Sebastian was rescued from chapel hill area with her mom and siblings,but while in foster care, he became bonded with Samuel. They are best friends and MUST be adopted together.

📍 RESCUE NOTE:
The rescue is based in Charlotte, NC, but we rescue throughout NC and parts of SC. Many of these kitties came from the Triangle area.

Please, I don’t need judgment or negativity. I am a volunteer doing everything I can to help these cats find safe and loving homes. I am sharing their situation because their time is running out.

They are with us only until today. Some of the kitties are going to the shelter today, and some are going tomorrow. We are trying so hard to find them homes before it’s too late. 💔

These two beautiful boys are among the 12 kitties who are running out of time.

Sebastian is our adorable cross-eyed boy, and both he and Samuel are absolute love bugs. They are sweet, funny, playful, affectionate, and incredibly loving.

They deserve the chance to grow old together in a loving home.

We have had a little good news ..two bonded pairs were just adopted, and one sweet orange girl has an adoption pending. But the rest are still waiting, and Sebastian and Samuel are two of them.

This year has been incredibly difficult for our rescue. We have had fewer adoptions, less support, more sick cats, more bottle babies, more abandoned cats, and more returns.

We are a foster- and volunteer-based rescue and are completely over capacity. Many of our fosters are already caring for 10+ cats. The rescue and fosters have been putting so much of their own money into these cats, but we have reached our limit.

That’s why finding homes for the cats already in our care is so important.

Another Triangle government has put data centers on hold.

Cary unanimously approved an 18-month moratorium while it studies water, grid capacity, noise, land use and other impacts. Apex and Holly Springs have adopted pauses of up to 12 months, while Durham County approved nine months.

The interesting wrinkle is that Cary council members explicitly said they aren’t necessarily opposed to data centers. They want regulations in place before dealing with a large-scale proposal.

With the school year kicking off, felt like a good time to share it. Curious how funding (or the lack of it) has shown up in your local district. I do not have children of my own, I have nieces that are in public and private school. I want some context for what it is like as a parent. I remember being a public school student in NC during the 90s.

Are they redoing their studio or do they just not have any more funding for the news department? I usually watch WRAL but switched over tonight. WRAL Is showing football.

I live in Durham, and recently I've gotten really back into playing retro Pokemon games on original hardware; mainly gen 3 right now, but also am playing through Yellow and Diamond, and I kinda plan to slowly "set up" in each gen 1-7, and get a roster of good Pokemon in all of them. That being said, I'm kinda curious if there are other people still into the older games locally, esp the early gens and in gen 6/7 where playing online isn't a thing currently, and who may be interested in battles, trading, mixing records, etc. at some point? I do also play the modern games too, so if you're into those I'd love to hear from you still! Finding Pokemon friends as an adult is hard lol

Moving to the area and trying to figure out where to actually land before I commit to a lease/house. Would love some local wisdom before I start wandering around in person.

Quick vibe check on what I'm into:

Neighborhood stuff: I want somewhere social - easy to bump into people, strike up conversations, actually build community. Not trying to live somewhere isolated where I never see a neighbor.

Nature vs. city: honestly torn — I love the idea of trails and green space but also don't want to lose city energy/coffee shops/things happening. If there's a spot that gives both, tell me.

Where I'm coming from: the last 13 years were spent in California and Colorado, where I found incredible community around consciousness work, movement/dance, and personal growth/self-discovery spaces. That meant a lot to me, but I'm also genuinely looking forward to integrating back into everyday life too — so I'm curious about both the wellness/growth-minded pockets AND the more everyday, mainstream social scene.

Me: single, female, late -30s, work is remote so I have flexibility on where I plant myself. Dating with marriage in mind (heterosexual, monogamous), so if there are areas known for a solid dating pool / young professional social scene, that's a plus in the "pro" column.

Bonus: have family near west Cary, so that area's on the radar, but I'm not locked into it

We have a friend coming into town and are looking for recommendations of the best escape room in the area. Something in central or south Raleigh, Cary, Apex, or Holly Springs is preferred, but also generally interested in hearing what you all think is the best in Wake County (and Durham!, though that's a bit far for us this weekend when our friend is in town).

Tl;dr: The title. Serious, or fun, or whatever type of answer, anything goes. This is a remix of something I asked on r/SameGrassButGreener.

Why would I choose UNC over Duke or WakeMed, for example, and vic versa. What are they good at, and bad at? And is there a location that is better than another?

Longer: Would like to hear personal opinions on the quality/wait times/availability of specialists/etc of the ERs, hospital services, doctors, and healthcare access between the different Triangle cities and towns. I'd like to hear about the big medical centers as well as smaller local hospitals, doctors, etc. I know they have PR budgets to help get on Best Of lists, but I'm interested to learn if they live up to the hype.

Fwiw I have high medical care needs, I could probably make life work in any of these places (if I land a job, I'm trying to relocate back home to the Southeast or Mid-Atlantic), I have preferences but what it really comes down to is healthcare. I'd live in New England if I could but the weather is a serious factor for me, plus CoL. I've ruled out some places like Savannah, Charleston, Asheville based on their healthcare (mostly). Also, I'm a mixed race woman, so a hospital that can and will treat people like me with equal care is essential (I don't mean in theory, actions talk louder than words). Thanks.

What I can tell you about this sweet pooch? She is a 4 year old, 12 lb Chihuahua mix with precious “fur angel wings” markings currently being fostered in Durham, NC.

Roxy was rescued earlier this year by Crisis Dogs NC and had puppies shortly after. She is gentle and quiet, pensive and curious. She loves attention and scratches and doesn't need much else. She isn't even bothered by thunderstorms. She can be timid when meeting new faces and other dogs--but she doesn't jump or bark. She loves neighborhood walks and enjoys sniffing, watching, and taking in the world. But her favorite place is her bed--unless someone is offering to pet her!
