Lost Camcorder Dundee

Upvotes

Posting in one last attempt to reunite with our wedding footage. We filmed our day on a cheap camcorder, which was left overnight at the venue (Verdant Works) on Saturday 16 May 2026, and never seen again. We are hoping to somehow reunite with even just the SD card as it is full of precious memories from the day we got married and we’d love to have them back

If you recently bought a second hand camcorder, please check the SD card footage on there incase!! Thank you

Calling all Dundonian troubadours!

Upvotes

Hello, Dundee. For my second-ever Reddit post, I would like to know if there are any locals studying or professionally working in early music who would be down to jam to some dope Binchois or Monteverdi and the like. If so, please let me know! (I am a soprano.)

Mobile Hairdresser in or around Dundee?

Upvotes

Hi I've been housebound for 6 months now due to my health. I'd love to get my hair cut and a colour through it. I am in the Charleston area. Is there any mobile hairdressers that you could recommend. Thanks in advance

Local Fighting Game Weekly in Dundee

Upvotes

Are you interested in playing Super Smash Bros. or any other Fighting Game Community relevant games?

Giant Attack has been the host of many great FGC events and for well over a decade! We host regular meet ups every Monday at The Old Bank Bar on Reform Street from 18:00 - 23:00.
Entry is free, however, we do recommend at least buying a drink just to help support the venue as they have provided us a space for a long time completely free.

Wether you’re a seasoned player, someone who is looking to just dip their toes into a competitive hobby or just for something to do on a Monday evening then you’re welcome!

Ultimately, the goal of this is to reach further out to Smash players as the Smash Ultimate has been lacking in a weekly local for a few months.

If enough interest is there I will be planning to run monthly tournaments for Smash Ultimate.
In addition to this we also welcome all other Smash Bros titles. (Personally I love a bit of Smash 4!)

If Smash Bros isn’t your cup of tea there are plenty of other games to play with tournaments running throughout the month. Here is the schedule for this month:

September 7th: Avatar Legends

September 14th: Groove is in the heart 8 and Guilty Gear Strive

September 21st: King of Fighters 13

28th September: Marvel Tokon

We also have an active Discord for event updates, announcements and even a movie night server! If anyone wants a link to our discord then feel free to leave me a message or a comment below!

Looking for a small, reliable automatic around Dundee/Perth

Upvotes

Hi all, I’m looking for a small automatic that’s reliable and economical for everyday use.
Ideally a Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz or something similar. Petrol or hybrid is fine.
Main things I’m looking for:
Genuine mileage
Good service history
MOT history with no major concerns
Full paperwork
Good overall condition
Preferably a private sale
If anyone is thinking of selling one, or knows of one for sale, please let me know. Happy to travel around Dundee/Perth and nearby areas for the right car.
Thanks!

Lost Wallet near V&A

Upvotes

Edit: I'm adding a £20 reward for the return of the wallet with the cards in it. I've cancelled the bank cards, but my scuba diving license and skydiving license were in there, and they'll be a pain to replace.

Hello, I somehow lost my brown leather wallet somewhere between Tesco Riverside and the V&A this afternoon while I was walking with a friend. If anyone has found it, please call the phone number on the "in case of emergency" card. If you've found an empty leather wallet, please DM me. Thanks!

Divining Test swap

Upvotes

Saw someone else on here do this (don’t know if they got the result they wanted however)

But I have a driving test booked for the 8th of February at 1:45, I have been test ready as per my instructors words for a year now (couldn’t get past the theory to save my life)

Would be immensely grateful if anyone who has a test slot around end of October / start of November would be interested in swapping

EDIT : forgot to say aswell, anyone who wants to swap a Forfar slot for my Dundee slot would also be greatly appreciated

McManus - Pre 2005

Upvotes

Anyone got any photos of inside the McManus before the big refurb?

Got lots of fond memories of the exhibits as they used to be laid out; the Egyptian tomb with all the fabric draped from the ceiling; the wee Neolithic woman in the hut, hunched over the fire; and the room that had the old fashioned bar/shop set up.

Hunted about online but struggling to find any images or footage anywhere.

Thanks in advance :)

Language clubs/exchanges?

Upvotes

Hello! Welcome to my first-ever reddit post. My husband and I recently moved to Dundee, and we are wondering if there are any established and well-attended language practice groups in town. We are both native English speakers, fluent in German (C2), intermediate in Italian (B1–2), and my husband is pretty decent at Mandarin (B2). If there is a group for any one of these languages, or a general language exchange, we'd love to know about it!

Hilltown

Upvotes

I found a very nice flat in hilltown area near Stirling Street, however after reading on here about hilltown I'm not so sure about it. I have previously lived in "rougher" areas that turned out just fine in the end (like niddrie or gorgie in Edinburgh) so I do realise that it really depends on what street you live on, plus things change over the years, so was hoping for someone to share their experience on how hilltown is currently?

Also how safe is leaving your car there? Walking around in the evenings? Etc

Tayside's urology waiting list is nearly twice as long as anywhere else in Scotland

Upvotes

Did something like this about NHS dentists in a couple of other subs recently so thought I'd look at hospital waiting lists this time.

Public Health Scotland publish how many people are on each list and how long they've been on it. I couldn't find anywhere that totals them up by board, so I worked it out.

Urology's the one that stands out here. The median wait in Tayside is 40 weeks. Next worst in the country is Lanarkshire at 22, and Borders manage 5.

There are 1,414 people on that list. 598 have been waiting over a year, 207 over two, and 118 over three. Tayside has 132 people altogether who've waited more than three years for treatment, and 118 of them are waiting for urology.

Rest of it:

Ophthalmology, 3,694 waiting, 687 over a year
Orthopaedics, 3,780 waiting, 679 over a year
Gynaecology, 1,252 waiting, 288 over a year
Oral surgery, median wait 38 weeks, longest in Scotland

13,826 people are waiting for planned treatment across Tayside, 2,656 of them for more than a year.

Worth saying it's June data so a few months behind, and it only counts people who actually got onto a list, so anyone whose referral was knocked back isn't in it anywhere. It's also the wait after you've already seen a consultant, not the wait to see one.

Every board and specialty's here: scotwaits.uk/waiting-times

What's with the increasing amount of nutters in Dundee?

Upvotes

I swear I can't walk through the city centre without seeing 2-3 crazy people either arguing with a wall or trying to fight an invisible man! A few weeks ago I had a verbal altercation with a woman at the bus stops in the Seagate who was trying to pull her trousers down in broad daylight in front of everyone! I told her to pull her trousers up especially as there's kids everywhere and she picked up her bottle of Lambrini like she was gonna lamp me with it!

Everyone's just awkwardly walking by pretending it's not happening where as I feel like in days gone by these people would've been bundled into a van and given the help they need? It is entertaining at times, I'll give them that, but it feels like there's more and more of these crazy people walking around these days.

Struggling to make friends

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’ve lived in Dundee for around a year now and I’m finding it hard to make friends. I’ve downloaded the app ‘meet up’ but it doesn’t seem to be very popular in Dundee.

What are other ways to meet people here? I’ve sort of lost interest in a lot of things as I’ve found it l to just be quite lonely. I’m 22 female. Thank you

Listed Building - local builder /joiner recommendations?

Upvotes

We're considering a few bits of work for a listed building in Dundee having recently moved to the area and wondered if anyone had personal recommendations? On our list we have removing an internal wall, moving a staircase, reinstating a window and reinstating an exterior doorway.

We would be hoping to have an initial discussion to explore feasibility and ball-park cost before submitting the relevant requests (planning and building warrant), but there seem to be no local forms listed on the FMB website and I don't want to take the pot-luck approach of Google. So anyone with a recent recommendation would be hugely appreciated.

Butteries

Upvotes

I'm in withdrawal... I need to taste some butteries, but I'm in Hampshire :(

I usually eat the supermarket ones, without the lard.. but recently found out they were all full of Palm Oil, which I don't particularly want.

Question is - is there any brand of butteries available to order online that are made with actual butter, or at least to a non-lard, non-palm oil recipe?

Looking for some advice about boilers

Upvotes

My combi boiler has packed up, it makes horrible noises and I’ve turned it off and isolated it.

How do you go about replacing them? Is it best to save up the £3-4k you need and buy outright or can you get it on credit?

I also have a broken radiator thermostat in the livingroom can I get that fixed at the same time?

Does anyone have any plumbers they would recommend for this? Should I use one of the big energy companies?

Tia

Sea food restaurants in Dundee?

Upvotes

Hi, are there any good sea food restaurants in Dundee? All the ones I found only serve fish and chips as seafood. I was thinking more oysters, crabs, lobsters?

35+ dating in the City!?

Upvotes

This is probably a niche question but I thought I would ask!

Where are people 35+ meeting people to date in and around Dundee? Like are there any events geared towards this here? Or even apps that are better for Dundee folk than others due to geography and population?

I need to get back out there and don't know where to start 😭 Help a gal out.
