[Jarrett Payton] Brian's Song told the story of Piccolo and Sayers. Somebody needs to tell the story of 34 and 26. Two men who trusted each other completely. Two men who became brothers. I know my dad was standing there waiting for him the second he got to heaven.

In Need of A Bear’s Team Name
Can we start a thread of the best fantasy/pick’em names theme’d for the bears? Lisan Al-Caleb was the choice last year, and I am in need a new clever pun

Bears highest paid defensive players. This is depressing.
Montez Sweat - $25,088,594, 8.10% cap
Jaylon Johnson - $24,502,380, 7.91% of cap
Grady Jarrett - $18,925,000, 6.11% of cap
Dayo Odeyingbo - $13,500,000, 4.36% of cap
Kyler Gordon - $12,910,000, 4.17% of cap
Overall this is the 3rd most expensive defense in the league. Will likely end up as a bottom 10 defense. Maybe bottom 5.

We need JJ vs JJ epic matchups
For the record, I'm referring to Justin Jefferson vs Jaylon Johnson.
I'm hoping for and really need to see the matchup of the best WR in the NFL getting shut down by our top Bears cornerback.
This brings me back to the old days when Calvin Johnson was the league's unquestioned #1 WR and he continually got stifled by our CB Peanut Tillman.
No offense to the JSNs, Jamar Chase's, Puka Nakua's of the world, but Justin Jefferson has been a force in the NFL for a while now and the only thing that could really slow him down was yet another JJ in JJ McCarthy.
Hopefully Jaylon Johnson has his speed back and can run with him this year because it's time for the epic battles to begin once again.
(Damn, those are good)

[THE ATHLETIC] Bold NFL 2026 season predictions: Chicago Bears
It’s finally here: Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
We asked The Athletic’s NFL writers to think big, have some fun and make one bold prediction for each of the league’s 32 teams.
For the Bears? Dan Wiederer says Colston Loveland will lead all NFL tight ends in receptions, yards and touchdowns.

Lazy holiday deep dive: Bears/Lovie/Poles butterfly effect
Only posting this because I had no idea Ryan Poles was signed by the Bears - as a player - long before becoming the team's GM. Sorry if I'm way behind and it's been posted ad nauseam.
- Ryan Poles signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2008 under head coach Lovie Smith. Later that summer, the Bears released him during final roster cuts.
- He never played a down in the NFL.
- That rejection sent him down a completely different path: back to Boston College as a graduate assistant, then into scouting, then to Kansas City, where he spent 10+ years working his way through the personnel department before ultimately becoming the Bears' general manager.
- In January 2023, Lovie Smith was the head coach of the Houston Texans. In Week 18, the Texans were expected to lose to the Indianapolis Colts to secure the #1 overall pick. Instead, Lovie converts a late 4th-and-20 touchdown and a gutty 2-point conversion to win the game 32-31.
- The Result: Because of that win, Houston dropped to the #2 pick, and the Bears were gifted the #1 overall pick.
- The Full Circle: The man in charge of the Bears who received that #1 pick? None other than General Manager Ryan Poles - the same guy Lovie cut 15 years prior. Poles famously traded that 2023 top pick to Carolina for a haul that included a future 2024 first-round pick, which turned out to be the 2024 #1 overall pick used to draft franchise quarterback Caleb Williams.
- Lovie Smith's refusal to tank literally set up the player he once cut to draft the future face of the franchise.

With one week to go until the first game, which bars in your cities will you be watching the Bears?
For those who are not in Chicagoland for whatever reason, yet want to find a Bears bar to watch with fellow fans, where are you going? I just moved to Charlotte, and while I’ll be at the first game, I want a Bears bar for the rest of the season. 🐻 ⬇️

How are the new rivalry stitched jersyes?
I've seen some of y'all post your stitched rivalry jerseys as they arrive. How do those of you who have purchased them like them so far? Are the nameplates stitched? How has the quality control been? I'm certain myself and many others are on the fence about buying one at their price point, but if they're noticeably better than the regular fantics jerseys, that might be the tipping point!
