I won’t write out all of it, but I’ll say that one issue was essentially animal hoarding and filming cutesy videos and asking for tips to feed/take care of them and then just stuffing them into packed cages. Many die due to neglect and they just get more and the cycle repeats. The stuffs that’s worse than that you can google. There’s definitely a market for torture.

There are too many sick, disturbed "people" in this world. There's not much that I hate more than animal cruelty. Those "people" deserve the worst.

Unfortunately, that's true the world round. There're a lot of people and even if only 0.001% of the population is truly 'evil' if such an objective thing exists, that's still over 8 million 'evil' people. It doesn't really say much about the average person, just how many people there are in the world.

Then there's cultural values or relative morality to consider on top of that. The internet just makes it easier to surface these things, and enables finding niche markets.

China has no laws prohibiting animal cruelty so that definitely is a part of it.
