At first glance, you’d swear this was carved from wood. But it’s actually made entirely from paper.
Artist Li Hongbo transforms thousands of layers of paper into a flexible honeycomb structure, which he then sculpts into remarkably realistic human forms. The result is a sculpture that can stretch, bend, and expand when pulled, almost like an accordion.

Years ago I fell in love with Hindu-Balinese wood carvings. Back then I bought some cheap balinese carvings and brought them back from Indonesia to Berlin.
I always wanted to make something cool out of them but never had the time due to work, being a parent, everyday life and a pandemic.

Last year I finally had some spare time and used it all to craft a DIY Balinese shrine door.
I’m not a professional carpenter nor do I have a woodworking shop, I also didn’t have all the right tools so I had to make do with what I had which was a jigsaw, a sander and some wood rasps.
Despite all that, I’m pretty happy with the outcome and now the door sits snuck between our kitchen and bedroom. :)
