Tomorrow I turn 18. If you could send one message to your 18 year old self, what would it be?

44, unemployed for a year, $650k saved — am I crazy for wanting out?
I’m 44 and have been unemployed for a year. I’m honestly exhausted by corporate life and the cycle of working hard → getting laid off → starting over.
I’ve worked since I was 16 and grew up poor, so I learned to be very frugal. I have about $200k in savings and $450k in my 401k. I don’t have kids. Even without a job, I’ve been able to keep my expenses around $2,500 a month.
The $450k is invested and, if it continues to grow at a reasonable long-term rate, could potentially reach $1M+ by the time I’m in my 60s, even without adding more.
So I’m starting to wonder what I should do next.
If you were in my position, would you keep pursuing corporate work, take something lower-paying, or go in a completely different direction?
I’d genuinely like to hear different perspectives — including if you think I’m being unrealistic.

What’s the hardest part about being an adult that nobody prepared you for?

What is something you can do today, that can completely ruin your life?
What’s something horrible and terrible you can do right now, that can completely change the trajectory of your life, like it’ll go to rock bottom afterwards, no employer will ever hire you again and you can’t get an apartment. Give me a few things.

What type of commutes do you guys have?
My commute is 112 miles roundtrip per day. Every time it comes up online people are appalled. I live in mississippi and mostly drive the interstate.
I thought others were doing this too. Especially in bigger places where I hear traffic is super bad. I would love to have a 15 minute commute when I move out of state.
So what are you guys driving per day? Is 2 hours a day considered bad in your area?
I absolutely hate driving so much to the point it has interfered with daily happiness. But I was told by my uncle not to be so soft and that most people do it.

It's my birthday today.
I'm 22. Can I get greetings?! I am sad, I have my friends and family but they don't remember that it's my birthday today 😔. Might as well get advice on being 22.

i just want to stop feeling this lonely
i'm 26, and before all this, i actually loved being single. i could do whatever i wanted and live however i wanted. i don't even know what's wrong with me lately, but whenever things get quiet, i suddenly realize how lonely i actually am.
lately, whenever something happens, my first thought is that i don't really have anyone to talk to.
99% of my friends are dating, married, or already have kids. sometimes i envy them because they already have someone beside them who they can talk to about anything.
they're always busy with their partners, and i don't really fit into their conversations anymore. so i've slowly started distancing myself and doing my own thing.
i just stay in my apartment alone. eat, scroll on my phone, sleep. then do it all again the next day.
some days, the silence feels really heavy.
these days, i mostly just end up talking to people on hinge or palaura. but eventually the conversations end, and everything around me gets quiet again.
sometimes i really do want to end my single life for someone who's actually worth it. but it's not that simple. i know logically that having a partner wouldn't solve all my problems. maybe it would just be nice to have someone there sometimes.
i don't know. maybe work hasn't been going that well lately. maybe i'm just tired. i think i just want to get away from everything for a while.
i'm just kind of stuck in this feeling right now.
does anyone else feel like this?

Can my parents keep my property if they took it when i was a minor?
For context, i (18M) was gifted a computer when i was 17 by my girlfriend as a gift. Sometime in late December last year, my parents took the computer from me because me and my of had broken up and they "didnt want me having anything that would remind me of her" (we broke up amicably and are still friends to this day). This year, i have asked them several times for it back and they keep telling me that they would "talk about it" and get back to me about it. I'm just trying to see if i have to get law enforcement involved for this situation
edit: thank you all for the advice. I think this was just the wake up call i needed. I plan on putting my foot down soon and i don't think i would have been able to if it weren't for the advice i received on this post. Wish me luck, and thank you all

I thought making more money would make me feel better. It mostly gave me new things to worry about.
I used to think a lot of my stress would disappear once I made more money. And some of it did. Bills became easier, unexpected expenses weren’t as scary, and I had more options.
But then my brain found new things to worry about. Now I find myself wondering if I’m saving enough, investing enough, whether I could lose what I’ve built, or why I’m still not further ahead. It’s strange realizing that money can solve financial problems without necessarily solving the feeling that something is missing.
Did making more money actually make you feel more at peace?

If you had the power to change ONE thing within the US and it *would* stick, nobody could change it. What would it be? I'm not talking about short-term issues such as getting rid of a single politician, but a sweeping change, a massive reform, something nobody could undo, what would you change?
And.... how would you do it?

I’m so fucking tired. I’m 23, does it ever getter better.
Like I pretty occupy 1/3 of my time to hobbies, and then work, and now I’m just don’t know when does “love” or finding my right person happen!

I’m 21, got a solid job offer, and my brain is fighting for its life to find an excuse to say no.
I’m 21 and about to accept a full-time job that’s genuinely "good" for my career, but the last couple of days my head has been inventing every possible reason to run away from it.
The schedule is long and the commute is annoying, but totally doable. The real issue is mental. Up until now, I was just a student living in theory all "potential," total control over my days, daydreaming about what I could be without ever having to put myself on the line.
Now that reality is knocking on the door, I feel this weird panic. Like saying yes means killing off all those open possibilities and trading my freedom for a rigid routine where I can actually fail or look stupid. I know I need to grow up, stop making excuses, and build some real discipline, but the friction in my gut feels almost physical.
Did anyone else deal with this kind of paralysis when taking on their first real responsibility? How did you stop overthinking and just accept that life is happening now?

Life is hard, adulting is hard.
Have been thinking about this for a while.
At 38, life gets hard. The burden on these shoulders is immense and there is no escape. While I am not married or have kids, responsibility has found its way to me. Somedays I wonder, when will I get that relief. When will the weight on these shoulders go? Somedays are just tough on mental health.
Do I go and scream at an abyss? Do I go down the road, and not take my foot off the pedal until I see god or see clarity?
What’s the solution to this? How do I get motivated? How do I get back on track?

Labor Day loneliness
Out of all the holidays, I felt lonely today! I've been single for almost 10 years. I'm close to 40 years old with only a handful of friends. I went out for a walk along the lake and saw so many couples, friend groups, and families out bbqing, and just enjoying the last few weeks of summer. I wish I had a core group of friends, I wish I had a boyfriend/husband. I wish I had a larger family.
I am really comfortable doing things alone. Buying a house, traveling the world, etc. But times I wish I had someone to share experiences with.
Just wanted to vent as I'm currently laying out on the beach enjoying the views and this weather.
