The kitty on the left looks larger, and based on my sibling pair, I think the one on the left is the male. I love the fact that their nose have opposite markings. Like mirror images.

Boy left, girl right
Had a male, female sibling pair when growing up and the face shapes looked like this. The male a bit more edgy and the female a bit rounder.

The fatty is the male. Bone structure. Females have softer features. Can’t deny they are prettier

Male on the left female on the right. Head shape is what I’m basing my answer on.

Anyone with knowledge about cats can tell the female is on the right and the male on the left, it's pretty obvious

Based on my cats sibling pair, I say the boy is on the right since the loaf looks larger. The smaller loaf of the right would be the sister. But the picture is cropped so I might be wrong. My boy like to spread out while the sister loafs when they are next to each other.
So in that sense the boy is on the right and lady on the left.

I’d guess male on the left and female on the right. Purely bc I’ve mostly had girls and the one on the right looks more similar to them in shape.

The one on the right looks like a little princess so I’m convinced the one on the right is the girl and the one on the left is the boy

I think the right one is the little girl she has a smaller rounder face and your little boy is the left one 😎

It must be boy on the left, from this angle at least looks like a broader face. Quite similiar looking pair though

Left one is definitely a boy and the right one is definitely a girl. Boy cats their heads are usually a bit bigger than girls and girl cat heads are usually smaller. Also cat eyes are usually a give away because girl cats have that ‘cat eye’ look to them while boys have a more rounder eye and less of that ‘cat eye’ look. (Cat eye meaning a more slimmer eye than rounded.)

Outstretched paw kitty - lady. Next to her, gent.
It's the face shapes and expressions.
Am I right?

Thank you! 💗 That was quick! That was my guess! I’m glad I was correct because it seemed obvious to me.
•
u/ksccc09 1h ago
Of course! :) Im glad it seemed obvious to you lol. I've always been so curious because when we first got them I thought my boy was the girl, but now that I've had them for so long it seems soo obvious 😂

That was fun! Now I want to post my cats lol. I have 4 girls and 1 boy so I’m curious how many could pick out the boy from my Kittos 😋

I see two cats. They don't even know their gender.
•
•
u/Iconic_Charge 1h ago
Well, I’m sure they know that one is male one is female. In human language, that’s what we usually mean when we say boy/girl, so that’s what OP meant 😊
•
u/snausyboss 1h ago
Gender as we understand it is applicable to humans and humans alone. We cannot impose our species’ cultural concepts on other species. They very well may have their own cultural concepts of identity that are completely foreign to us as humans. But whether cats do or don’t have their own species-specific version of gender identity, the human one cannot be imposed on them.
When we speak of girl/boy/female/male in other species, we are strictly speaking sex, not gender.•
u/ThatOneGuy_I 1h ago
Not really I think just in their case their gender instantly aligns with their sex as they have no concept outside of that.
•
u/snausyboss 1h ago
That is your belief. That is not what we’ve empirically shown or have the ability to empirically show with any amount of cognitive certainty in behavioral, neurological, or reproductive science. Humans can only understand things through our species’ interpretive lenses. This is the case for literally all species. As humans, we will never know what the inner identity worlds are of other species—not unless we somehow bridge the communication gap in some way that doesn’t require the filter of human language. The only thing we can say is that it’s possible/not impossible that other species have something akin to human gender identity. To write non-human species-specific cultural concepts off is A) foolish science, and B) a disservice to the other species in question.
I would seriously question any of my colleagues’ methodologies if I saw them make overtly subjective human-filtered declarations in their behavioral interpretations. Those types of things are what get papers sent back for flawed discussion methodology revision.OP’s use of boy/girl and their presumed intentions using the terms are 100% perfectly fine. The issue here is the comment using human social concepts of gender on non-human individuals when it’s implied that the boy/girl terms used here are referring to sex.
TL/DR; human concepts of gender identity are not applicable to cats.

I think the boy is on the right - it's the stretched out paw. They are anazing and such a sweet pair!

Boy right, I'm choosing this as our boy cat also does this signature move of one outstretched paw

u/CJ_Productions 1h ago
Girl left, boy right. Face shape is a giveaway to me. Her face is narrower, his is puffier. Her posture is more relaxed and reserved, his is more stretched out and active. I suppose I could be wrong but I’d bet money I’m right. Not a lot of money… like $5 lol.

The one on the right looks like a proper lady, and the left looks more like a boy. It's the face shapes for me
