Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 3, 2026

Upvotes

Happy Thursday! It's our first Recap of September! And it's surprisingly feeling like September with the weather getting a little brisker! I'll take it! Let's see what's going on in r/help and around Reddit!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • The site was having a moment on Tuesday where things weren't working properly for a bit. The Reddit Status Page was updated to reflect this and RedditStatusBot made posts in r/help, r/bugs, and r/modsupport. Good bot!

  • There is an experiment on the home feed where you will see a "For You" and a "Following" tab. (Hold on! Keep reading! lol) The For You feed has subreddit recommendations. The Following feed is just your subscriptions. When this experiment was run before, it did not remember your selection. But thanks to all of the constructive feedback that was left in these Recaps that was shared with the team in charge, this version remembers your selection! Set it and forget it! Thank you to everyone who took the time to yell at me leave feedback. The team listened! You were heard! Thank you.

  • If you are in the For You/Following experiment, the For You feed will not have a sort option. The Following feed will have Best and New. Some of you have left feedback that you want the Hot feed to return and I have shared that feedback with the team and they are looking into that.

  • You do not have to use the For You feed if you don't want to. Just switch over to the Following feed and be done with it. It's really easy! You just tap once! How great is that?!

  • Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Happy to pass along feedback about any of this.

  • On Tuesday, we made this post to remind users with an .edu email address to change it to a personal email that they will always have access to, since a lot of .edu addresses are locked up as soon as you are no longer with that school.

  • Weekly reminder/warning that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.35.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [iOS] Some users are still losing their place in comment threads after they've closed the app or their phone has shut off. This was in last week's Bug Round Up. The fix is still in the works!

  • [iOS] In dark mode, the text on the Achievements panel may not be visible on profile pages. Fix should be ready to go soon. The workaround is to use light mode instead of dark mode. It should show up there.

  • [Android/iOS] Continuing to investigate login and general authentication issues that some users on the apps have experienced. More updates should be coming soon!

  • [All platforms] The brief outage mentioned above caused some backend errors that included some moderation services, media uploads in chat and posts, and search. But those should have been fixed when the outage was over.

  • [All platforms] Still looking into some issues around subreddit bans that popped up this week.

  • BUG FIX [All platforms] There was a brief thing where choosing a saved response would occasionally cause the removal comment to fail to post. This was caused by a different change that was rolled back, so this should be fixed at this time!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,290 posts. That's up 176 posts from the 1,114 that we had last week.

  • 3,792 comments. That's down 316 comments from the 4,108 we had last week.

  • 909k views. That's down about 300k views from the 1.2m -ish views we had last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - REMEMBER THE HUMAN

Reddit is a great place, populated by humans! Yes, humans! When replying to other users, please remember that there is a human on the other side of that keyboard. You'll get your point across much more effectively if you don't resort to yelling and personal shots. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing! But please try to do so in a respectful way. You may be surprised at how much better your point is received if it's delivered with a little dignity and kindness.

Resolved Home feed recommendations is back on my timeline and I can't find how to shut down them

Upvotes

Hello all,

I disabled feed recommendations from my account settings a long time ago and have not changed anything since.

For the past few days, I've been seeing suggested posts on my feed, again.

I'm wondering if Reddit pushed this change without any consent, especially since the option to disable feed suggestions has now disappeared from my settings.

Am I the only one experiencing this? Could someone help me stop this?
Thanks for your help!

Mobile/App How do I remove or hide the ‘For You’ tab?

Upvotes

On the iOS app this awful ‘For You’ tab has appeared in what I assume is an update, not only do I not want to see it or anything on that tab, if I’m scrolling my feed it will think I’m swiping over to it every other swipe. Extremely annoying.

Previously I’ve specifically gone in to my settings to turn off recommendations in my feed which is still off but this pops up, anyone know where/how to hide it or turn it off in the iOS app? Thanks!

Profile Why won't reddit show my profile picture? Desktop & Android

Upvotes

My account u/KYL4T isn't marked NSFW like people say is the reason others aren't having theirs shown, and I've seen profile pictures on accounts marked NSFW already.

Profile Made a Support ticket last year and still no response

Upvotes

I made a Reddit support ticket over a year ago and made multiple follow up but never even got a response back.

Is this normal, do Reddit even have a support team?

Mobile/App IOS: NSFW Label Still Showing

Post image
Upvotes

My subreddit is still showing as NSFW even though the NSFW label has been turned off from the subreddit settings. Is this a delay on Reddit’s end, or is there another setting I need to update?

Posting [Desktop] Conflicting account status: I can post, but I can't comment

Upvotes

I can create new posts normally, and other users can see and comment on them. I also receive notifications and can change my avatar normally.

However, whenever I try to reply to a comment, Reddit says that the comment cannot be created.

This happens even after waiting several minutes and trying again.

Does anyone know why an account would be able to create posts normally but not comments, or how I can get help with this issue?

Desktop Account locked after email change

Upvotes

Changed my years old account's email with no issues after an account restore, but then was locked for suspicious activity a few hours and asked to reset the password to continue being able to use Reddit. And because I tried to reset my password to the new email, the password reset "to keep using Reddit" isn't being sent to my updated email but to I assume the original years old email that I changed. I don't have access to that email so I'm stuck in limbo. I submitted a request to reddit using the changed email but haven't received any email back. I can't log in with my password anymore after the failed password reset and I am only still logged in from my last session. Is there a way to rectify this or should I consider that account lost?

Profile My main account has been soft locked by personna for over 2 weeks now, and Reddit support hasn't done anything

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

As you can see in the video, for over 11 days now, my main Reddit account has been soft locked by personna, and it's unusable, unless I verify my age.

No other account has this issue.

The age of the account has been reset 4 times, and every time, the same thing popped up.

I don't know what to do.

And support has been ignoring my emails.

Is my account lost?

Desktop What happened to reddit.com/top? on Desktop

Upvotes

For the past two years I've had https://reddit.com/top set to show me top posts from my subscribed subreddits over the past 24 hours. In the last week it started redirecting to https://reddit.com/ instead and I don't see any way to recreate the functionality in the current UI.

https://old.reddit.com/top still works but I prefer the UX of the current experience.

This is really annoying just like how they redirected subreddit.reddit.com to just reddit.com a year ago, they seem to keep removing power user features.

Profile Mark as Mature button won't stay off on my account

Upvotes

Mark as mature (18+)

Label your profile as Not Safe for Work (NSFW) and ensure it's inaccessible to people under 18

I turn this logo off but when I refresh it just stays on again. It's on both desktop and android! I'm not in any 18+ groups and my posts are not anything bad.

Mobile/App Can’t add pictures to comment on iPhone app

Upvotes

I keep being unable to add picture to comment. Whenever I try to add a picture to a comment (for the communities that allow pictures in the comments) I get the message “image can’t be smaller than 4 kilobytes”. But I check the picture size and it is bigger than 4 kilobytes. This keeps happening to different posts in different communities and with different pictures.

Posting Is this normal?

Upvotes

Ive only had reddit for a few months and the first few posts i have gotten like 100+ upvotes but recently the posts ive been making have barely been getting any upvotes at all. I don't really care how much attention my posts are getting but I've been noticing a pattern. Is this normal as your account gets older or do people not care what i post anymore😂 Thanks in advance.
