Hi everyone. A few days ago I asked for help buying food for the cats in our FeLV+ area, but we only received $20, while the food for those few days cost $105. We also had to buy urinary food for the cats who need it, which cost another $105. Now we’re out of food again, both for the cats with feline leukemia virus (19 cats) and for the general area (53 cats). We not only have no funds, but we still owe approximately $1,250 in veterinary expenses from several weeks ago, and today we had an emergency involving high blood glucose, so that amount is going to increase.

We really need help because the situation has become critical and support has decreased considerably lately. Unfortunately, wishlists don’t work here in Uruguay, so we can’t rely on those either. Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference ❤️

Tux is super sweet and good with other pets and children. He's 9 years old and loves to cuddle. He is neutered, up to date on his shots, and has a clean bill of health. He had some matting on his backside from overgrooming but vet said it wasn't a problem. Documentation for shots etc. can be provided if necessary.

Hi guys, there's a family (5 I think) of kitties in the woods behind my house. I'd like to bring them inside/find a foster for them and I was looking for advice on how to get them to trust me and how to make sure that (at the very least) the mom and dad who seem to be pretty bonded don’t get separated. I feed them and the boy lets me pet him and eats from my hand, but the girl is more skittish and won’t let me touch her. My biggest issue right now is that the boy seems to think I’m mad/a different person when I stand up and gets really afraid if I do anything other than sit.

Anyways TLDR; Need advice on how to make some feral cats trust me so I can take them to the vet

This tiny girl from SBC got off to a very rough start. She was euth listed due to very poor health and undiagnosed Ring Worm. She took a while to recover but finally championed through to good heath. For anyone who missed the original update about her return, during a phone conversation with her foster-to-adopt family, Persephone was described to us as “feral” and “un-personable.” This was after new kittens were adopted into the home, due to her not being what they expected. We understand that the word feral can be used loosely, and every home, environment, and experience can be a little different so we reached out after the call hoping to get some clarification and make sure there hadn’t been a misunderstanding or miscommunication.

Unfortunately we didn’t receive a return text or call to clear that up, and at that point we felt the best and safest decision was to have Persephone return to the rescue.

Being described as feral is something we have to take seriously. We would never feel comfortable moving forward with an adoption when a cat/dogs temperament is described that way.

Since returning, Persephone has had plenty of time to settle in and be reevaluated and she is the friendliest girl. She craves affection, LOVES to talk, and happily follows her people around the house. She can be shy when meeting new people, but once she knows you she follows you everywhere.

When I’m sleeping and she decides she needs more pets or wants to snuggle a little closer, she’ll sit right on my chest and talk to me until I wake up and give her the attention she’s asking for🤣 She also LOVES belly rubs and forehead kisses

She has some applicants expecting a call later this week, for our foster-to-adopt program💛

On 5th September, I had to rush three cats to the clinic - Richie, Toothless, and a tabby kitten — and unfortunately, all three needed medical attention for different reasons.

Richie
Richie is partially blind, and his blood test results are conclusive for FIP based on the parameters. He is currently at the clinic receiving treatment. His treatment plan is still being discussed, and the doctor will provide an estimated bill once the plan is finalized.

Toothless
Toothless had a very hard abdomen. The first clinic I took her to did not have X-ray or ultrasound facilities, so she had to be transferred to Kayan Vet Clinic for further investigation and treatment. Her blood tests were done at Hud Hud Clinic, and her X-ray (done at Kayan vet clinic) revealed an abnormal amount of gas in her abdomen. And she might be FIP positive as well.

At the moment, I have one bill for Toothless, covering her CBC and biochemistry tests.

Tabby kitten
She has a mouth infection, but thankfully, she is already improving with medication. The doctor kindly did not charge anything for her treatment.

On top of this, I already have Juno at the clinic receiving treatment for FIP.

With Richie and Toothless now also requiring urgent treatment, and both being in critical condition, the medical expenses are becoming extremely overwhelming.

I am seeking help to start with the treatment for these rescue cats.

I started working onsite in July as an offshore call center agent for an American healthcare company. The transition has been challenging because all of my rescue work and daily errands now have to be done after I get home from work.

I previously worked from home, which allowed me to feed and clean up after the cats during my breaks. That gave me more time after work to feed stray animals, take rescues to the vet and handle emergencies. Working from home also saved me a couple of hours of commuting time, which meant I could get more rest and better manage my rescue efforts.

I am hopeful that I will be able to find a work-from-home opportunity again in the near future.

These two beautiful boys are among the 12 kitties who are scheduled to be sent to the shelter on Tuesday if they don’t find homes.

We have had a little good news..two bonded pairs were just adopted, and one sweet orange girl has an adoption pending. ❤️ But the rest are still waiting, and Sebastian and Samuel are two of them.

💔 These boys are best friends and MUST go together.

Sebastian is our adorable cross-eyed boy, and both he and Samuel are absolute love bugs. They are funny, sweet, playful, affectionate, and incredibly adorable. They love each other and deserve the chance to grow old together in a loving home.

This year has been incredibly difficult for our rescue. We have had fewer adoptions, less support, more sick cats, more bottle babies, more abandoned cats, and more returns.

We are a foster- and volunteer-based rescue, and we are completely over capacity. Many of our fosters are already caring for 10+ cats. The rescue and fosters have been putting so much of their own money into these cats, but we have reached our limit.

We cannot take more kitties right now. We are only able to take in the sick ones who have absolutely nowhere else to go.

hi, i recently rescued a cat. first time and I have a few questions.

for context,

my mom found him two nights ago. apparently was in a dog's mouth. he's been super quiet ever since. he spent the first 16 hours under the bed, we then took him to the vet got blood work, IV, and a few injections done. he's severely dehydrated. the IV definitely helped as he's a lot more energetic today. he even got into my bed at night.

but

1. he still hasn't eaten anything except the lickable treats that he had this morning and a lil water. no solid food since the night he came

is this normal rescue cat behaviour? does he just need more time?

1. he can not walk well. the vet told us that he was probably just weak because of dehydration but he limps. I've been making him walk around the house and he does sit but is very slow. is not interested in playing.

2. he's inseparable from me. this is not an issue, i love it but I'm just worried if this means he'll be anxious when I'm out.

all of this is probably just me overthinking because this is my first rescue cat. I've only had one cat before and that was for a short duration. she ran away when my mom accidentally left the door open.

does he just need more time? I'm okay with that ofcourse but I just want to know

Today I went to visit Leo and I am completely heartbroken seeing him like this. He is only 7 months old, and he has been fighting for so long.

I rescued Leo from a dumpster when he was only 8 weeks old. Since the day I found him, I have been fighting for him and doing everything I possibly can to give him a chance at a healthy life. Sadly, Leo has never truly been healthy.

Today, his fever is still coming and going and will not go away. He has almost no appetite, his diarrhea continues, and we are still waiting for his lab results to hopefully give the doctors some answers. We don’t know what is wrong yet, and that is the hardest part, just sitting here waiting and hoping the doctors can figure it out and save him.

I would trade anything in the world to see Leo healthy. I would give anything to take this suffering away from him.

I can’t even sleep. My body has been shaking constantly, and I feel completely hopeless and helpless just waiting for the next update from the doctors. I keep asking myself what else I can do for him.

His first emergency bill was $861.

His treatment bill at the hospital has already reached $3,000, and I know this fight is not over. These expenses are becoming overwhelming, and I desperately need help.

While my heart is breaking for Leo, I am also incredibly grateful that Lucky is finally safe. ❤️

Lucky was an older, very feral cat I rescued from the streets near a dumpster. He was struggling to survive outside, and because of his age, health issues, and being so feral, finding him a safe place was extremely difficult. He is FIV and FeLV positive and also had an eye condition that required surgery.

Before Lucky could leave for the sanctuary, he desperately needed a bath. He was covered in pee and poop, and honestly, I didn’t want to put him through a bath after everything he had already been through. But it was necessary, and there simply wasn’t time to wait.

I called many hospitals hoping someone could help clean him, but they all refused. I was running out of options and time. Thankfully, I found a wonderful and very kind lady who runs a grooming business, and she agreed to help Lucky. ❤️

Lucky completely surprised me. 🥺 He was so calm during his bath and while she carefully cleaned him.

I just wanted him to arrive at his new home clean, comfortable, and feeling a little better after everything he had been through. ❤️

For Lucky’s trip to the sanctuary, I also had to rent a car. My own car is not working properly, and I was worried that I could risk getting stranded somewhere in the middle of the road with Lucky. I didn’t want to take that chance. I just wanted to make sure we were safe and that I could get Lucky to the sanctuary without something going wrong along the way.

After everything Lucky had been through, he finally made it to a sanctuary where he can live safely and have other cats around him. He was scared when he arrived and hid under a pink bench while the other cats came over to smell him. Then they simply gave him space, almost like they understood that he needed time. 🥺❤️

For the first time, Lucky doesn’t have to live on the streets, searching for food and trying to survive. His suffering outside is over.

But getting Lucky to safety also came with expenses…his veterinary care, his bath and cleaning, his transport, the rental car, and his sanctuary intake fee. I am now trying to cover those expenses while also facing Leo’s rapidly growing medical bills.

And my rescue work doesn’t stop.

Every single day I care for community cats. I feed them, provide fresh water, care for sick and injured cats, trap cats for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), take cats to the veterinarian when they need medical attention, rescue abandoned cats and kittens, and provide whatever help I can to the animals who have nobody else.

I do this on my own, and right now I am trying to keep fighting for Leo while continuing to care for all the cats who depend on me every single day.

I am exhausted. I am scared. But I cannot stop fighting for them.

Appointments still needed for Soot, and Jack! We are also in need of wet food and senior food.

Sokka is a senior TNR and was a part of a small colony at our last residence. We could not leave the ones that were no longer feral during our efforts and is now a senior resident of our rescue. He has been adapting well to indoor life. With the help from this community, we were able to take him in for his URI! He got an antibiotic shot and we updated his rabies vaccine while in.

Soot is a foster who is currently available for adoption. Soot has feline asthma and is due for a recheck and will need a new prescription for his inhaler. Soot is also needing to get shots while in. We are hoping to get him seen as soon as possible.

Jack is a senior resident who has been getting treatment for glaucoma. We are experiencing some disagreements with the vets office he was initially seen at and would like a second opinion to advocate for the best care. We need to take him to not only have the second opinion but he is also due for his standard re-check.

We are only able to help these babies with the help of donations. We are also fundraising for a catio as well as our general Amazon wishlist items for those in our care. We are running low on senior kitty food and wet cat food.

It had been almost two months since I last played with Snorlax, but yesterday, he finally played with me again. Seeing a little bit of his old self return made me incredibly happy and gave me some much needed hope.

Unfortunately, he vomited again today, so I am still very worried. He has been moving around a little more, and right now he is sleeping peacefully on his cat tree, but we still do not know what is making him sick.

Snorlax’s biopsy is scheduled for next week. The biopsy is necessary to help us understand what is wrong and determine what treatment he needs. However, I still do not have enough money to pay for it. If I cannot raise the remaining funds in time, I might not be able to get his biopsy done.
