Atelopus sp. “Arlequín de Limón”

AKA Wampukrum!!!

This one doesn’t have a formally described species but it’s given a locality and a local name. Some literature says Atelopus aff. spumarius but the lab working with just labels as so.

This is also the toad that Colossal Biosciences has invested into for release!!! So cool to grow out at home and watch them work insitu with too!!!

Houses a D. tinc powder blue pair, all plants (except the moss) are native to the Guyana shield so have overlapping range with the frogs for a minor amount of ecological consistency.

Any thoughts/feedback? I definitely need a new water dish, that's on the list.

These are designed and formed around reusable/replaceable feeding cups, just fill with fruitfly media, banana, or even gecko food.

Without the top piece on it keeps all the dusted flys in one spot that is easily accessible for darts or geckos so you can insure they’re getting all of their vitamins. I even use one in my mourning gecko setup where she can go down to eat her gecko diet and the flys are already there feeding on it aswell

Using the mesh cover I designed it gives flys a space to breed and lay while a keeper may be out of town, like leaving a banana in the enclosure but cleaner, allowing the flys to produce larvae in the dish and keep hatching flys while someone is away. ALSO can be used to gut load frogs who have trouble eating, fill the bowl with larvae active media and allow them to eat, or pull the top of for ones that have already produced inside!

I will say these are also great for making frogs more bold, so far ever viv we’ve tested in all the frogs now wait perched for food.

One is a little shy hiding in the back. The one in the foreground is very adventurous and not that I intend to unless I have too seems to want to be held. Every feed he tries to climb on to my hand. His either friendly or greedy for food lol.

Male and female roughly a year old now. Tank has been established for 6 months prior to putting them in.

I’ve always used Great Stuff Pond and Stone but want to try Lugarti for my current build and I’m wondering if anyone knows how this stuff expands compared to Great Stuff? I’ve always had to do a lot of trimming with Great Stuff and am wondering if I should expect the same with Lugarti?

I made the tank myself it’s 16 x 12 x 20 inches and I still have a few things I need to finish like the sliding glass doors and the hole for the auto mister and light needs to be sealed but I was wondering if I could keep poison dart frogs in here and if there’s anything I need to add or subtract to make it better. I have an order of a bunch of plants that’s on it way too

Last night I pulled two reticulata eggs out from a bromeliad with a plastic spoon. One was white and cloudy from the beginning, but the other one was dark grey / black (third picture).

This morning when I went to check on them, they both looked bigger and cloudy (first and second picture)… are they dead?

Weirdly they seem white on top and black on the bottom.

My Reticulata seem to exclusively lay on the wood in their vivarium… which drives me crazy because the eggs never make it. These are the first two eggs I’ve been able to successfully relocate!

Hey guys - looking to redo this old terrarium for a few darts I have. I want it to be amazing for them, so I want it to be very tropical, going to order some bromeliads from frog daddy, and I want to be able to have some plants on the backdrops. I am posting a picture of the terrarium as it stands, and then an ai rendering of what I think would look good. Three main questions -
1. For this project, should I rip out the back wall? Or salvage it, and just have the two side walls have protruding features for climbing (can I add plants to this existing back wall?)
2. I have never had luck with moss expanding. I have been able to keep it alive, but never have had it actually spread. I was looking at the frog daddy moss mix - any luck with that?
3. I would love any feedback or inspiration - I really want to make this perfect for my two tincs.

Looking to get a glass or acrylic top later so don't mind the set up lol

Hello everyone!
Recently I was looking into potentially setting up a vivarium and getting a dart frog and I wanted to ask some questions about it before I actually do it. First I wanted to ask about how long does maintenance take. I am planning on going medical school which will obviously be a heavy time sink so I want to make sure I know how much time I would need to divert from school. From what I have seen online much of the care can be automated making it seem like a relatively low maintenance pet which makes it sound ideal but I wanted to ask people who actually own them to see about how much time you need for one vivarium. I know setting up the vivarium likely will take a long time but I am currently at the start of two gap years so the vivarium would be set up long before my schedule becomes restricted with medical school. I was thinking of getting a dendrobates tinctorius azureus. Would this be a good first dart frog and can they be kept alone or would I need to get two or three? Finally I saw online differing answers if the vivariums increase the humidity in the room so I was curious if you guys have noticed any difference in humidity in your rooms with the vivarium. Thank you in advance for responding to this I know I asked a lot of questions but I want to make sure I know this information in advance. Also if you have any other advice that I didn’t directly ask please let me know!

Hello, in maybe may I got three yellow banded dart frogs. I haven’t really seen them for like 3 weeks. I would see one or two consistently leading up till then.

I feed flightless fruit flys
75 degrees
85-95% humidity
24x24x48 in tank

I’m not sure where they went. The tank is pretty dense with plants and leaf litter so they have a ton of places to hide. I poked around just a little bit and looked under some leaves and didn’t find any.

And advice is appreciated.

Does anyone have a picture of adult Auratus with a hand or preferrably a banana for scale because i saw some tincs today and they were so giant that i am rethinking getting darts now...

Atelopus barbotini the purple toad, taxonomy is likely to change. I’m curious what the genetics and researchers are gonna say & publish!!!

I used museum voucher specimens via researchers and compared macro photos of mines tadpoles mouth parts to the preserved once’s and got a locality match!!! Nassau mountain region Suriname!!! Can’t thank Amadeus enough for the information and willingness to share his resources too!!!

My humidity is really high like 95% all the time.
I have one fan in the top left corner, sucking air out, should i add 1 more in the front to push outside air in with low rpm ?

I’ve spent a lot of time planning and creating this, there are still a few plants to be added and some small hardscape/ledges but I mainly wanted to ask about the thoughts on the sides/walls. You think it looks fine exposed or should I fill it all up?
