Especially now that most productions shoot digitally, it seems that any scene meant to take place in the dark is tinted very blue. I’m wondering why this is understood as looking “dark” when some of the blues used are actually quite light.

So, my boyfriend trained for a bodybuilding competition. He drank so much damn water. He kept saying he was needing to shed water weight… but was drinking water. I’ve heard this theory multiple times now, drink water to lose the water weight. Wtf? I don’t understand.

ELI5. what is the reason studios like WB would shelve completed projects like Batgirl? Ive heard tax reasons but why does shelving a product get you a tax break?

What actually happens inside the banking system when a bank gives someone a loan? Where does that spendable money come from, and what prevents banks from creating unlimited amounts of it?

So I have Those glow in the dark stars on my ceiling, and when I stare at one for a few seconds it disappears. Does anyone know why that happens?

Is this profitable? I get the YouTubers get paid to have their stuff on Tubi. What is Tubi getting out of this? What benefits do this streaming services receive from buying free content and posting this on their platforms

Sphere? Cyl? Axis? What do these actually mean? When googling I find terms such as “more/less lens power” or “align astigmatism” But how does “lens power” turn into the actual physical lens? How do they take these values and apply them to the actual piece of glass?

And how does flipping between 1 and 2 help find these numbers? How do all those flipping lenses in the machine turn into 1 lens for the glasses? I’ve always imagined this as taking the 1s and 2s I picked and compressing them like a sandwich, but that doesn’t sound right anymore.

According to neuroscience, while new neurons can be born in the brain, their numbers are small; generally, memory refers to the forming of new structural arrangements among neurons.

More specifically, why does holding it up to a light 'charge' the glow, and why does the glow fade after being in the dark for a while? (I assume it has something to do with chemistry, hence the flair, but for all I know it's magical little fairies, and it doesn't glow all the time because they have to sleep)

I just had my coffee on my kitchen scale and when I dropped in my spoon, the weight increased, even though the spoon didn't touch the cup at the sides or bottom because I was holding it in the middle, the scale changed 4 grams when I took the spoon up and down without the spoon touching the cup.
