That 3rd image really brings back the memories. That's the location at 99 St. and 70 Ave, where I used to get my King mushroom cheeseburger fix back in the day, when it was a Burger King.

Two articles: the Wikipedia ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burger_Baron

And a CBC documentary from 2021 ... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/burger-baron-documentary-1.6142205

Question Vet suggestion for vaccinations

Upvotes

As the title says, we need Vet suggestion for vaccinations. Our dog is extremely friendly but hates our vet and the vaccinations and becomes extremely anxious and aggressive at the vet. We have tried everything, even drugging him(which didn’t work). Our vet asks us to put him in a headlock to do vaccinations which makes him aggressive towards us.
Is there another veterinarian office that has an apparatus safely that holds the dog in place while they do vaccinations?

Events Tinariwen Cancelled Sept 8

Upvotes

"IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING THE TINARIWEN CANADIAN TOUR Unfortunately, due to a fire at the home of one of their team members, the travel documents of several members of Tinariwen’s crew and touring party were destroyed.

The team has been doing everything possible to maintain the tour, but despite their best efforts, they are unfortunately now obliged to postpone the current Canadian tour.

We are working quickly with the band and their team to reschedule the shows in the short term, and we will announce the new dates as soon as they are confirmed.

All ticket holders will have the option to hold on to their tickets for the rescheduled date or request a refund.

Tinariwen sincerely apologizes to all of their friends and fans across Canada for this unexpected change. They are doing everything they can to return and perform for you as soon as possible."

This sucks and I hope they are able to come another time.

Local history What kept the US Burger King out of Edmonton.

Picture 1: the old Burger King KFC sign, after they acquired the rights to sell the then little-known Kentucky Fried Chicken in 1959.

Picture 2: the traditional Burger King style building, which became Burger Baron after 1995.

I remember this very well;

Getting a bucket of KFC for a Saturday dinner was a big event when I was a kid. When I got older, in my late teens, and went to work, what became my favorite burger was a double king mushroom cheeseburger back in the mid-70s, and it was good eating!

General PLEASE HELP! I need help finding this lady that sells taxidermy moths/butterflies, please i'm so desperate.

Upvotes

My friends birthday is coming up and she loves moths and butterflies, I think she'd really like a taxidermied one. I know of this lady who collaborated with a sanctuary, and whenever a butterfly/moth naturally passed away she would take them and pin them into a picture frame box (at least I think that's how she did it).

How I know of her is because I worked at Remedy Cafe around 2 years ago at the 124th location, she came in with some of her works and asked if she could sell them there and we said yes. Nearly all of her taxidermy pieces were sold. I just recently remembered her, but I can't remember her business name and I don't think the cafe is selling her works anymore. Google has been no help. Please, if anyone knows who I am talking about, please let me know what her business name is I would be eternally grateful. If you know anyone else that does ethical taxidermy moths/butterflies that would be great also! Thank you!!

Question Need recommendations for someone that can review my taxes for an appeal

Upvotes

For context I operate a cleaning business as a sole proprietorship.

Submitted my taxes for 2024 and 2025 this past April. What my tax software said I should owe is ~$808. Didn't have the cash to pay it right away. Was going to pay it shortly.

Then suddenly I get a message in my cra saying that the amount I owe is going to collections. Seemed odd to me. So I went and looked at my account and somehow it says I owe over $2k. I managed to find the lines that are different in what the CRA has changed things to and what I have in my tax software but I can't work out how they got to that figure. And all the NOA says is that the amount was updated due to a "miscalculation". Which is really unhelpful.

I filed the appeal right away as I realized I was coming up to the 90 day deadline but I just want to have someone look over everything so I can send off some proof to the CRA as to why they're wrong.

Suggestions and recommendations for affordable accountants /cpas please that have experience with small businesses. !

Discussion Wtf is going on with Roger's Place rn?

Upvotes

We're at 112st and 108ave and we felt the bass so fucking much we thought it was the apartment next door. This is fucking insane. Weird Al wasn't a piece of shit. Why is this guy?

ETA: apparently me pointing out that Weird Al wasn't a piece of shit and this guy is was going over some people's heads. You can have a concert downtown and not be a piece of shit about it. This guy is being a piece of shit about it. You can, indeed, host a concert downtown without being a piece of shit, as demonstrated by Weird Al. Buddy is not.

General Petition to include Arc card into Google/iphone wallet

Upvotes

I’m just wondering now with the tap-as-you-go feature with credit/debit card, isn’t there an efficient way where instead the arc card can also be integrated into our iPhone/Samsung wallet? It would also be more efficient for students with U-Pass.

Discussion Edmonton cbd : homelessness & drugs

Upvotes

Was in Canada mid 70s, came as a bit surprise to learn Edmonton downtown has serious homelessness & drug addict problems. Alberta winters can be brutal, understand some homeless may prefer to sleep on the street, but as a democracy & wealthy country, does the government just allow people to die on the street ?

Discussion Fitness facilities in the city

Upvotes

Hi

Im not a true gym goer but Im trying to get back into fitness. Is Planet fitness or Fit 4 Less decent gyms for regular workouts? The membership prices seems very fair.

Movati Athletics seems pricey but they got pools and steam rooms.

I used to go to Good Life years ago which wasn't bad, is there other options that I should Know about?

Im North East but dont mind driving to other areas.

I’ve tried the Pay By Phone app and it keeps saying there’s an error. Concord Parking website doesn’t work. Smrtpass wouldn’t accept the zone number. I had to go but will my car be there when I get back later tonight?
