Yes I know merchants have to pay but in my opinion that should just be part of running their business. I scheduled an appointment last week to get 4 new tires installed for tomorrow. I got a reminder text today saying that they charge 3% for paying with a credit card. I promptly cancelled. I was already going to pay $877 so there is no way I am going to pay an extra $26 because I am using my card. I'm just tired of everyone wanting more. Fees for everything. Service charges. I'm over it.

Yes I know. I could pay cash or use my debit. I can also cancel and go somewhere else which I am doing.

All of 2026 has basically been me waiting for someone else to do something or something to happen. Waiting for a friend to get back to me. Waiting for some job news. Waiting to get hired. Waiting for a client to either agree or reject an offer. Waiting to get paid.

Is there a way to deal with this without sounding desperate? I never message people more than twice before they reply. And smartphones are like limbs, so it's become near impossible to excuse people not replying.

I did the first leg of my trip last week and got stuck in a middle seat. Knees against the reclined person in front of me, pinned in the middle, couldn't move. Painful experience. So on my return flight today I paid $25 extra to have lots of legroom (exit row). Yay! Except ... I had a man-spreading huge guy next to me. Honestly, I wasn't angry at him because he was just a naturally big guy, not obese. But it sucked. I showed the airline stewardess and she asked me whether I wanted to move (full flight) or if she should speak to him. I said no, I just wanted a smile and sympathy. And she did that. Smiled, gave me a little hug, and said hey it's only 2.5hrs. What a sweetheart. But, cmon, this sucks. This was the 2/3 room I had for the whole flight.
