Ask r/seychelles Tips for staying in Mahe

Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm going to Seychelles for New Years and I'm debating how many days I should stay in Mahe. I'll have 11 days on a boat visiting the other islands so not looking for recommendations for those.

My options are between 5-10 days. What are your recommendations? And where should I stay?

I'll be traveling solo and I'm a very experienced traveler if that impacts your recommendation.

Appreciate any input, thanks!

Tourism Is Canopy by Hilton Worth it?

Upvotes

Dear Guides,

Can you please help me with a 2 day hotel booking? I am getting a good deal with canopy by hilton resort while selecting my stay at Mahe.
I was originally considering Constance Ephelia, Kempinski & Story. These do look better in the pictures when compared to Canopy, but i was wondering if someone who has been to these places can point out the differences i can't see on the internet. Are they much better than what Canopy offers?

Thank you so much!

Ask r/seychelles Arrived on Mahé 2 days ago and it hasn’t stopped raining, is this normal?

Upvotes

My wife and I landed on Mahé two days ago for our honeymoon, and it has literally been raining nonstop since we got here. Not just occasional showers but constant, heavy rain the entire time.

Is this typical for the season, or did we just get unlucky? We’re starting to wonder if we should cut the trip short and head somewhere else, especially since it’s supposed to be our honeymoon and my wife is already pretty frustrated with the weather.

Ask r/seychelles Seychelles with two young kids (5 & 7) - sailing in October, need your must-dos and general advice

Upvotes

Hi all, we've booked a very last-minute trip to the Seychelles this October with our two little ones (ages 5 and 7) and I'm after some local wisdom!

Here's how it's shaping up:

- A night on Mahé to start while we find our feet after a long flight.

- A week of sailing on a catamaran out of Praslin (19th–27th Oct) - this is the big adventure and the bit I'm most excited about/nervous about with the kids!

- A few final nights back on Mahé before we head first to Dubai then home to the UK.

We don't need hotel recommendations or boat hires as we have sorted it, but I'd love to hear:

- Must-dos with young children: beaches, wildlife, boat stops, anything that'll make their little ones extra excited!

- Great restaurants and cafés (anything from upmarket and luxury places to very simple but great options is welcome)

- General advice for sailing this route with kids this age: snorkelling spots, anchorages, things you wish you'd known etc.

It's our first time sailing in the area, so would be grateful for any advice, tips and recommendations. Thank you!

Ask r/seychelles What island to visit first?

Upvotes

Hi! We’re visiting the Seychelles in april 2027. I’m really struggling to determine what island to visit first.
We ofcourse arrive at Mahé after a long flight (6,5 to dubai and then 4,5 to Mahé). So mahe-praslin-la digue and back. But then you would have a longer travelling day on the return journey with the risk that the ferry is delayed or cancelled.

we arrive very early in the morning on the first day at mahe, at 6:50 so we could also consider making the trip to Praslin or La Digue? And then work our way back.

Maybe the order doesn’t matter that much in the end but I would really appreciate some insights!

Ask r/seychelles 13 days in Seychelles

Upvotes

Going to the Seychelles for 13 days. We were thinking of arriving and going straight to Praslin for 5 days, then spending 3 days in La Digue and finishing with 5 days in Mahé. My birthday is on day 11 of the trip. What island would you recommend spending my birthday on?

Would you recommend this itinerary, or would it be better to start in Mahé, then travel to Praslin and La Digue, and return to Mahé for our flight home? Any feedback on the best order would be appreciated!

Ask r/seychelles Car rental in Praslin and Mahe

Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip to the Seychelles soon and will be spending 6 days on Praslin followed by 6 days on Mahé.
I’m currently overwhelmed with choosing a reliable car rental company. I want to avoid potential scams, hidden fees, or unreliable providers, and I'm looking for trustworthy local recommendations for both islands.
Should I book separate rentals on each island (e.g., one company for Praslin and another for Mahé), or is there a specific agency that operates smoothly on both?

Which companies have you personally used and can recommend for good service and transparent pricing?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Ask r/seychelles Looking for some help choosing a hotel for me and my fiancee on Mahe - Story hotel or Savoy hotel?

Upvotes

Hi all,

I have narrowed down my choices to these two hotels, but am struggling on which one to pick. Story looks like it has a wide variety of offerings, but Savoy looks like it is attached to a much nicer beach (beau vallon).

If anyone has any experience with one or the other or has a recommendation it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Tourism 2 Week Trip Recommendations

Upvotes

Hi Friends, after long and hard thought I am leaning towards going to Seychelles for my honeymoon in May of 2027. Instead of using ChatGPT I figured I would ask some redditors on some must do and sees. Including any islands and for how long. Definitely looking to enjoy some privacy as well as some exploring and adventures as well. Thanks!

What are some unique, artsy, and affordable souvenirs I can take home from Mahé? I’m looking for something a little different from the usual touristy stuff. Any recommendations on where to find them?

Ask r/seychelles Looking for a long-term room/studio in Mahé, Seychelles

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’ll be moving to Mahé, Seychelles, for work, and I’m looking for a place to stay from around October 2026.

What I’m looking for:

  • 📍 Preferably around Victoria / Bel Air / Mont Fleuri / English River
  • 🏠 A private room in a shared apartment/house or a small studio/1-bedroom
  • 💰 Budget: up to USD 1,000/month, preferably including utilities/Wi-Fi
  • 📅 Starting around October 2026
  • 📆 Ideally a long-term rental (6–12 months)

A little about me: I’m a young professional from China and will be working with an NGO for approximately one year. I’m clean, quiet, responsible, and respectful of shared spaces.

If you have a room/apartment available or know someone who is looking for a tenant, please feel free to DM me with the location, monthly rent, photos, and any additional costs.

Thank you! 🙏

Ask r/seychelles Honeymoon Accommodations/Stay

Upvotes

Hi all,

Me(31M) and my Fiancee (30F) want to stay in seychelles for 6 days November 22-27. We are aiming to just stay at the resort or hotel and maybe do an excursion but not to explore the island. What hotel would you recommend that is under $800/night and is more secluded and suitable for honeymooners.
