CarPlay Help. Daughters phone no longer connects

Hello I’m hoping I can get some help.
Model of iPhone is iPhone Air
Car is 2019 RAV4 Hybrid

Up until a few weeks ago my daughter had no issues connecting her phone to her car via USB. One afternoon she got into her car and her phone no longer connects to CarPlay as shown in the first picture.

Our whole family has iPhone Airs and all other phones connect to the RAV4 with no issues. (Picture 2) So I know it’s not a cable issue.

I’ve rebooted the RAV4 infotainment system and all phones but my daughters connect like a new phone.

I’ve gone through her permissions and CarPlay, Siri, and everything else is the way it should be. We’ve rebooted her phone, and followed all online tips on Apple.

I am at a loss. Does anyone have any other options I can try?

Thanks!

Edit. Tried cleaning the USBC port and hard reboot. No luck on either.

Edit number 2. Bought a car play dongle from Walmart and that connect right away. Still not sure why the cord doesn’t work but that is a problem for another day. Thanks everyone

What version of iOS?
Does this phone work for CarPlay in another vehicle?

Most current version of iOS. No her phone does not connect to any of our vehicles.

Clean the USBC port. There is likely dust or lint in it causing issues.

If that doesn't work, backup to iCloud or a computer then restore and test.

If it still fails, restore as new and test.

Before you wipe/restore a hard reset is always worth a try. It clears system caches and can unstick plenty of weird issues. Tap vol up, tap vol down, then hold power until the apple symbol appears.

Check for lint in her USB port.

I literally ran into the same issue today with my iPhone Air. I’ll let you know if I figure it out. So far, changing the usb cable, cleaning the usb port both haven’t worked.

Verify wireless settings: For wireless connections, make sure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on in your iPhone Settings.

• Check Siri: CarPlay requires Siri to function. Go to Settings > Siri & Search and ensure "Listen for 'Hey Siri'' or "Press Side Button for Siri" is turned on.

• Allow CarPlay while locked: On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car's name, and turn on Allow CarPlay While Locked.

• Check restrictions: Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is toggled on.

Restart both the phone and the infotainment system

Actually I just got it to work again. Went into privacy / security in the iPhone settings and toggled wired accessories to always allow. Connected as soon as I plugged it in after changing that. Hope it works for you all!

That was one of options I had looked at before posting. It was checked to always allow

iOS 27 will be released in a week. Maybe that fixes it. You can also update to Public Beta as of today and see if iOS 27 is a solution.

Worst case scenario a CarLinkit dongle should solve the issue. Love min and I’ve had it in the last two cars.
