Life Stories Flirting Fail

Upvotes

There’s this girl who works at a family owned coffee shop out here in Minnie Apple is Minnie soda. She’s a cutie. I never made a move or really talked about anything other than coffee. I guess cuz it was a convenient spot that I liked that was never crowded and I didn’t wanna do anything that would ever jeopardize me being inclined to go to my nice lil spot.

Anyway so she actually made outside of coffee conversation and says “You’re here a lot these days huh. I’m starting to think you come to see me.”

So obviously I’m on the spot now. And im flustered cuz I feel the need to say something witty or like memorable. Know wat I mean?

I reply with “I mean I don’t have to come inside. I get a lot of viewing time from the shrubs haha”😀

She did this very confused face where she raised an eyebrow almost as if to say like 😐“wow you’re a weirdo”

DO U NOT LIKE JOKES LIKE FUCKIN HELL?!

After that I just waited for the coffee and then went on my laptop for a while.

So should I go back and double down on the shrub joke? Be like “back to the shrubs” when I leave out the door?Kidding kidding
I’ll probably just go to Starbucks for a while…

Just Chatting EMBARRASSING moment i still think about from time to time

Upvotes

im working at a pizza place

guy comes in to pickup a order made on the phone

guy says “katie”

i see the bag that says “Katherine”

i assume that its his only because its the only mobile order and i thought “katherine is pretty close to katie”

I hand him the food and go “just so you know for next time it says Katherine”

customer does not look amused

I feel a deep sense of shame in my blood and realized that katie is just a nickname for katherine in 5 seconds after he is gone

I enjoy being fat, does anytime else?

Upvotes

I realized I have no interest in losing weight even though I'm heavy. I'm happy being fat, its comfortable to me. I actually like being soft and heavy, does anyone else feel this way?

Just Chatting I found a new obession of mine, Listening to ASMR to fall asleep

Upvotes

I was one of those guys who found the ASMR genre a bit weird, though I liked watching food asmr where the person eats stuff, but never was into ASMR until recently. I discovered that ASMR actually helps me sleep. The university life and the gazillion stuff that come with it, and being a football fan can make my sleep schedule horrendoeus. But man, I have been feeling great recently- well, just two days so far, but I am able to fall asleep peacefully XD. However, it does have it's downside as I use headsets and my phone, which dies too quickly; I'm waking up in the morning or noon (dont ask me why noon) with my phone dead. Suffering from success lol.

Would love it if y'all can share some good ASMR stuff to watch or listen to fall asleep.

mild creepiness never hurt anything, right?

Upvotes

basically they sent a picture of their house, i asked about the location, they asked how i knew that. and it was because i looked at the metadata

for context, this person has discussed looking up someone's voting party before (i didn't even know that was possible)

they did say there was nothing to worry about, but, idk it feels like i've completely ruined things despite not actually knowing this

i know this person relatively well and i think i just have to act calmly and not respond for the next like 5 days - but i'm so curious if this is a big deal??

would you be creeped out if someone knew your location from a picture you sent them? where you didn't intend to give your location? i genuinely thought everyone knew this

Just Chatting Do you actually believe “everything happens for a reason”

Upvotes

What are your thoughts?

Just curious. I don’t have much to say on this cause I’m unsure, all the waiting for things to happen and all the depressing things that go on in life as well as losing someone close even though I know everyone has an ending.

I’m not sure at this point I guess I’m just rambling now

Technology What happened to 9gag?

Upvotes

9gag was my entry into social media, really early 2010s when I was a kid, I was constantly on there, and it seemed to be a fun space. Now its an alt-right, perverted cesspit. How did it all happen?

I remember seeing someone saying it was always right wing, I might've not picked up on that at the time.

Today

Upvotes

Today somerhing really strange happened while I was coming back from my Bharatanatyam class. I alongwith with my 9 year old boarded a rickshaw. Usually they charge ₹20 till my destination per swat. But he asked me to pay ₹30 instead. Although it was not too big an amount still i started to affirm that it only ₹20than why would I pay more. He pointed at my daughter and said that even she's travelling hence you must pay 10 more.

I agreed and as I made the payment (in advance - i was yet to reach my destination) he asked me to share the screenshot of the payment i made. (I paid through UPI).

As he looked at ₹30 screenshot he got wild and mad at me. He demanded 10 bucks more. I argued with him, stating i anyways am paying 19 more than the usual rate.

He pointed at the third passenger and said tou must pay for him too. I couldn't beleuve as ri why he wants me to pay for a stranger. Than i thiught for a while, and was about to reach to reach my wallet suddenly he gave me a ridiculous look. I didn't like his expressions so he said you must pay for your son too. I immediately confirm3e that I just have one child.

He sheepishly said, "I thought you are travelling g with your 2 children."

Altgiugh i didn't want to sit in the rickshaw again but still I took the same.

Food & Drinks What’s the ultimate "everyday" meal on a typical American dinner table?

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m really curious about real American home cooking. Not what people get at restaurants, but the actual everyday comfort food that almost every family eats during the week. What’s that one dish or food item that you’ll practically always find in a normal American household? Thanks!

Technology If you are looking for help and post a photo of your screen instead of a screenshot, I'm not helping.

This frustrates the everliving shit out of me. You're asking for help but then not providing the best image of the problem? Clearly you should have your devices taken away.

Just me?

Questions Does caffeine cure some “sadness/depressed” symptoms?

Upvotes

I don’t have diagnosed depression or anything like that.

I’ve just liked caffeine since I was younger(not loved it and I’d effortlessly quit for months at a time). I’d have energy drinks while gaming cause I liked feeling awake energetic, especially to socialise. Anyways, over time I’ve learned that caffeine doesn’t just make you feel less tired, it affects dopamine too right? Basically meaning if you’re doing something you enjoy, you’ll enjoy it more. I’ve definitely felt this.

Now this brings me to my other point. Days like today, there’s been some longer term stuff that have been in my thoughts and I didn’t really have much to do today or to look forward to. I was also feeling a little isolated. I have friends and loved ones, so I KNOW for sure these feelings will pass and it’s a cycle. But something hit me, I didn’t have any caffeine for a couple days. And tonight, some of that ambiguous sadness that I am sure will was there for some reason.

I was to point out, I did have some and I’m feeling better, and also found something else to focus on, I’m not venting and there’s no need for anyone to worry.
So genuinely think to yourself, do you relate? And am I onto something or no?

Just Chatting Tell me about the most nervous you've ever been.

Upvotes

For me, it has to be anytime I've had a job interview. I've had a few in my life and to me that's about as nerve wrecking as it gets. I tend to get nervous pretty easily in general though. How about you all?

Life Stories I just read about a guy who walked 450km (280 miles) just to clear his head, and I can't stop laughing at the dedication.

Upvotes

Apparently, this Italian guy got into a silly argument at home, stepped outside for a walk to cool off, and just... kept walking. For a straight week.

He covered 450 km, survived on food given by random strangers, and only stopped because the police stopped him and fined him €400. The best part is his family had to drive all the way across the country to pick him up.

My ultimate "I need to cool off" walk is usually just to the end of my street and back. What is the most exaggerated or funny thing you’ve done just to get some alone time or clear your head?

Life Stories My school district had segregated gym classes for boys and girls and I’m finding out that was not normal lol

Upvotes

This happened at the middle school and high school I went to in TX within the last 10 years. Boys and girls gym were usually at the same time but we were almost never together in the same area (one of two gyms or the outside fields). The only times we were together was when a gym teacher was out sick or to play dodgeball for some reason. This was not a small town.

When and why did you stop playing with toys ?

Upvotes

So I was my kid and I were playing with his action figures and was reminded how fun it is . I know people are going to say , no one stopping you from playing with toys but I think there’s a stigma around it after a certain age to still be doing it . I have friends that’s are toy collectors but I think that’s different, just being able to sit and let your imagination take over is somewhat stress reliving

Life Stories My dad accidentally gave an elderly couple a eulogy at the arcade

Upvotes

A few years ago, my family were at an arcade playing the two-penny machines. There was an elderly couple on the machine behind us who had clearly been there for quite a while too. We’re talking quite elderly. We started making the occasional bit of small talk about the various toys and keychains we were trying to win.

Please note: the lady had a cough.

As time went on, we could hear the couple behind us laughing every time the coins fell, along with the occasional excited exclamation when they thought they were close to winning. We’d smile and laugh along with them.

Eventually, they finally won whatever it was they’d been trying to get. We all cheered, congratulated them, and had a little laugh together.

There was a brief moment of silence, before my dad looked the elderly man directly in the eyes, put a hand on his shoulder, and loudly said:
“You can both rest in peace now.”

Silence.

The couple gave a polite smile.

We all went our separate ways.

I have no idea what possessed him to choose those particular words, but I can only assume he meant it in the sense of “you can relax now that you’ve finally won.”

I think about it every time I see a two-penny machine.

I made phở

Upvotes

I made phở for my family dinner tonight. It was like 90% authentic, with all trimmings like Thai basil and mung beans sprouts.

I think I've never cooked a full Vietnamese dinner for my American family before. I'll have to try to do it more often!

What kind of dinners do you eat with your family?

Questions What’s the biggest "luxury" rip-off you’ve ever experienced or seen firsthand?

Upvotes

I've been thinking lately about how much money people spend just for a brand name. Have you ever bought or encountered a high-end product or premium service that turned out to be absolute garbage? What was it, and what made it a total letdown?

Questions Do you judge homes that are cluttered/ messy?

Upvotes

Hi!

TLDR: Do you judge homes that are a bit messy clutters with nic-nacs. It’s nowhere near a hoarder situation. There isn’t a pile of trash, dirty clothes, or dirty dishes. I want to have guests over but it never seems guest ready to me.

A lil bit of background:
I would consider myself pretty well organized and a minimalist. However, I moved into my BF home , who takes care of his elderly parents. They have a lifetime of nic backs and trinkets, and a very different approach to daily clean up/ maintenance.
Additionally we live with our dog and newborn.

People want to come over to see the baby and visit. I want people to come over but I feel like the home isn’t guest ready.

Of course, we do plan to deep clean the restroom, sweep and mop, tidy up the living room, and wipe down the counter space that is available. But I just feel like it isn’t enough. I internalize that I should be doing more to clean and organize, but at the same time I can’t change other people’s habits/behavior.

So it begs the question- do you judge homes that have lots of love in them , but maybe some extra stuff and maybe some extra dust on the base boards?

Questions If you were given about $500k to start a business, what would it be?

Upvotes

It doesn’t have to be groundbreaking. I like the idea of cafés even if they’re overdone. I also would want to have a paid apprenticeship service, so that aspiring workers could quickly get the necessary certifications and experience for jobs that are hard to break into, despite not requiring advanced formal education.

Just Chatting Tell me your best Meet-Cute story

Upvotes

I once met someone in an airport in another state. I spotted him across the airport with his guitar and smiled. He continued to walk closer, and it turned out we were on the same flight. I approached him to talk as we were waiting at the gate, and we started singing together while he played the guitar. A few people even approached us and asked for our band name. On the flight I scribbled my number and asked the flight attendant to bring it to the cute guy in the back of the plane. She was thrilled to and continued to pass notes between the two of us for the whole flight. It was like something out of a movie. The rest wasn’t, but nevertheless, I love the story. What’s your Meet Cute moment?
