ಠ_ಠ Waiting...waiting...waiting

All of 2026 has basically been me waiting for someone else to do something or something to happen. Waiting for a friend to get back to me. Waiting for some job news. Waiting to get hired. Waiting for a client to either agree or reject an offer. Waiting to get paid.

Is there a way to deal with this without sounding desperate? I never message people more than twice before they reply. And smartphones are like limbs, so it's become near impossible to excuse people not replying.

Sometimes you have to choose between possibly being annoying, or being forgotten.

In my experience, people who are going to reply, don’t mind the reminder.

So very well-said. There was a time in my life where I was extremely transactional. If someone answers me a few hours late, I do the same to them. And I made 100% to have the "favors" scale tip on my side. Wasn't a very healthy way to live, but it sure made me catch the no-gooders.

Welcome to life.

Yikes. Life?? Things weren't like this before Covid. Because I swear some people are stuck in Covid mode, when bosses suddenly started accepting work after deadlines...Even mean ones. Everything was optional." No hurry...The world might be ending anyway" was the mantra.

It still is the mantra have you seen the cold war we’re in

And it's all coming together like snow in an avalanche. With AI too...😆.

Practice self relience and learn to be happy alone

This thought lingers in my head. But my friends and I are so close, you'll not believe the things we do for each other. Things haven't been the same since Covid, but for example, a friend and I lived together once. And his paycheck would arrive late. So all he had to do, was take any amount of money he needed from my closet and leave me a piece of paper just saying how much he took.

Yup last Xmas applied for a job, by Jan 5th I had a go in and see the place talk to the boss on a Sunday and then the next day got a text saying since there was no contract they’re not hiring me

Then I went to a small course online and enrolled went in for the group interview on my birthday 2 days before it was meant to start I got email saying they over did it on numbers and I can either do the course online or wait until next intake

Shit sucks

A text message, phone call or voicemail is not a legal order to respond.

True, but if you're not going to hire me, you should have the courtesy of letting me know so that I can mentally let that go and make room for the other things on my mind.

That's the thing. I hate blaming people...But come on, a friend...a good friend asked you if you could X, and you said yes. You know your friend needs X by the end of the month. Either tell them you couldn't, or won't for whatever reason. Not replying at all is not good taste.
