Not sure if this is the best subreddit to ask, but my daughter started kindergarten in July and I’m looking for some advice on track out camps. She’s in track 2, and am starting to think that track 2 might be the worst one. I fully realize this is only our first track out and we don’t have much experience, but it looks like the city of Raleigh doesn’t even offer programs for track 2, but does for 1, 3 and 4 (which is insane if true considering taxes probably fund them), and we’ve had 3 camps cancel on us because our daughter was the only one signed up (last one this morning as we’re getting ready to go). We’re not picky on area either, this one was in Cary which would be over a half hour each way. I had another (4th try) I messaged about on IG and they told me they had nobody signed up too and were closing registration Saturday night. They told me Track 2 is hard. Is this anyone else’s experience or are we just unlucky this track out period?

I keep seeing this stated about UNC football but what exactly does it mean? Are they being compliant or are they telling people to act compliant and someone put the HR approved posters up in the locker room telling them to be compliant?

This is a question for either union members of either of these or anyone generally familiar with these two unions/types of work. I'm in North Caroline and I have a friend that works for 421 and one that works for 553, giving me someone to potentially vouch for me to get into them. I've done some research on both unions but I wanted some opinions from those with firsthand experience. How is the work like in them? Which one is harder and which one is more rewarding? If you had a choice, which would you rather go into? I'd be starting as an apprentice either way, so I know it might suck for a while.

I saw an instragram post of someone going from Raleigh to Salisbury by train. But I am having a hard time finding how exactly you find the train destinations and schedules for where you can go by train. Does anyone know where I can find a map/time table?

Please bear with me for a small rant. I didn’t want to take this home with me, so putting it here. This morning at H-Mart in Cary, I was waiting 2–3 minutes for a car to pull out of a spot. I had my turn signal on and was clearly waiting for it. As the guy pulled out, some guy coming from the opposite direction immediately pulled into the spot. I honked, and after he parked, he then came out I calmly said, “Hey, just so you know, you stole the spot.” I was smiling and was completely ready to end it with, “That’s okay, have a nice day.” Instead, he replied, “Do you have your name on it?” That really pissed me off. Not because I lost a parking spot, but because of the sheer disrespect and attitude behind that response. I stayed calm, didn’t engage, and just left because I didn’t want someone else’s behavior to ruin my day.

I’m Indian and have lived in the U.S. for 11 years. I’ve experienced racial comments before and usually brushed them off. I genuinely love this country, which is why I’m wondering about this one: was his comment simply an asshole response, or could race have played a part? I honestly don’t know. More importantly, how would you have responded? Did I handle it the right way by just walking away?

Does anyone know of places locally to pick up physical media? For new stuff I usually check Barnes & Noble (and hope they have a sale) or Walmart (limited selection...also the Wally by me SUCKS).

I currently go to Renaissance Dental at North Hills for my dental work. I'm fairly happy with their work so far, but the prices feel atrocious. I wanted to ask if y'all can share approximately how much your dentist charges for things like crowns and onlays?

At renaissance dental, a porcelain crown costs roughly ~$1400 total, and an onlay is like ~$1600. This is all before insurance. Then they also offer a "protection plan" that costs an additional $200 for each crown/onlay, in case the material breaks within 5 years.

Growing up in the 2000s and in the 2010s, South Saunders wasn’t the nicest part of Raleigh but it really wasn’t noticeable unless you drove into the residential neighborhoods next to it. But in the last 3-4 years it seems like there has been a rise in homelessness and it has gotten noticeably worse this year. Apart from the rising prices of homes and drug use what do you think is causing this? Do you think some of it is spillover from the people that got gentrified from New Bern Avenue/ Rock Quarry area neighborhoods?

Hey everyone, a bit of an embarrassing question but I’d really appreciate some good recommendations —

I just recently moved to Raleigh and as a result have lost the lady I’ve seen for Botox for probably 10+ years at this point. And while I could just randomly show up at a beauty spa, I’d really appreciate a solid recommendation from somebody who’s been a longtime patient and trusts their provider! I’ve just heard so many horror stories, and with my gal, I never felt she was trying to upsell me or be anything less than conscientious, I’ve been very lucky. Never had a problem and always been beneficial tbh.

Additional context: I’m a guy and don’t exactly broadcast that I’ve gotten Botox over the years LOL so I have no one to ask! And let me tell you, it’s made a significant difference thru my late 20s and my 30s, so I don’t think I ought to just stop! And to anyone wondering, it’s not like my face just looks frozen, I think it’s always been very natural.

Obviously I’m a little concerned about price but more than that, just want somebody good, reliable, who’s not going to overinject — I’ve gotten it on the forehead and around both eyes.

Plus, as a guy, you typically need a little more than a female because our muscles are just stronger.
