So fucking dystopian holy shit

u/No_Worldliness_7106 11h ago

This definitely feels like a black mirror episode.

u/Ok-Cancel-3114 11h ago

The bicycle one. Yep.

u/a_duck_in_past_life 11h ago

I was thinking the healthcare one with Rashida Jones and Chris O'Dowd. He ends up doing Livestream stuff where people tell him to do things to hurt himself so he can continue paying for the health subscription that is keeping his wife alive, because the company changed the tier cost and now she has to blackout and spout commercial ads at random throughout the day. It's so fucking sad.

Peter Thiel taking notes

u/TheLostRanger0117 9h ago

That one fucking hurt me psychologically and emotionally, holy shit!

u/empathetix 9h ago

That was the only one I watched from the most recent season and I haven’t watched any since. Idk, Black Mirror starts to feel more and more real as we go on, makes me anxious

u/Full-District- 10h ago

Man... I decided to watch an episode of Black Mirror after a couple years of not watching it because some of the episodes are straight up disturbing. This was the episode I watched and I've been thinking about it ever since. Can't do that show anymore even though I acknowledge its a masterpiece in many regards.

u/doors801 10h ago

15 million credits

u/DepressedDynamo 10h ago

The episode you're thinking of is called "15 Million Merits", but the episode the comment you replied to is discussing is called "Common People"

u/doors801 10h ago

You are correct. I meant to reply to the comment above it.

u/DIX_ 1h ago

That episode broke me quite bad, I haven't watched too much of Black Mirror because I get very existential/down about certain topics, but watched this blind with my GF.

Holy fk did I not sleep well after that.

u/neo_sporin 10h ago

And I was thinking about the Pop and Lockathon from Community

u/astralchanterelle 10h ago

Well, I mean, it wouldn't be the murder robotic dog episode, would it?

u/NickRick 10h ago

it is one.

u/Feeling-Yogurt839 10h ago

Or movie „Gamers“

u/kmariie94 10h ago

Yall see they’re making a new season?

u/FishermanExpensive 10h ago

It was one

u/TyruntasaurusRecht 10h ago

We're in a black mirror episode.

Each day just gets worse.

u/KittiesNTittiesPrime 9h ago

It is but not for the reasons you think. These are done played on a loop and/or filters on her face to make her look more tortured. It's a scam, not torture.

u/andiinAms 7h ago

Very The Long Walk vibes

u/MATCHEW010 3h ago

I had to turn off the one where the lady gets the brain subscription and they keep putting prices up and new “tiers”. Its too fucking real and genuinely upsetting

u/GamingGo2022 11h ago

looks like one too

u/OxbridgeDingoBaby 11h ago

Yeah holy shit, I don’t know if this is a skit (or performative) for views, or if she really is this scared. If it’s the latter, get her into Hollywood and if it’s the latter, please get her the help she needs.

Edit:

Seems it’s the former:

> This girl is acting distressed because that makes people donate more. The disturbed feeling you’re getting is exactly the intended feeling. It makes the people donating get the impression that they’re prolonging a torture and not giving their money away.

> Also, the background is a loop. I can’t believe I’m the only one here to point that out.

u/great_apple 10h ago

lol I love that your "source" is just another random reddit comment

u/ritikusice 6h ago

I love that most people here are making wild comments about slavery, black mirror based on a random Reddit title.

u/Flimsy_Share_7606 9h ago

I mean that doesn't make it much less dystopian. People are donating because it feels good to torture her. It's just that maybe she is just pretending to be tortured for their pleasure. Which is better ...but not by a whole lot.

u/James_Chandra_Hubble 9h ago

I mean she could stop at any time...

u/Flimsy_Share_7606 7h ago

That's why it is at least some what better. She isn't actually being tormented, but we still have a live "donate to torment a pretty young girl" service that is successful. Better. Still super fucked up.

u/Radiant_Safe1228 9h ago

There's another genre of this where it's a monster and kids in a hut with some water feature hammering grain.

They do something for donations and the longer they go the more "stressed" they look.

u/Any_Mortgage_9890 4h ago

You should go to her house and rescue her.

u/Rocky_Bukkake 10h ago

dystopian if she’s genuinely distressed

arguably worse that she’s giving a performance acting distressed

definitely worse that this is a valid form of income

infinitely worse that there is enough viewership to make this a valid form of income

i stg china is ground zero for the horrors of digital modernity.

u/VenPatrician 9h ago

Nah, surely you jest. Didn't you hear? China is a socialist paradise because they made some vague law to protect workers from AI and they made some really rad videos about Shanghai /s

u/ritikusice 6h ago

It's hilarious because Americans do the same thing

u/Rocky_Bukkake 8h ago

HAVE YOU SEEN CHENGDU? HAVE YOU SEEN CHONGQING?? CYBERPUNK!!!

WALKABLE WALKABLE WALKABLE WALKABLE

u/ritikusice 6h ago

Lmao Americans do this without the walkable cities

u/Rocky_Bukkake 6h ago

THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR UNIQUE POINT OF VIEW

NEVER TALK ABOUT CHINA ON ITS OWN TERMS

ALWAYS BRING THE US INTO IT

u/EmotionalMind855 7h ago

USA literally does the same thing lol

u/Rocky_Bukkake 6h ago

RELEVANT IMAGE

YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT A BOT

u/wikowiko33 7h ago

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 10h ago

We’re in the endgame now, boys

u/dramalama-dingdong 10h ago

Welcome to the new world!

u/Actual-Jelly-309 10h ago

No way. TikTok and communism rules.

u/Alternative_Mix6836 4h ago

most healthy people don't get like that after dancing for 4-6 hours

This is manufactured/contrived to make sick fucks feel like they are prolonging some torture to fish for more money

u/Independent-Dust5122 4h ago

except shes literally doing it for money... and not actually in trouble...

u/CaryTriviaDude 10h ago

may the same time though, she could just stop at literally any time, no one is making her do this

u/infinite_in_faculty 10h ago

Sophie Ellis Bextor once danced for 24 hours on live TV to raise 1 Million for charity.

u/InsectaProtecta 9h ago

Woman does silly thing to make money, world ends shortly after

u/kupozu 9h ago

I dunno, is anyone forcing her to? Is she not making an awful lot of money from this? Genuine questions, I have no context for this

I could see it as dystopic if she was forced to do something like this to survive, and she was forced by people with a lot of money and power. But if she does this out of her free will, and the donations are done by everyday people, then it seems to me she just found an excellent business, profiting nicely (I assume) by fulfilling a market.

If anything, I'd be a bit worried about those donating while seriously thinking they're harming someone

u/Sbarty 9h ago

it’s literally just faked to pull more money out of kids TikTok wallets Reddit is so dramatic.

u/Miserable-Role9555 9h ago

Its performance being done for money. If someone livestreamed biking for 6 hours nonstop no one would bat an eye. Dancing is not that different from any physical activity

You people are absolute buffoons if you think this is what dystopian means

u/SpotPsychological263 8h ago

And not even for the reasons you think, it is a manufactured product by HER to make money, nobody is forcing her to do this as it is implied. She is barley even dancing and I would suspect that her "sweat" is reapplied every so often to keep the illusion going.

u/RocketBilly13 8h ago

It's fake dumbass

u/Natural_Baseball_779 8h ago

You know what else is crazy? She choose to do that 🤯 Why are ppl in the comments acting surprised, ppl do dumb shit for money all the time...

u/loseitthrowaway7797 8h ago

Did she though?

u/playnite 7h ago

Dumbass

u/BatOwn9955 5h ago

You know that people go to raves and dance for 6 hours right?

u/Neeto_Misquito 10h ago

Sill better than a coal mine.
