I'm on an iPhone 13 Pro Max, currently driving a 2023 Volkswagen ID4. My carplay takes about 3-5 minutes to connect with an Apple charge cable, and also wirelessly.

Does anyone know why it would take this long for Carplay to connect? I have not had this issue with my iPhone in other vehicles, they are almost instantaneous.

I have tried rebooting my phone, clearing open apps, using a different cable, all to no avail.

Please advise. Thanks

Hello everyone, i'm currently facing a problem where when i connect my carplay to my car, the volume for my left speaker is much quieter than the driver side (right side). I installed an aftermarket subwoofer, idk if that effects it but because the volume for the left side is lower than the right the bass from the left side is significantly lower than the right.

Here is where things get interesting. so when i reset the IHU, and use the radio function, the sound is fixed and works like nothing happened. So seeing that it probably was just a fluke, when i try to use the carplay again, the issue will appear again maybe for like after 2-3 songs. But when i switch to radio again, the audio will fix itself. That's why im thinking it probably is the carplay instead of the subwoofer. Then again, it probably might be the IHU and i have to update it.

The issue started to appear when the new IOS update is intalled which is iOS 26.6.1. prior to updating the iOS, this has never happened before. If anyone is facing the issue or might have an idea to what is causing or what can fix this, do help a guy in distress.

Model of iPhone is iPhone Air
Car is 2019 RAV4 Hybrid

Up until a few weeks ago my daughter had no issues connecting her phone to her car via USB. One afternoon she got into her car and her phone no longer connects to CarPlay as shown in the first picture.

Our whole family has iPhone Airs and all other phones connect to the RAV4 with no issues. (Picture 2) So I know it’s not a cable issue.

I’ve rebooted the RAV4 infotainment system and all phones but my daughters connect like a new phone.

I’ve gone through her permissions and CarPlay, Siri, and everything else is the way it should be. We’ve rebooted her phone, and followed all online tips on Apple.

I am at a loss. Does anyone have any other options I can try?

Edit. Tried cleaning the USBC port and hard reboot. No luck on either.

Edit number 2. Bought a car play dongle from Walmart and that connect right away. Still not sure why the cord doesn’t work but that is a problem for another day. Thanks everyone

does anyone have the actual files to update your cars base system with carplay?

i have a 2019 nissan sentra and it does not have carplay installed as it is a base model. however, ive seen people update their cars with uploading the files onto the original hardware via USB.

is there a way i can do this with my nissan, and if so, does anyone have the files to download and install onto the original hardware?

So damn annoying.

Sometimes I’m parked somewhere or a passenger doing something on my phone, and I’ll select “iPhone Speaker” in Control Center, but then I open almost any app and my iPhone immediately starts streaming the audio to my car anyway even though I literally just selected “iPhone Speaker” to keep the audio on my phone.

Is it me, or is wireless CarPlay from iPhone slow and glitchy? It is not as silky smooth as it is on a wired connection.

I understand there is maybe a limited bandwidth issue, but I didn't think it would be so slow and unsmooth when sliding between apps.

It is probably worthwhile for me to add that my car came with a wired capability only, and I am using one of those plug-in dongles for the wireless capability.

Hey everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I need guidance/advice, I will be really grateful.

I am new to Carplay, (Apple Carplay) wireless. My phone is iPhone 14 pro max (Up to date). I have few questions:-
1. Is it normal that it takes a lot of time to connect or does it connect instantly?
2. Everytime I start my car, or before starting, I have to turn off my phone and turn on again when the car engine is on to connect Apple Carplay, sometime it doesn't connect then I switch to BT Music. Is t normal?
3. To update Apple Carplay, do I need to connect to Wifi?
4. Lastly, if there is any alternate app for Apple Carplay, please let me know.

I have a company car with Android Auto, and I’m looking for a wireless rear-view camera to help with reversing/parking.

Since it’s a company car, I can’t make any permanent modifications. Is there a wireless camera that can connect to my phone or Android Auto and show the camera feed while reversing?

Any recommendations?

I have an iPhone 16 pro on iOS 26.6.1 and an aftermarket radio with wired CarPlay. I cannot get my phone to connect to CarPlay on the radio. When plugged in, my phone only charges. My girlfriend has an iPhone 15 on iOS 26.1 and hers will connect just fine. My phone connects to wireless CarPlay in other cars but I have not tried a wired CarPlay connection anywhere else. I even had an old aftermarket radio in the same car that had wired CarPlay but my phone didn’t work with that one either even though an old phone I had would connect to CarPlay just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight? The cable I am using is a USB-A to USB-C Apple cable.

Everything was fine till I decided to try Waze for the first time and it cut out my music. I had a long drive ahead so I pulled over to try to fix it. Turned CarPlay off and on, turned car off and on, and it still won’t play. I thought I’d just use YouTube instead of Spotify and that wasn’t working either, only Siri and map apps will have any audio. Does anyone have ideas what to do?

I'm currently on iOS 26, and my Mercedes A200 has two wide displays built into the console. CarPlay shows up on the left-hand side, and it's usually in a squarish orientation.

On iOS 27, will CarPlay be able to take advantage of the full screen real estate?

I'm trying to find an aftermarket CarPlay screen with matte finish. My wife's Porsche 718 Cayman has the factory fitted one and it is excellent.

I was driving today and all the sudden my CarPlay went black (like the entire screen) and then suddenly came back on and then went black again. Then it started beeping and going black and back on and totally glitching out. Anyone else experience this??

Went from a 2021 Ford F150 Lariat to a 2024 F150 Tremor. They have the same size 12” SYNC 4 infotainment system. The 2021 had 2 stacks available and for some reason the 2024 has 3. I got used to the 2 stacks and I am wondering if there is a way to fully delete the 3rd stack from my 2024 so I can have the same setup as my previous truck.

SOLVED: The stupidest thing. We deleted his profile in the car and created a new one and it connected wirelessly immediately. No idea why that worked! Thanks to everyone for their help.

I have a Nissan X-Trail and a brand new iPhone 17 pro max, my husband has the same phone. My phone connects instantly and his doesn’t at all, is there a setting that he needs to change on his phone?? Why doesn’t this work?? Please help.

Anybody else's carplay from aliexpress starts with the radio screen white noise? I usually wait 7 seconds for carplay to connect but is there a way to remove it?
