Help iPhone won’t connect to CarPlay
I have an iPhone 16 pro on iOS 26.6.1 and an aftermarket radio with wired CarPlay. I cannot get my phone to connect to CarPlay on the radio. When plugged in, my phone only charges. My girlfriend has an iPhone 15 on iOS 26.1 and hers will connect just fine. My phone connects to wireless CarPlay in other cars but I have not tried a wired CarPlay connection anywhere else. I even had an old aftermarket radio in the same car that had wired CarPlay but my phone didn’t work with that one either even though an old phone I had would connect to CarPlay just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight? The cable I am using is a USB-A to USB-C Apple cable.

I’d also recommend a high quality data cable. I was fighting connection and lag issues, stole the usb-c/usb-a cable from my son’s gaming mouse, real thick, issue resolved.

I went through this same thing and tried everything. I ended up getting a wireless CarPlay adapter from Amazon and that worked immediately. It’s nice not having to worry about plugging in my phone so that has been a nice plus but I’m still incredibly frustrated that my phone won’t connect when plugged in directly 🤷♂️

Firstly you should definitely update to iOS 27 since most all apps have already updated to that. I’ve had huge updates on my Waze app and others cause of it. Then check these settings.
Verify wireless settings: For wireless connections, make sure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on in your iPhone Settings.
Check Siri: CarPlay requires Siri to function. Go to Settings > Siri & Search and ensure "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" or "Press Side Button for Siri" is turned on.
Allow CarPlay while locked: On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car's name, and turn on Allow CarPlay While Locked.
Check restrictions: Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is toggled on.
