Medical Questions mouth surgery

Upvotes

Hello! My boy is estimated to be around 10 years old (I’ve had him for over 3 years). We recently discovered he has a lump in his mouth under and next to his tongue when we went to the vet because I didn’t understand why he was salivating excessively. I went to a vet in another city and we tried to do a citology as the results were said to come quicker than a biopsy but unfortunately the test was inconclusive:( We’re giving him prednisolone, he’s eating and being his usual loving self. The problem is that the vet recommended a surgery to get the lump extracted but he said that I should not expect my baby to live for too long and that the quality of his life will be impacted post surgery.

For those who have been through similar situations with your senior babies, did you opt for surgery and if yes do you regret it?

Mourning/Loss A cats love

I apologize in advance if this post amd flair does not follow suit to this sub

I lost my father 4 days ago and my two girls have inexplicably been tied to my side I dont cry but I have become a shell of who I should be. Just going through the motions of life mainly to keep them happy. But yet they don't ask to play, they stopped asking for the routine timing of their meals and their treats. They just snuggle and smother me. They take turns on who gets to be on my chest and who sits between my legs.

I used to be the kind of person who just assumed cats were not loyal or affectionate until I got the chance to have the two I have now ( 1 I have had for 2 years and has taught me so much, the other is have had for about 5 months).

I wish others knew how intuitive and smart cats can be and how grateful we should be to have earned their love just as dog owners feel.

Sorry in my feels here is some cat tax

Advice My mom came over and started saying my cat is to skinny and I need to fatten him up which has me questioning how hes doing.

My mother is a terrible pet owner and has never owned a cat in her life which makes me think she doesn't know what she's talking about, but I also don't mind being wrong if it helps him be healthy. He's 10 years old from the picture guides online I think hes fine cause I can feel his ribs but not see them same with his spine but im a big dude so he has always felt like a small kitten to me which makes it hard to tell sometimes. I dont have a problem taking him to the vet it just really stresses him out when he has to leave the house so I dont want to put him through that just cause I got spooked if he is fine.

Update- To add some information to questions hes 8.6lbs he used to eat 6 ounces of wet food at day 3 in the morning 3 at night but he started to eat ot to fast and throw up so I swapped to 4 times 1.5 each and he stopped have any issues with throwing up his food. Little robot shows he is having no changes in bathroom usage. Energy seems the same as always still behaving the same with me.

Going to set up a vet check up just to be sure from the comments. Thanks for looking at my cat. His fur was looking rough cause I just got home from a double and he was passed out like a log not expecting me so late normally is well brushed.

Medical Questions Cat almost had a urinary blockage again

Upvotes

Hello!

About two weeks ago, my 1.5 year old ginger cat had his first urinary blockage and had to be hospitalized for 72 hours with a catheter. He was sent home on medication and we switched him to Royal Canin urinary prescription food.

Last night and this morning, he peed on my bed twice and there was some blood in his urine. He was also going to the litter box frequently and producing smaller amounts of urine. We took him back to the vet today, and thankfully he was not fully blocked. They said he was in the early stages of potentially blocking again. They ran bloodwork, urine testing, and X-rays and gave him medication. They classified it as a UTI/urinary inflammation that could have progressed into another blockage if we hadn’t brought him in.

What are some precautions, early warning signs, or preventative measures we can take at home to hopefully keep this from progressing into another blockage?

He has no issues staying hydrated as he loves drinking water regularly. We’re aware of the PU surgery as an option if his blockages continue, but our vet doesn’t recommend going that route at this point since he’s only a year old and explained that it can also leave him more prone to urinary infections afterward. Obviously, if he shows signs of actually being blocked we will take him in immediately, but repeated emergency visits and hospitalizations are extremely costly. I’d really like to know what others recommend for managing this long-term, what we should be monitoring at home, and whether there are things we can do or catch early enough to prevent every flare-up from turning into another emergency.

Thank you in advance!!

Medical Questions Should i go to Urgent care soon?

For context, my cat and i got i to a scuffle over brushing her (still mad at her for this lol) and she got me good. It happened about a day ago, and everything looks to be healing normally. But i keep having this throbbing pain on my left arm/forearm. I keep seeing this as a sign of cat scratch disease and that i should go, but none of the other symptoms align, idk if this is just inflammation from the amount of cuts on my hand and arm or if its that serious. Just need some advice on next steps and also if anyone had gone thru something similar.

Advice How can I keep stray cats warm?

Upvotes

Hello, there is 1-2 stray kitties that have come back to my townhome and i feed them 2 times a day. He has an owner. But he loves to pretend like homeless. Every morning, every evening, every night he will come to our house and hangout. He demands to be pet all the time. But my cats don't seem to be pleased. I don't know whose cat it is. But we just feed him. I guess he has two owners now.
