Found out how to hold him without upsetting him

My 7 month old veiled and I had him for 2 months now. If I’m holding some greenery he feels safe to hang out on me. Probably feels more camouflaged, so makes sense.
It took a lot of hand feedings but he’s pretty used to me now. Always hated leaving his enclosure until last night and now that I cosplay a tree branch he’s coming out willingly now 🥰

Question Helpppp!

Upvotes

So recently I’ve been wanting a panther chameleon, I was looking at them at petco. Since I was already in petco I looked into their chameleon kits thinking I would buy one for said panther chameleon. After research I learned that the chameleon kits from petco is actually really horrible for pet chameleons. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good chameleon kit that’s fairly priced. I ask for a kit bc I need the supplies to be easy to get as in deal with my parents. Sorry for ignorance I am a beginner, only other reptile in the fam is my brothers gecko, and he got his kit from petco.

Question new chameleon! I have questions :,)

Post image

this is our new girl, Sprite. before anyone says anything, I snapped this photo very briefly while getting her into her new home. I know the basics, as I handling them is not ideal and such. now for my questions!! she has had her eyes closed awhile, but she has opened them to look around, get water, and she has eaten. I just want to know; is this normal? is she going to be okay? her tank is at ideal humidity and temperature, she hasn't shifted into a brown or black coloration at all, but idk. is this slow for new Chams or am I stressing myself out over nothing? today is day 3 of having her :,)

Gaping when basking?

I need help. My buddy is about 7 months old, had him for about 6 days now and for the past 3 days he gapes at his basking branch. The temp is only about 82-85 degrees consistently and i keep his basking light on for a few hours during the day as to not let him overheat with the window there. My fear is a respiratory infection although I’m not seeing many signs except for the gaping. I’m trying to listen to him breathe but poor guys so spooked of me getting my head near his has been a challenge but so far I don’t hear much.

Any of y’all spy on your chams while on vacation? Don’t worry they have someone watching them while I’m gone for a week.

My Chameleon doesn’t like me anymore 😔

Upvotes

I used to be able to handle my chameleon sometimes but now if I am to open her habitat, she hides from me. She hissed at me and gaped at me the other day and she turns darker when I am around she won’t even come to my hands anymore or let me hand-feed her anymore. Is this behavior alarming if so what do I do and how can I fix it?!

Meet trippp the three legged blind rescue chameleon

I started following this group cuz I missed my little buddy and just wanted to share his story and thank you all for taking care of here incredible animals!! I apologize for spelling and grammar in advance.
This is trippp he was blind and missing a leg when I got him he was handed around from keeper to keeper. Angry all the time unless the cat was by his enclosure. It’s the only time I’ve seen a reptile cuddle a cat. He hated all other living things including both of the giants blurry figures that fed him the small blurry wiggly things. And the identical black cat that would try to say hi to him. He was mainly fed in a bowl and hand feeding because his accuracy was poor to say the least ya know cuz of the being blind and what not. He had an auto mister and a fogger going often than usual to help make sure he had enough water. His enclosure was also unique wider than it was tall with a net swystem
To catch my dude who would frequently just forget he was missing a leg. He was rescued from a petco the story I was told was he was stolen from some shitty store in ma when they saw his condition and moved more than a few homes before landing w us.
Dispite all this my man still kicked it with the family for three years we guessed his age to be around 6 or seven when he said good bye. We miss this angry little clumsy blind dude. His his buddy the female care misses him too. Since him I’ve been inspired to adopt abused and injured animals. We got a one eyed cat and two three legged dog since him. and think of him often

i got a chameleon off of facebook marketplace. they gave me a whole setup that ive been modifying. im manually turning the heat lamp on/off right now as it gets well over 85 degrees which seems to be the basking temperature? besides that, replaced the coil uvb with a tube & he has a water dripper and a mister currently on a 12hr cycle. is there anything that needs to be changed? humidity is around 50% right now, planning on misting before lights out.

Question Is it normal for my chameleon to have the cloaca like this?

Post image
Upvotes

My veiled chameleon since yesterday has a semi-open cloaca, with this visible dark mass, what could it be?

Should I worry? He's about 5-6 months old, he's a healthy male, he's never had any other problems before.

The only thing I can report relevant is that 3 days ago he regurgitated some insects that I had given him the same day (about 4-5 flour moths and some Lateral cockroaches)

Panther Chameleon Setup

Upvotes

Hi all. First time chameleon owner here and I’d like some inputs on how my setup is going. My little chameleon is due to hatch mid October and I’m finalizing his/her home. I have more plants to add, but they are in quarantine at the moment to get rid of as much fungus gnats as possible. I also have the mister which isn’t installed yet, but will as soon as I get all the plants situated next week.

Basking light temp is steady at 83F and the branch under the T5 is ranging 3.0. Good lord that light meter was expensive! I also have a Viparspectra LED grow light for the plants. Oh, yes those are sticky traps which will be long gone before I place my cham in there so please don’t beat me up over that.

I’m new to this, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Question Help!! Please.

Upvotes

My female jacksons has been keeping her eyes closed during the day for quite a while and I am out of ideas. Im looking for a vet in yhe pgh area for exotics and believe I have found one but am still looking for anyone with experience. I know Jacksons are tricky but i know her enclosure checks everybox from humidity to uvb to airflow to temp drop at night. She gets vitamin a once a month and all other meals suplemented with arcadia calcium plus pollen. She still has energy and when i spray her daily i also hand feed her and she eats willingly and plenty. She just cant seem to open her eyes. Ive seen her rubbing them on branches before. Ive looked for stuck shed and dont see anything. Its madening. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

New Owner First timer

Hi everyone, first time veiled chameleon owner here! I got my little guys enclosure set up and it looks good to me although I do want to add one more plant on the top right or top center but I’ve heard not to put plants too close to the lamps. I was wondering from any seasoned owners, does it seem like I have enough climbing branches and foliage for him? He’s still really small so I do think as he grows I’ll continue adding more. The plan is also for my boyfriend to build a hybrid enclosure. So he’s been doing a lot of research about that but we thought for cilantro’s first enclosure, this looked good. Any feedback? Just wanna make sure our little guy is comfortable and happy.

I also still need a light for the plants - any recommendations? I’ve done some research but would love to know if theres any specific brand/style anyone has really loved and highly recommends

We will be purchasing a male Panther chameleon baby. Do you guys have advice on the best place/way to buy one? Also, is there a kit you would recommend (includes the appropriate lights, mister, etc). Thank you!

Cosmo The King

Hi my name is Cosmo! My favorite thing to do is sit in the front window and watch the cars go by. I do get scared when dogs walk by because they have magic window teleportation powers that the dogs inside do not posses. I also prefer the cold and dry areas of my cage the most, even though it bothers the tall man that feeds me. I never shy from a meal and I’m always down to crawl out of the cage as soon as the opportunity arises. Silk worms are my favorite but I mostly hunt crickets all day and get the occasional horn worms. I prefer a good 75 degrees at 55% humidity and if it gets turned up to a higher humidity I freak out. Both my heat lamp and my upper pearch have a nice breeze with lots of natural flora that I grow with my poop.
Please let me know how I can improve my lifestyle and what I need to tell the tall man to do.

Also I included my main man Lynx
