also put lots of filters on them and they look so tired when the filter glitches and shows their real faces. This is pretty dystopian bs.

I see that a ton on live youtube streams that show up in the shorts scroll. It'll be some person trying to stop a task such as clicking a mouse or spinning a wheel or something but it's always a 15-30 minute loop and tons of people (I'm assuming little kids) donating to prolong the situation and a bunch of people yelling in chat about how it's fake. It's real brainrot shit.

Yeah, once you see a couple you know what’s behind those and hopefully try to avoid watching them.

You don’t know how many are donating. They all use self-donation too, like how a scam game on the street will have confederates playing. Self-donation launders money too

How doesnt that make it less sad. Shes not dancing for 8 hours straight shes acting for 40 min and getting money for it lol

You could work for 40 minutes and run this for the next 5 years. LOL. It's not sad, it's genius. Cam people do this all the time.

Anyone who gives money to some cam person who they don't know and...people used to play poker machines, which is still bad, but this is stupidity.

Nah, its dumb. Why work out yourself when you can outsource it to AI to generate videos of someone working out from rest poses in a range of apparent levels of tiredness, a vr model of them standing around and going into the rest poses, and a stream monitor to sequence and play the exercise clips according to the donation and interaction goals? No exertion, same end result.

Because AI that was good enough didn’t exist yet a few years ago. That said what you’re describing is likely already happening.

It's called ✨ automation ✨

It's sad because that still means that a bunch of people are paying a lot of money thinking they're hurting someone with it.

The real question is how tf did you sit around for hours wasting your life watching this garbage?

u/aballofunicorns 5h ago

Depression

Reminds me of a clip of some cosplayer doing various emotes in response to donations, same thing, prerecorded and cleverly edited together in response to incoming donations.

“The scenario is completely fake, but that doesn’t make it any less sad”

You guys gotta stop with the performative anger.

I need you to expand on this idea

u/FairLeadership3012 2h ago

Not sure what needs to be expanded. You proved to yourself that she isn't really in any distress or uncomfortable and it's all just a ploy for money. Aka they're doing a scam for money. That's objectively less sad than a person dancing until exhaustion because they need the money?

u/aballofunicorns 1h ago

Ah well I’m looking at the big picture here.

u/FairLeadership3012 58m ago

Yes? And big picture, it's much worse than people have to suffer to survive

u/FairLeadership3012 2h ago

Literally nothing dystopian about it. And obviously less sad. No idea how you reached that conclusion. Instead of someone dancing for hours until exhaustion it's someone faking it for views and money. That's obviously less sad than the alternative?
