Quinn Hutson days until Oilers’ Season Opener

Post image
Upvotes

Hutson led AHL rookie goal scoring (30) and made the AHL all rookie team in 25/26. A great camp from Hutson might make the roster decision even tougher for Bowman/Babcock.

Loilty+ members

Upvotes

Going to try this question again without mentioning the certain words that got my post removed when I made it just before the end of August.

*Just to state, I'm not looking to get these from anyone in here - just wondering on experiences*

My plan for this season was to go to a game with my Mom, she's not seen a game live since the move from Rexall. We are in fact going to go to the preseason game against Calgary for her birthday, that's already in hand.

Now however, looking ahead, my birthday is in November, and the Ducks game is the day after. I took that week off and I wouldn't have to worry about work the next day, so I now want to go to that game with her too.

With having jumped on the Loilty+ club membership deal during playoffs when it was super cheap, I'm just curious about how they sometimes release games for members at a discounted price.

Does this release happen game day, or a few days before? Does it even happen with every game as it is, or only a select few they are having trouble selling out. Is it a mad scramble when/if they are released so I'd have to babysit my phone day of? And if anyone has taken advantage of this, have they actually gotten really good seats? Since it says you don't get to choose.

Anyone have experience with this? Or am I better off looking at a pair I see for a good price via fansfirst where I actually know what the seats are.

2026-2027 Regular Season Schedule in ics (iCal) format

Post image
Upvotes

I've converted the Oilers 2026/27 schedule to an ICS format for importing into your favourite calendar app/tool. Thanks to u/Pitiful_Banana2524 for the reminder.

You can download it from here. For those who don't know, ICS (iCal) is just a specially formatted text file, which can be opened in any text editor, but more importantly it can be imported into pretty much any modern calendar application.

Each game has a reminder 90 minutes beforehand, my preference -- if you don't want a 90 min reminder you can edit it to some other time or remove all reminders with a decent text editor.

This is based on the ESPN posted schedule since it is one of the few online that makes it easy to convert from html to csv to ics.

A call for updated quality posts

Upvotes

Making this post because a mod (u/levsmash) gave me explicit permission to do so.

At the moment, the sidebars to this Reddit haven’t been updated in a *long* time. In the time since 2015, we’ve had several quality posts in this subreddit. If there are any posts that stand out as being especially quality, please suggest/share them here.

A few guidelines:

-Posts should be actual quality, meaning that they contain some notable amount of effort or inspiration

-Posts should be pertinent to the current state of the team; a post like ”Why Jack Campbell is the answer to the Oilers’ goaltending woes,” even if impeccably written and researched, isn’t going to fly.

-Have fun!

Between Podkolzin & Savoie, who's better Defensively? Who's better Offensively?

Upvotes

Some supplementary info, last Regular Season:

Podz: GP= 82; G= 19; A= 18; P= 37; **+/-**= +16; TOI per GP= 15:23
Matty: GP= 82; G= 18; A= 19; P= 37; **+/-**= +6; TOI per GP= 14:47

Last Playoffs:

Idk where to find their PK & PP minutes....

Thought of this while just thinking about who's our stronger 2-Way Forward between those two young Oilers.

Free to Read: Oilers 2026-27 breakout watch: 7 players who could hit another level this season

Thumbnail nytimes.com
Upvotes

Evan Bouchard, for example, had another offensive breakout by eclipsing his career-best points total by 13. That resulted in his best-ever Norris Trophy voting finish, and nudged him a little closer to the stratosphere of the world’s top defencemen. While not always a seismic shift, established pro players can alter the trajectory of their careers again and again, to the benefit of their teams.

For the Edmonton Oilers, breakouts of all types are needed now more than ever. With the quality of their depth continuing to be a nagging concern, breakout seasons are in order to achieve the ultimate goal of lifting the Stanley Cup. In this case, that extends from the franchise-level cornerstones down to the tweeners fighting for everyday jobs.

In evaluating which Oilers are in position to take a step this season, I’ve spelled out what a breakout would look like for various players and how likely they are to occur. Let’s get to it.

PSA Post Quality and the Report Feature

Upvotes

Fall is in the air, Oilers fans!

With the new season right around the corner, we just wanted to give you all a minor update on the state of the sub and some upcoming changes.

During the offseason, as you may have noticed, there's not as much policing of submissions. With long periods of very little happening with the team, there's less of a need to keep the feed tidy and full of the high quality posts we all expect here, as people are starving for Oilers content of any kind. Posts are still removed if they aren't actually about the Oilers, or represent more serious issues like harassment, bigotry, or trolling.

A great thing to remember and use year round is the report feature. AutoMod does catch some things, but if you see a post or comment that you believe violates a rule - and isn't just something you disagree with - please report it. If multiple members of the sub report something, it gets hidden and sent for manual review, and we find that in >90% of cases, the community judgment is accurate. It's a good system. Just remember that we don't have real-time monitoring here outside of AutoMod; we're a handful of volunteers with actual jobs IRL, so our manual removals/approvals aren't immediate.

During the season, there's a different standard and more posts get removed, with the most common reason being the Low Quality Content rule.

Posts are generally reserved for substantive content that generates discussion, such as team news, in-depth analysis from reliable sources, or official media, not things like one-liners, reactions, or ad hoc opinions. Things that get removed for this reason would suffice as comments in a daily discussion thread and don't warrant their own posts. There are tons of people who are just trying to hijack the main page for attention, or farm engagement with AI slop, so there's usually nothing of value lost handling it this way.

We do have Shitpost Sundays during the season, where anarchy generally reigns. But even then, just like in the offseason, if something is a more serious violation, it will be removed.

All of this is subject to discussion, and whenever we do a poll on a given topic, it's apparent that there is a silent majority who like keeping the sub focused on high quality content. But if a major cultural shift happens here, we're open to changing how to operate the sub. And if you're someone who is passionate about it and willing to put in a little bit of time here and there, maybe you should join the mod team! Contact us via Mod Mail if that's you.

With many thanks and big love to all who contribute to the sub,

The Mods

TL;DR

  1. Standards for post removal change when the season starts.
  2. Understand how the report feature works and use it year-round for both posts and comments.

Who’s just excited for Oilers hockey this winter?

Upvotes

So much discourse, dooming, controversy.

I am just excited to see a rested team take off with a big chip on their shoulders.

Most of all, I’m just excited to see Oilers hockey. I can’t be the only one, hey?

Any fellow fans going to the Next Gen Showcase game in Calgary?

Recently moved to Calgary and wanted to catch the next time the team is down here. Roster isn’t out but it was suggested in an interview with Bowman something along the lines of Howard and Samanski playing, so there’s that to look forward to!
