Glitchy and slow on wireless

Is it me, or is wireless CarPlay from iPhone slow and glitchy? It is not as silky smooth as it is on a wired connection.

I understand there is maybe a limited bandwidth issue, but I didn't think it would be so slow and unsmooth when sliding between apps.

It is probably worthwhile for me to add that my car came with a wired capability only, and I am using one of those plug-in dongles for the wireless capability.

Your last paragraph answers your issue. No dongle is good, no dongle is quick, no aftermarket version is as good as true wireless CarPlay. Sorry but plug it in or deal with it is the brutal reality.

It’s not the catastrophe you’re over dramatising, I just wanted to confirm if native wireless was smooth or glitchy like the dongle.

In my experience with a few head units that support it natively, wireless is great.

I’m using a good add-on display (CarpodGo) that has wireless connection, and it’s super smooth, zero lag, quick and reliable connection. It can be done, but AFAIK the wireless dongles, you have to buy one of the better ones to make it work properly.

... hence my post. Native wireless absolutely can be very smooth and non-glitchy if you’re using good hardware.

I have one car with native wireless and another with a dongle to get wireless, I see zero difference. Maybe if you have a gigantic screen I guess there might be an issue.

Interesting, no it’s like a 10” CarPlay area, the rest of the display is 11”
