Tourism Is Canopy by Hilton Worth it?
Dear Guides,
Can you please help me with a 2 day hotel booking? I am getting a good deal with canopy by hilton resort while selecting my stay at Mahe.
I was originally considering Constance Ephelia, Kempinski & Story. These do look better in the pictures when compared to Canopy, but i was wondering if someone who has been to these places can point out the differences i can't see on the internet. Are they much better than what Canopy offers?

Stay at the Hilton Northolme instead. I stayed there and thought I’d go try the other Hilton on Mahe but it doesn’t have the same ambience as the Northolme. Mahe is beautiful though so as long as you have a car you can explore and the beaches are nicer on the Canopy side of the island. Just my preference. Enjoy your trip.

I'll try. Northolme is almost twice the cost of Canopy for me, I'll try it if it's significantly better. Thank you!!

I would hire a car to explore the island each day and not spend too much time at the hotel usually as the real beauty is in exploring the island. Sometimes when I visit I would stop at a small guest house in Bai Lazare called Lazares Picault for a lot less but it’s a beautiful spot with rustic chalets built into the mountain. If it’s a special occasion then you can consider staying at the Northolme for a few nights. Alternatively go there for lunch and go snorkeling at their beach as a minimum in the afternoon. Ask for the James Bond suite if you stay there too.

From my research Story is 2 star charging prices for 5 star. It’s on Beau Vallon which I didn’t rate. If it’s been refurbed since early 2025 then I am out of date.
Constance Ephelia and Kempinski were both solid but we chose Canopy by Hilton. We had interconnecting rooms for us and the kids and stayed half board. We had an amazing time and while the snorkeling off the beach wasn’t great it was shallow and expansive and a daily family activity became lying in the bath warm sea watching the sunset. We also got to see some fish, some rays and a baby hammerhead.
The best snorkelling we found was off Port Launay so if you are dead set against the Canopy option I would plump for Constance. We hired a car to get around and visited lots of the top beaches. beau Vallon just didn’t have anything going on apart from lots of properties bordering onto it. Some were noisy and really I would not thank you for that. But we’re all different.
The negatives for Canopy. Emirates put their crew there so it had odd peaks in occupancy. When we were there last year it was newish so loads of instagrammers were there on the first weekend. But that’s it. Everything else was great. We had an amazing family holiday.

thank you. Me & my wife have really never swam in our lives, so we're really bad at it. I think that would be in our favour considering the shallow depth? Beau Vallon is really being pushed by instagrammers & the AI bots as a great area to be in, but i really doubt it. Your inputs help. Thanks!!

In the sea outside Canopy you can literally walk for hundreds of metres and its thigh/waist deep. If you want to float you can. If you want to take a mask and put your face in the water you can. I’m sure the coral off beau vallon is in poor condition and the visibility in the central area is rubbish due to boat traffic.
I used this guide and resource to plan which beaches I visited as we didn’t have time to do all 39 (or the inclination)

We have 5 days booked for October. Our African booking agency set us up for it. Interested to see how it is. I've read a couple reviews on Google of service shortfalls. But we shall see I guess. I chalked it up as "you only hear the bad stuff."

We stayed at the Canopy for 5 days about a month ago. It is a beautiful property (nice rooms, great pool area) but has a lot of service issues (limited restaurants, breakfast is a mess, issues with erroneous charges on checkout).
If your deal is a LOT better than alternative properties, I would go for it (assuming you are OK with service equivalent to a 3 star hotel). Otherwise, there are many better alternatives (like the 3 you listed).

Story and savoy are 5 star hotels which are actually 3-4 star hotels.
