Intervals progression
Trying to add hiit in to my schedule because...
I love jump rope
I have established a good strength training routine
I'm 43F, 64kg and 5'7. Never had a super defined waist but I am lean. That said in recent months my mid section feels more "boxy" and rumour has it a few high interval sessions a week can help.

My Tabata protocol
weigh 65 kg. I used to do boxing, but now I only do the Tabata protocol at home.
This is the workout routine that helped me significantly improve my punching power, explosiveness, and overall physical strength for boxing. I use two 22.5 kg dumbbells for the Tabata protocol.
The first set is dumbbell cleans.
The second set is right-arm snatches.
The third set is left-arm snatches.
The fourth set is ankle hops.
Then I repeat the same four sets once more, for a total of eight sets.
Each set consists of 20 seconds of all-out effort followed by 10 seconds of rest.
My average numbers are roughly as follows:
• Set 1: Dumbbell cleans — 17–18 reps
• Set 2: Right-arm snatches — 11–12 reps
• Set 3: Left-arm snatches — 11–12 reps
• Set 4: Ankle hops — 47–50 reps
• Set 5: Dumbbell cleans — about 16 reps
• Set 6: Right-arm snatches — 12 reps
• Set 7: Left-arm snatches — 12 reps
• Set 8: Ankle hops — 57 reps
Those are approximately my average numbers.
I feel that this workout has dramatically improved my physical abilities. What do you think about this training routine and the level of physical ability these numbers suggest?

10 Minute Body Weight AMRAP that kicks butt!
Pretty brutal body weight workout at that pace:
- T-Push-ups — 10 reps
- 2Strict Sit-ups — 12 reps
- 3High Knees — 20 reps
Try to pull off 7+ rounds at this consistent of a pace in 10 minutes.
I'm a 51 year old male, 205 lbs, 3rd workout of the day.

What do you look for in a homework out app?
Killed it in a 15 minute workout called “The Pacesetter”
Combat sprawls x 10
Air squats x 20
Mountain climbers x 30
Completed 990 reps or 11 rounds with 18.4% variance between rounds (got faster as I went).
Seems easy but it definitely isn’t.

Which sneakers ?
I have very flat feet and usually use hokas, they are great but heavy and not good for hiit training.
Does anyone recommend a lightweight sneaker for flat feet?

Body weight AMRAP
I’d like to find some people that want to join me for an online AMRAP workout at amrapwithfriends.com
I’ve done 4 workouts now and they are true body weight butt kickers, especially doing the volume training against the clock.
Yesterday’s workout: 15 minute AMRAP
20 Air Squats
10 Push-ups with hand raises
15 V-Ups
The v-ups were what got me.
I completed 540 reps in 15 minutes. I’d already done 3 other workouts so it was a little tired.
I also completed a 5 minute “sidewinder” workout 10 side planks left and 10 right. Another tough one in such a short amount of time.

I made a fitness app that generates workout blocks to do with your friends - would you use this?
Been lifting for years and kept running into the same friction: I either follow a rigid program I get bored of after week 3, or I walk in with zero plan and end up doing the same 4 exercises. So I'm prototyping an app and want to pressure-test the idea before I sink more time into it. Essentially, sessions are a fixed 45 minutes but you can customise your training blocks and how many exercises you want in each block. An AI generates the full workout, from exercise selection to sets/reps, rest periods, and format . Each block can run a different format: straight sets, EMOM, AMRAP, Tabata, or "Auto Mix" where it rotates them based on your goal. I kinda want to make it fun to do it with friends where you can share a party code and your are your friends can do the workout session together. While AI generated workouts are not novel, I thought it would be fun to add the element of doing the session with your friends where the devices are synced up so you are doing the session together (e.g. you split a 45 min session in to 3 blocks of 15 mins and you and your two friends can do a block each, then the app will you to switch blocks once the timer is up )Just wanna test if thi s idea is something people would use :)

Is Your Treadmill HIIT Actually Improving? Try a Free Data-Driven HIIT Evaluator
If you do treadmill HIIT regularly, it can be difficult to tell whether you're actually making progress — or what you should change next.
I've built a free treadmill HIIT evaluator that uses your wearable heart-rate data and workout metrics to establish your personal baseline, compare later sessions, and help guide small adjustments as your training develops.
I'm looking for people who want to try it with one of these goals:
- Fat Loss
- Fat Loss & Muscle Retention — especially if you also do strength training and want HIIT without unnecessarily interfering with recovery.
How it works
Your first workout establishes your personal baseline. Later workouts are compared with your own previous training data rather than a generic fitness standard.
After each upload, you receive a report showing your training output, the quality and consistency of your heart-rate response, recovery, progress over time, and what to watch or adjust next.
You'll need:
- A treadmill
- A wearable that records heart rate and workout data
- Willingness to follow a defined treadmill HIIT protocol so sessions can be meaningfully compared
The beta is free and self-service — you don't need to contact me first.
Try it here: https://www.hiitevaluator.com/
If you try it, I'd also really appreciate feedback — especially anything confusing, inconvenient, or different from what you expected.

Is this considered hiit?
I’m wondering if what I’m doing is hiit. I’ve been attempting to improve my vo2 and I’m at a loss. My watch says my vo2 is roughly 26.
I’m inclined to believe it due to my interactions in capoeira and other sports.
How can I improve this?
As far as vo2, am I wasting time?
Disclaimer:
I understand the watch is not 100% accurate. It still helps me track with some consistency
Basic stats:
43m
6’2ft
180lbs
How I feel at different heart rates
Tracking with apple ultra 3
@~160bpm: breathing increases, speaking
@~170bpm: heavy breathing, a word or two
@175bpm+: gasping, no words
@~183bpm I have puked on multiple occasions
it takes extreme will to go for very long
Desperately gasping
Hill stats:
per segment
Distance: .1 mile
Climb: 100ft
Rough terrain
The exercise:
1 lap Lap = 2 segments
Segment 1 is up
Segment 2 is down
*I do 3-5 laps (6-10 segments.) 5 days a week
After my laps is usually do an easy hike 3-5 miles. (After resting for 5-10 minutes)
Segment 1
Start segment 1: 135-140bpm
Halftime of segment: 155-160bpm (1:15)
End segment 1: 175-180bpm
Segment 2 begins no rest:
End lap 1: 140-145bpm
Lap 1 total time: 2:30
Lap 2 begins immediately no rest
I’m usually in the 175bpm+ for 15-20 seconds
The laps generally follow the same times and heart rate give or take 5 seconds.
When I’m going for a regular hike, I can easily do 15+ miles with zero issue. Often with zero rest depending on terrain.

Looking for Beta Testers: A Data-Driven Treadmill HIIT Training System
I'm looking for beta testers for a treadmill HIIT training system I've been developing. It uses wearable heart-rate data to evaluate each workout, establish a personal baseline, and track how your training develops over multiple sessions.
The goal isn't just to score individual workouts, but to use consistent feedback to help make small training adjustments and build sustainable progress over time.
Who I'm looking for
People whose training goal is either Fat Loss or Fat Loss & Muscle Retention, and who are willing to do treadmill HIIT consistently for several sessions.
What you get
Day 1 establishes your personal baseline. Each later workout is compared with your own previous training data, so you can see whether you're progressing and what to adjust next.
What you'll need to do
Follow a defined treadmill HIIT protocol, record the workout with a wearable, and upload the workout details + heart-rate chart.
How to find it
Google “HIIT workout evaluator” — HIIT Evaluator is currently the first result.
