Medical Questions Should i go to Urgent care soon?

For context, my cat and i got i to a scuffle over brushing her (still mad at her for this lol) and she got me good. It happened about a day ago, and everything looks to be healing normally. But i keep having this throbbing pain on my left arm/forearm. I keep seeing this as a sign of cat scratch disease and that i should go, but none of the other symptoms align, idk if this is just inflammation from the amount of cuts on my hand and arm or if its that serious. Just need some advice on next steps and also if anyone had gone thru something similar.

Medical Questions Stray gently bit me, no broken skin - need reassurance

Post image
Upvotes

As the title says, a stray I’ve been feeding gently “bit” me as I was giving her belly rubs.

I circled the “marks” she left, and I’ve read other Reddit posts about non-broken cat bites, but just wanted some reassurance that I’ll be okay.

I washed the area with soap and water multiple times, and disinfected it.

Will I be okay?

(Just being very paranoid!!)

Taking them to the vet tomorrow morning.

Came home from work and saw this in their litter box. We have a 6 month old and a 2 month old. Is this normal behavior, or like I suspect does it require immediate medical attention?

Advice Does your cat play games on your phone?

Post image

I downloaded cat fishing for fun and my tortie loves it. She will walk over to my phone and wait for me to turn it on. She thinks she can get to the fish under the phone. Orange cat couldn’t care less about it. Are there other games your cat loves?

All jokes aside. This has been the best and affordable solution I have found for keeping my cats off of surfaces and from scratching the bedroom door in the mornings! Its plastic carpet protector with mild spikes on the bottom. It won't seriously hurt the cats, but if they try and step on it they won't by anymeans like it! Got a huge roll in the walmart carpet section! (My bf whom I live with is mildly allergic. Bless his heart because I have 4, but the bedroom is his cat free zone . Just trying to beat any comments that want to remind me how cats dislike not being able to access a room. I promise if it was just me they would!)

Advice Cat keeps eating girlfriends plants

Upvotes

Hello everyone. I have a cat that unfortunately keeps eating my girlfriends plants. She is at a limit with my cat as it won’t stop eating the plants when left alone. I fear I will be faced an ultimatum of my girlfriend or the cat as my gf cannot stand the cat for how it always tries to eat the plants. I’m sure she would love for me to rehome the cat. Any ideas?

Humor Is the cats subreddit the best sub on reddit or what 😻😻!?

Thank you, all, for joining me in pathologizing our cat's many inner lives into our entire universe of kitty love here.

Yes, I know those cat haters can't stand our crazy-for-cats goofiness and post research that cat's are the only pet correlated to harming humans, yes, we know. But those papers are published by people who've never had a cat and don't UNDERSTAND! They just need cats!!! And if you drink or smoke and don't like cats pipe down 🤠🤓

Thank you all, for sharing your kitty lives here and letting all enjoy your Kitty Universe TOGETHER!

Update Its funny how people have made a language to complicate with cats and it isn't publicly known

Upvotes

You'd think, people finding out a way to communicate with cats would take off and be more known but barley anyone knows about it,

Like MAH-AH means come here and I saw MAW MAW MAW means food

Edit: There's a language to talk to cats, what's hard to understand?

Advice Venting - the cats are ruining my mental health

Upvotes

Last year I adopted two female adult cats. They are now 10 years old. They family left the continent and they wanted to leave them with someone who was really invested and I loved them right away. I was aware that getting adult cats is difficult because they already had personalities and behaviors. I want to mention I've never had pets before. When I got them, F weighted 4kg, T weighted 3,7kg.
Now, one is overweight and the other is underweight. The overweight one wakes me up in the middle of the night, sometimes twice, to eat. I can't possibly ignore her. I can't send her into another room. The other one barely eats kibbles, I tried changing kibbles but she's not into them, and wants wet food constantly, which is not good for her elderly gums. Everytime I come home or wake up, she cries by the kitchen door, demanding food. When she eats, she doesn't know when to stop, and she vomits. And on top of it, she's losing weight.
On top of everything, I have insomnia, and the cats are not helping. My mental health has been spiraling for the past months, I feel angry and drained all the time.
I'm so attached to them, I love these cats so much and I can't possibly think about giving them away, after they've been given to me. It would break my heart and I could never forgive myself. And I don't know whou would take two senior cats.

Advice Help! I am getting annoyed with my GF cat.

Upvotes

Hi! My GF and I just moved in together to a small department two months ago. This past week she adopted a two months old kitty, a baby of five from her father's older female cat.

I was vocal that I didn't want a pet in the apartment, since it's very small and we both work all day, but agreed with her to adopt the kitty since she's been wanting a pet of her own since years ago.

I do like pets, but I'm getting really annoyed with the cat very fast, since it meows a lot for hours since sunrise and follows me meowing since I wake up to get ready to leave to work. It wakes at night wanting to play. It sleeps with us because he meows really loud if we let it out of the room, and we don't want to disturb the neighbors sleep.

I understand that it feels alone since it was separated from its siblings and previous home, and that now we are its family. Also that it is normal cat behaviour to want attention, and stimulation when we are at home because it must be asleep most the time we are not home, especially because it is a baby kitten. But the constant meowing for attention and wanting to be at my side all the time is really getting into my nerves, since now I don't have any quiet time in my own home (I do treasure silence a lot).

Does this behaviour goes away eventually? Besides playing with it at night so it sleeps during night time, Is there anything else I can do to make it to stop meowing constantly? Is there a way to get it to sleep outside the bedroom? I miss cuddling with my GF at night 'cause the cat likes to sleep between us.

I know I might be the problem, but I don't want to break my GFs illusion of having a pet with us. I know I need to learn patience (I get frustrated really fast with loud crying children and babies). What could I do? I feel that we have to reshape our routines to fit the cat's and I'm afraid our home starts becoming the opposite of a peaceful place for the constant meowing.

I was cleaning the cat box (one male, 14 months old, castrated) on Saturday and this is what I found. He always pisses in the same corner of the box. I wasn't worried before, because the yellow wasn't so dark (and also, *no red!*). He has two drinking fountains that he uses indiscriminately. He was just at the vets (before I saw this), and he doesn't cry or protest when I probe his belly.

EDIT- He has an appointment for today at 18:00 (16:36CT).

EDIT 2- Thank you everyone for the advice. I did take him to the vet. Lucky us, he had a full blatter. The vet x-rayed him. No stones. They put a catheter in. No crystals in the urine, no blood, either. Elevated pH, though. He has a new wet food in the mix.....

Tl;dr- weird colors coming out of the cat. Trip to the vet, or no?

Advice My cats have had fleas for 3 years.

Upvotes

Before you think I’m neglectful, they get flea medicine every year on schedule. I’ve only missed a few times but not for a year, maybe skipped a month before because of not being able to afford it. I have three cats. They get the topical flea medicine every year at the beginning of spring through summer, like i said i have missed a few treatments. But they’ve consistently been treated. The fleas never leave, we’ve spent so much money on bombing and spraying, we sealed all cracks in doors and windows and walls and sprayed outside and inside. We’ve given them capstar. We’ve done flea collars. Flea lamps. We moved houses! The fleas are worse than ever before. I have a baby and I am picking fleas off of him daily. I vacuum almost daily, I spray all bedding and furniture and wash bedding as much as I can. The fleas won’t go away. The anxiety I’m having is too much. I’m about to rehome or surrender all of them. I’ve had these cats for 10 years and my husband is going to be devastated. I can’t keep picking fleas off my baby. I don’t know what to do anymore. We just moved and are extremely broke. There is little I can do financially anymore. What is left?

Advice Water bowl hack - towel under

Post image
Upvotes

If your cats are like mine and always screwing around in their water bowl with their paws, put a microfiber towel under it.

I can't believe how much cleaner it stays. Even if you leave it for a month it barely looks any different than cleaning weekly/biweekly. The towel grabs any lil crap off their paws. No more random specs and bugs floating around. No gunk at all on the pump or inside. No more water on the floor.

Medical Questions Weird bump?

Parents’ cat has strange bump at the base of his tail? It’s like a mole and he doesn’t like when it’s touched. Is it anything harmful? Noticed maybe a month ago but they haven’t taken him to the vet. Luckily it hasn’t grown and we haven’t noticed any more.

Thank yall so much, and I am trying to get them to take him to the vet. I literally don’t know why they won’t but trust me I’m trying.

Cat Picture - OC Get your kittens used to baths and save everyone the headache

Thumbnail

(hope this is the right flair, but I don't know what "oc" stands for 😅)

My 15 year old boy is not bathing himself much these days so I got a storage box and gave him a bath earlier. He hated it but only tried to escape a couple of times vs the almost constant escape attempts and crying when I bathed him twice before with just a shower head.

I wish I'd gotten him used to baths as a kitten, it would be so much easier. The water was disgusting 😭 I feel horrible that he's been walking around like that. He's seen by the vet regularly and was seen recently, he went off his food during the heatwaves but is doing fine now.

So have some pictures of my sweet old man, one before his bath, one after his bath and the last picture he just looked so ridiculous with his legs up like that I had to include it 😂

Also bonus picture with my husky who adores the cats even if they do bully her 😅

Advice How do I get my cats to stop breaking my room

Upvotes

So ever since we got a cat of mine, he has always tried to break into my room. He never could but recently, he succeeded and has been relentlessly coming in and leading the other cats in there AND is starting to scratch and tear up SENTIMENTAL things of mine. Mind you, my bedroom door doesn’t have a lock on it. And it’s also basically a “push-open” door because the handle is very weak. Therefore he’s able to get it pretty easily. Now, when I’m actually IN my room, I can put dumbbells in front of my door, and thankfully that’s enough to keep them out. But, when I’m actually OUT of the room, I can’t just like… put the dumbbells right up to me door, cause how am I supposed to walk out? I can maybe put them about 5 inches to to the door with my food but they can STILL squeeze through and it has been driving me nuts. Every time I leave my room for even a MINUTE 9 times out of 10 they WILL break in there. And then they hide under my bed when I try to even gently approach them. I have no further ideas so please help me if you can. Thank you!

Advice I want to get my girl into cat shows, how do i start?

Post image
Upvotes

This is my girl Charlotte, and I would LOVE to get her into showing! She is a domestic shorthair torbie, so she’d be in the HHP (household pet) category. She LOVES people, will literally come up to strangers asking for pets.

My only issue is I have no idea where to start. I’m based in Washington if that helps. Any tips on where to register her, what I’d need, and anything I should take into consideration?

Thanks in advance! :)

Humor I know poop zoomies are a thing, but does anyone else's cat sometimes get pee zoomies as well?

Upvotes

As with so many other cats, my dude gets zoomies after pooping pretty much every time, whatever reason he may have for it loll. I've noticed however that he sometimes gets them even after peeing, which is something I haven't seen people talk about? Like sometimes I'll see him sprint out of the bathroom with the litterbox and know he only peed (for one he doesn't poop in that specific litterbox at all plus I've checked it couple of times when he did this), same way he does after pooping.

People often attribute poop zoomies to their vagus nerve being tickled in the process, but peeing doesn't do that, does it? Or is he just happy to have peed lol? Has anyone else seen this with their cats?
