Primary school teachers have been hired to work in Glasgow's high schools to address the growing number of new starts who are unable to read properly.

There are currently primary qualified teaching staff working in 14 of Glasgow's 30 secondary schools to improve literacy and numeracy standards.

The majority of children who are getting support as part of the project have English as a first language.

Hiya, I just finished the WHW and had lunch in the Bridge of Orchy hotel last Friday (September 4). There was one really handsome and friendly waiter who, as I just noticed, gave me free lunch.

"The purpose of the company would not be to replace existing energy suppliers or directly set household electricity prices. Its purpose would be to help Wales reduce energy costs over time by developing and owning renewable energy assets, supporting local and community ownership, investing in smart local energy systems, helping more organisations use locally generated energy, attracting investment into Welsh energy infrastructure, and reinvesting value for public benefit.

At a local level, this could mean supporting communities, co-operatives, councils and public bodies to own and benefit from renewable generation, storage, flexibility and smart energy assets. It could mean helping homes, businesses and public buildings use energy more intelligently, generating, storing and using power closer to where it is needed. Where regulatory arrangements allow, it could also support new local energy models that link Welsh generation more directly to local demand.

At a larger scale, Wales must also ensure that major clean energy developments create lasting Welsh value. For very large projects, such as offshore wind in the Celtic Sea, the question is not only how much energy is generated, but how Wales secures benefits through supply chains, ports, skills, infrastructure, ownership stakes where appropriate, and long-term economic opportunity."
