It was in my yard this morning, at first I thought it was a young natrix but when it moved I understood it couldn't be a real snake... first time I see one, I'm glad they live in my home!

Before anybody asks no, I’m not telling anybody where they’re at LOL 😆 and if you know where they’re at 🤐 or else ☠️😜Jkjk but this is a very special species that need ALL the protection it can get!

I recently went to an expo over the weekend and left feeling disgusting. I don’t understand how it’s even legal. The level of neglect I witnessed was insane, and the amount of people actually purchasing was worse. I went to buy stuff for my lizard and chose to not even support anyone. How are people even allowed to sell alligators still? Like I saw an open BIN of baby alligators??? I don’t understand how it’s legal at all. I can’t think of anyone who needs an alligator, I even see them neglected at zoos. I had to leave after seeing the care sheet above, I asked the lady if she seriously needed to put that as a sign and she was like “oh god yeah”. I’m like ?????? I wanted to ask her how shes still selling them then. I have a lot more to say about this maybe for a separate post, but was wondering what the general consensus of expos is here. The next time it comes around I want to go save one of the neglected animals I see, but I also don’t want to support them. Thoughts?

what should i keep in a 40 gallon breeder? Is there anything that’s not a beginner lvl species that can permanently live in a 40 gal i could look into that’s not a sand boa ?(36″ Long x 18″ Wide x 18″ High) Im open to arachnids & amphibians!

Hey! So I'm building a diy terrarium, a wood terrarium with glass.

The measurements are 250x150x100cm (L,H,W) with the glass being (front; 220x120) (sides; 120x80)

There's going to be about 10-15cm sand on one side and dirt on one side. Including being bioactive on hopefully both sides.

It's for a trans pecos rat snake who's about 153 cm so she's strong but not anaconda strong.

Anyways, how thick glass should I have?

So recently I’ve been wanting a panther chameleon, I was looking at them at petco. Since I was already in petco I looked into their chameleon kits thinking I would buy one for said panther chameleon. After research I learned that the chameleon kits from petco is actually really horrible for pet chameleons. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good chameleon kit that’s fairly priced. I ask for a kit bc I need the supplies to be easy to get as in deal with my parents.

He´s supposed to be around 3-4 months old, he´s 23 cm long from head to the tip of the tail. Do they ever get interested in playing with the ball? maybe can i teach them to fetch?

I got a Cuban False Chameleon about a month ago from Petco. I recently upgraded him into a larger 18x18x36 terrarium.

Thoughts on the setup overall and is there anything I am missing? (I know the pothos don’t look great haha)

He lunged at the mouse I was dangling with tongs and grabbed a leaf. I thought he'd let it go. Instead, he started eating it. He whipped his head around when I tried to grab the leaf with the tongs and managed to swallow the whole thing. It was surprisingly fast. Has anyone else had this happen? Was your snake ok?

I was recently given a leopard gecko that wasn't taken care of right. I have other reptiles and researched before receiving her, but there are some questions I have. Immediately when put in her new enclosure, she started glass surfing. Is that due to stress from a new home, or should I change something? I was also told she refuses to eat dubia roaches and was given a mealworm-only diet. Should I slowly introduce new food for her or just try and trick her into eating the roaches? She's been eating only mealworms for 4 years, and I worry about her gut. Overall, she looks malnourished and has some messed-up toes, but I'm confident a new environment with real plants and multiple hides will help her heal! The enclosure she was kept in was a 10-gallon aquarium tank, and her substrate was only sand that was never cleaned. What should I watch for when it comes to impaction?

A few days ago, a yellow-bellied slider breeder and experienced keeper visited me to take a look at the white spots on my turtles.

Our initial thoughts were fungal growth or possibly an issue with the water quality. However, he told me that the white spots are caused by the turtles not having enough dry land/basking area.

I’m a bit unsure about that diagnosis, so I’d really appreciate some second opinions.

Our current setup
Water volume: ~170 L
Water temperature: 22.5–25 °C
Filtration: Tidal 400 + an additional UV filter
Heating: heaters to maintain the water temperature
Basking area: A balcony/platform filled with sand and rocks, aprox 15cm deep sand and 33-35°C
The turtles actively use the basking area and regularly come out of the water to bask.

Diet
Dandelion greens almost daily
Constant access to cuttlebone
High-quality turtle pellets occasionally
Bugs/insects from a specialized supplier from time to time
Dried mini shrimp occasionally

The breeder/keeper recommended completely changing the water/land ratio — essentially having around 80% land and only a small amount of water.

I have quite a few doubts about this recommendation, especially since they already have a basking area that they actively use.
What do you think could be causing the white spots?
Does this sound like a basking/dry-land issue, fungal growth, water quality, shedding, or something else? Sadly here where I live there are no reptile vets and the ones we visites blamed my UVB lamp which I have since been changing every 3 months, mixing 5.0 and 10.0.

I have a day gecko, crested gecko, two bearded dragons, and an eastern box turtle. At this point, it seems like having our own roach colony would be significantly cheaper than buying food. I’ve researched online and watched YouTube videos, but I’m seeking real-world experience, advice, tips, or anything else that might be helpful. I have a few questions:

- How difficult is it to care for them?
- Do they have a bad odor?
- Can I leave them alone for a few days?
- Where can I purchase those small egg flats for them?
- Do you use oats?
- Do you have substrate in your enclosure?

Since I live in Florida, I’m looking for discoid roaches because Dubia roaches are illegal here.

I started with a carved lawyer of foam, they put drylock over it, then used painted with low voc paint and acrylic. I let it air out for almost a month, and it never stopped offgassing. So I did some research and covered it with layers of spar urethane in attempt to trap the gasses inside, since it wasn’t going to clear out.
It didn’t work after 5 coats of spar urethane. Idk what to do. My snake has been in a temp tank for months, and he needs more room. I thought I’d be able to put him in there in June, and it still smells. I’m at a complete loss and I don’t know where to go from here. I really want to avoid starting over since it looks so great and was a shit ton of work. Any advice is appreciated.

I was hiking in Incline Village, Nevada today and I stumbled across what I first thought was a very long, large piece of poop😂 Turned out to be a northern rubber boa!

I’m excited I got to see this guy because apparently these guys are a rare find, due to being crepuscular/nocturnal and primarily living underground!

Highlight of my day : No dramatic soundtrack, no panic, no theatrics , no wildlife documentary crew. Just me, a grabber tool, and one very confused snake.

We didn’t get the whole thing on camera, but mission accomplished. 🐍
I’ve learned not everything deserves a full emotional production. Handle it, move on, enjoy the rest of the day. 😂

Hello all. Recently started setting up a 29gal but accidentally added an extra inch of substrate. Clearance is a bit low for the intended recipient. What are some semi-arboreal, semi-tropical reptiles that might be more suited for an enclosure like this? Or am I still good to go with small arboreals? Also unrelated but some ivory millipedes would probably go pretty good in here.

To restate from earlier, this is NOT the final design, I have yet to get the intended hardscape for additional elevations.
