Discussion Letting users remove posts.
Hello everyone,
As you are aware, on reddit moderators approve and remove content and subreddit subscribers can report to us.
Today we'd like to start an experiment here on r/Cats where we will give trusted subreddit participants access to a keyword that will allow them to remove posts.
When you exceed a certain level of subreddit specific comment karma and when you have a CQS score of highest you can now use the keyword "!remove" to pull a post from our feed. (Spelled exactly like that, case sensitive, top-level comment only as opposed to a reply to a comment.)
This will work for posts only, not for comments.
There are some things to keep in mind:
When you comment here on an account that exceeds the limit automod will assign you a special flair class and send you a message explaining you can now use the keyword.
Users will keep their existing flair text. However, changing your flair to a different pre-made flair option will also reset the flair class giving you access to this removal ability. Next comment you make it will be re-applied and you will be sent another message.
We are sent a modmail when a subscriber removes a post, explaining what post was removed and who used the keyword. Please do not abuse this ability. If posts are removed for bad reasons we will take away your ability to remove posts.
That means, use this keyword if you see spam or other rulebreaking posts only.
Please keep in mind that it is currently very popular to accuse posters of making an AI generated post. An accusation does not mean that what they are being accused of is true. Human beings can detect AI at 60% accuracy, just a little better than the results of flipping a coin. An AI can only accurately detect AI content if an AI watermark is attached to the image. It is best not to remove a post just because someone is accused of something. Use your own best judgement and our rules as your litmus, not what other people are saying.
Since this is a test run, when I ran a very minor proof of concept trial, a few people have already been assigned this special flair class who have not been sent a message. /u/kiaeej, /u/chux4w, /u/MilmoWK, /u/ms_rdr, /u/Electronic_Ad357, /u/WhiteMouse42097, /u/BeMoreKnope, /u/bluecedarood, /u/Robobanditos, congratulations, you can remove posts.
Should you for any reason not want to have this ability then you should send us a modmail after receiving the message from automod. That way we can exempt you in our code.
Initially we are going to monitor how this functions closely so we can see if we need to make changes to the threshold level for activation.
Nothing will change about the way we handle user-made reports on content. This is not a replacement for that, but an addition. If you see rulebreaking content of any kind, please report.
We hope that this change will be something that has a positive influence on the content on this subreddit.
Thank you for reading, and thank you all for making this subreddit a great place to be

Advice he ate a whole pot of mashed potatoes, will he be fine?
still wanted dinner tho
EDIT: I will call the restaurant tmrw asap. It is currently 1AM and I‘m not sure about the ingredients. Its a local restaurant so no online menu :(
He is a BIG cat, 6.5 Kg (vet says not overweight he‘s just really big)
The pot was a smaller one usually used for sauces and it was half full. I added a photo in the comments. portion was for two people (or one big cat I guess)
I‘m extremely worried and can‘t sleep so I will keep an eye out all night. pray for my poor baby please. I hope Kyuubi will be fine :(<3
I called the emergency vet and was told to wait until tomorrow as he is probably digesting it. he seems still hungry and fine.
EDIT 2: I just found him looking for more!!!

Cat Picture - OC Gf brought home a cat that i don’t want. Now me and him are best friends.
As title says. I wasn’t a fan of owning a cat, and always told my gf to please not bring one home. After months of her insisting, we finally agreed to go to the shelter and bring one home. It’s been 9 months now and I’m fairly confident i have the best cat ever. His name is Monoco, and he’s constantly sitting or sleeping on me. This little
Guy even helped me propose to my girlfriend. He had surgery on his eyes while in the shelter due to his eye lashes growing inwards, and is believe to be 6 years old. He was found in an abandoned house.
Edit: typo in title. To answer some common questions
1. She said yes and i am engaged
2. His name is from expedition 33. Love everyone that caught that.
3. As far as i can tell, and the vet, he’s healthy. He does have regular check ups.

Mourning/Loss saying goodbye…
I am absolutely devastated writing this. my baby girl jessie is being put down on thursday. i am distraught. she’s turning 16 next week and has been the most beautiful, supportive angel since i was 12. i picked her out of her litter when she was 8 weeks old and we have been best friends since.
i’ve struggled with my mental health growing up and she’s always been there right by my side during my manic and depressive episodes. she sleeps on my bed every night until recently when she got sick… she has a cancer lump and it’s huge. she can barely walk and she hides away all day and night now. she also rarely eats which is so out of character for her. i can tell she’s in immense pain.. i am trying not to lose it but i dont know how i will cope come thursday evening…

Mourning/Loss My son Mr.Patches crossed the rainbow bridge this morning.
He stood out as the only male pet in a house of 4 other female cats and a dog and stood out in personality just as much. He was cuddly, squeaky, goofy, and above all else, loved so very much.
He passed after a brief and sudden illness after a painfully short 4 years of getting zoomies while under the couch, standing on your face whenever he wanted attention, and hiding in cupboards.
When we found you behind the trash cans that night you were just a few months old. You were so small and playful, even when your new sisters didn't care for the extra company. You were fixed as soon as you could and blew up like a chubby balloon and yet still found a way to squeeze into the strangest places. While you may have known your name it was hardly ever what we called you, bubs, bubby, patchy, mr.boy, mr.poops, and wittle mans. Your mommies will miss you, your Daddy will miss you, and your kid will miss you so so so much bubs.

Cat Picture - OC Abandoned at the mall
Some absolute piece of shit abandoned this girl in a taped up small box outside of the mall in the rain. There was a closed container of food she could not access and no water available. Currently she is at the veterinary pending test results.

Mourning/Loss Stray kitten just left on the side of the road.
2 years ago today my husband and I were going to Walmart and we pulled into Walmart a way we usually never go.
In the grass I see this tiny little kitten and before he can even come to a complete stop I open the door and run over to him.
There’s a cat colony at Walmart and this little kitten was one of the many kittens in the colony, someone was careless I hit him and left him to die.
I went back to the car grabbed an old blanket and wrapped him up in it, I called around it was a Saturday so no vet was open, finally I called the emergency vet that is an hour away and explained the situation they told me to come on and so I did.
When we get there I was an emotional wreck it probably looked like it was my cat because of how distraught I was, and thinking back on it I still cry because life wasn’t fair for him.
They told me he had basically been crushed and there wasn’t much that could be done except to put him down, I stayed and held onto him when they injected him and it was almost instant, he wasn’t hurting anymore he was finally pain free. I asked them if I could take him home to bury him even though he wasn’t mine I still feel like he deserved it. The vet tech came out carrying him in this bag and it was still warm from him.. I cried so much that whole car ride back.
I never got the chance to give him a proper name, I told him that if he would have had a better chance I would have taken care of him. This little baby lays underneath the pear tree in my backyard, I know it may be dumb to cry over a cat that wasn’t mine, a cat that was a stray and hated people..I just wish his little life was different, I wish his injuries weren’t so bad that he would have eventually gotten better and he could have had a family.

Cat Picture - OC My 20.5 year old cat is 98 years human years old according to this sign at the vet
His name is V8 and can still get onto the roof even at his old age. He's the sweetest most cuddly boy and purrs like an engine (hence the name). All these photos have been taken within the last few months, even the vet expressed disbelief at the fact he will be 21 years old in march next year

Advice My cat keeps peeing on my bed. How do I make him stop.
This is the culprit. Since adopting him from the shelter as a kitten, hes had the bad habit of peeing on my bed. We showed him and taught him how to use the litter box but for whatever reason he keeps coming back to my room to do his business. HE KNOWS how to use the box because he poops in it all the time. We do have another cat and they have separate litter boxes but they end up sharing both boxes (yes, we regularly clean them both)
I just bought a new comforter and mattress because due to so many "accidents" it just reeked. I've had this new bed for less than a month and I have to water vacuum it atleast once a week now. I keep my door closed but my family walk in here alot and dont shut it.
He's had his regular check ups, he is healthy- no signs of kidney/bladder stones. I haven't mentioned this to his vet since I thought that it'd stop eventually. I'm starting to think he just hates me- he always give me weird judgy looks anyways so I wouldnt be surprised.
He's about to be 1 in Nov. This isn't "kitten behavior" anymore. This is a grown man pissing on my bed now. How can I make it stop. Please.

Mourning/Loss Smokey...
I miss you. I just met you a year ago when I met my boyfriend. You were his Mom's cat. You lost her in April. And today you went to be with her at 2:15 am.
My bf said he never liked people but you immediately warmed up to me when I first met you.
I spent the last 2 months trying to make sure you were fed and watered and kept safe after your nerve damage in the face and you sturggled to eat. You were so strong. You lost your eye sight but you still trusted me to take care of you. I am so sorry you didn't get a chance to make it to your new home when we move on Wednesday. I knew you were struggling.
I am glad you are not suffering anymore but you had such an impact on my life in a short time. I love you. I hope your mama welcomed you with open arms.
Your brother and sisters Willy and Lilly and Kitty miss you and love you too. Take care my wonderful Smokey. 💜
