Help The dumbest thing in the game.
This mf is BY FAR the DUMBEST FUCKING THING in the game. 90% of his attacks are UNDODGABLE and have like 3 km of reach. He fucking STUN LOCKS and two shots you. The parry window is almost fucking non existent half of the time. And just to get the Rakuyo they put 2 of them in a cave. Once the second one comes it’s over, you can’t do anything, they just spam launches and instakill you. And before someone says “skill issue” nah fuck you, this is a dumb enemy with dumb design that is difficult for the sake of it and unfair.

Strategy: give up
•
u/M-M-M_666 Dec 24 '25
Strategy: Just parry (yes, you can parry them)
•
u/ShyBiGuy9 Dec 24 '25
I don't think I've ever tried to parry them, I was too busy running for my life.
•
u/Vyscillia Dec 24 '25
WAT. You can parry both sharks in the well?
•
u/LrdOfTheBlings Dec 24 '25
Shaman bone blade trivializes the ones in the well. As soon as the second one drops down us a shaman bone blade and watch them pulverize each other.
Edit: name of tool
•
u/Vyscillia Dec 24 '25
I always found it super hard to use because it takes so much time for the stab to happen, there's a crazy "casting time" where the character will bring it's arm up then stab.
→ More replies (2)•
u/Horsemeat2170 Jan 02 '26
Parry but don't visceral just slash them with the bone blade while they're stunned
•
u/TheMinusFactor Dec 24 '25 edited Dec 24 '25
What are we meaning by Parry? Just dodging? Or is this some game mechanic that I have completely not utilized?
•
u/Steele777 Steele-777 Dec 24 '25
Shooting your offhand gun at the right moment interrupts (parries) an incoming attack, setting you up for a riposte strike. Not all attacks can be parried and the timing is tight. Practice a bit on weaker enemies to get a feel for it.
•
u/ShyBiGuy9 Dec 24 '25
I spent literally my entire first run using almost nothing but the 2-handed transformed hunter axe. I didn't learn how to parry until my second playthrough.
Spin to win baby!
•
•
u/Steffenwolflikeme Dec 24 '25
Bloodborne was my first soulslike and I basically never parried. I just never really tried so it was kind of out of sight out of mind and never became part of my repertoire until Sekiro forced it. I got so used to playing without using the left hand item that I wasn't even using my shield in Elden Ring or DS3 and only got into using those when I played Demon's Souls. So now that I've gotten used to parrying and using the left handed items... I still don't parry in Bloodborne.
•
u/Vyscillia Dec 24 '25
Bloodborne is the only soulsborne where I parry (except sekiro) because the timing is super easy. The basic gun comes out so fast that it's actually easy to pull off and the rewards are incredible if you have the right runes (it can heal you, gives you bullet, etc...)
I used a dex build so viscerals did tons of damage too. It's win-win.
•
u/niell2 Dec 26 '25
Yeah same. I'll parry a black Knight in dark souls but that's about it. Every semi difficult enemy in bloodborne i attempt to parry a few times because the timing is so forgiving. Oh and Martyr Logarius I dont think I could even do that fight without parries.

That was exactly me until Logarius and the Shadows stopped me dead in my tracks, but this was my initial playthrough. I did some grinding and learned the interrupt and visceral combo. That changed my play style, opened me up to bunch of new weapons and carried me through the rest of my NG. Planning on trying out different weapons for each boss on my NG+.
•
u/TheMinusFactor Dec 24 '25
Thank you so much, I vaguely remember encountering some Messengers talking about this or something, but this gives me something new to practice. Exciting, thank you for the prompt response. *Parry

What does 'strong against bolt(?)' mean?
Looks like the entry doesn't know either.
•
u/UBettUrWaffles Dec 24 '25
They probably didn't know at the time. People would just whack enemies with different damage types and update the wiki with whichever seemed to do the most, but with enemies that are hard to hit and annoying to fight getting good data was rare. I think at this point people have data mined exact defense values for all enemies and logged it in the better bloodborne-wiki.com.
•
u/_cinderr Dec 24 '25
i was fighting the two of these guys down the well . i had killed one, was halfway to defeating the other then he grabbed me ,started eating me but in the last tick of health i had , i got the message “one of your notes was rated fine”. my health fully recovered and i survived, then i killed the son ofa bitch . both down. one of the best gaming moments i’ve had in a long while.

•

Have you tried the shaman blades? They take care of themselves for the rakuyo…
•
u/ShyBiGuy9 Dec 24 '25
Even using the shaman bone blades to get them to fight each other, killing the remaining one that only had half health was still a royal pain.
•
u/EM_225 Dec 24 '25
It gets easier after the 15th time
•
u/ShyBiGuy9 Dec 24 '25
I've played through the game six or seven times, but I've only beaten them once
•
→ More replies (1)•
u/Turbulent_Pin_9392 Dec 24 '25
You could cheese them both if you go to the ledge where the winter lanterns are, poison knife one till the other drops, shaman blades’em, then poison knife them both while fighting. Shouldn’t have to drop down, but this is only theory, I haven’t tried it….i just bucked up and killed them both for it.

Dec 24 '25
The sudden weird rise in difficulty as this mfer comes late in the last 2% of the DLC is baffling. It’s not even enjoyable trying to fight him.
•
•
Dec 24 '25
Fighting one is manageable, once the second starts coming at you in the well, it’s best to just turn off the game right then and there.
•
Dec 24 '25
This fucking cave fight was the closest I got to quitting the game lol. Even Lawrence didn’t have that effect.
I ended up using the bone shaman knife to relatively cheese it because I’m not a masochist freak who was willing to do it the regular way. No chance.
•
Dec 24 '25
I am one of those freaks, and I’d have to hide behind the pillar on the farthest end of the cave to even have a chance of taking both out, and even then it’s not guaranteed. I’d agree that both of them together are harder than Laurence, way too many deaths when they coordinate attacks.
•
Dec 24 '25
You’re way more patient than me lol. I died like 20 times trying to take them down the conventional way, but eventually get tired and decides to shaman knife their ass.
One of them is annoying already but kinda doable, two of them in a constrained area is a nightmare. The sharks legit have some of the most ridiculous hitboxes in any from soft title. I never faced them again in subsequent NG+ playthroughs.
•
Dec 24 '25
You should try NG+, that was one of the few times I felt OP enough to be able to give myself a better fight, I still died a lot but it was closer each time lol
•
Dec 25 '25
I did. Finished it two times and will go for a NG++ soon. I still don’t have the courage to take on these 2 mfers in particular again lol.
•

•
u/Southern_Fisherman71 Dec 24 '25
what's crazy is i did this and eventually killed them, but you have to goad them to the ledge. in doing so they launch themselves towards you and will legit clip almost their entire body length through the ledge! it caught me off guard and i still died the first time. OP is right, the sharks are insane
•
•
u/BeachLongjumping8725 Dec 24 '25 edited Dec 24 '25
They are much easier to deal with when you use the whirligig saw on them. Still sucks because it depends ofc on your build but if you have a lot of strength, just consider using it.
•
•
•
•
•
•
u/No-Race447 Dec 24 '25
It is rough, true, but i do think it’s still doable, i am by no mean a good from softwares player (i tend to overlevel my characters) and i still managed to do it.
Also keep in mind that you managed to get to this point, the dlc is not easy, Ludwig is a monster on his own and you still managed to defeat him, same thing for lady Maria, so dont forget that, you will defeat those sharks.
(You could also use the shaman bone blade when the second one appears, it should really ease the fight)
•
u/BinaryExplosion Dec 24 '25
Orphan, Maria and that bastard you have to fight at the end of the Eileen quest line were all much harder fights than the well sharks IMO, but I can definitely see why people struggle with them. They are very challenging enemies indeed.
•
•
u/Ok_Business_6452 Dec 24 '25 edited Dec 24 '25
Sounds like you’re coping with your loss. We’ve all been there. 🤣
Yes, they are brutal. I did the ol hit and run technique. No choice.
•
u/Ignarian96 Dec 24 '25
I don't care that I beated them, these things are so heinous and annoying they deserve to be cheesed. Sadly there's no way to. Only Shaman knife could help maybe
•
u/Special-Sense4643 Dec 24 '25
Although the shaman blade seemed like the easy way, I decided to kill them the official way and it was scary but worth it 100%
•
u/exileonmainst Dec 24 '25
You can (and should) cheese them. There’s an entrance where you can see them down below from the top of a small cliff. You can stand up there and hit them with weapons that have a long reach and then retreat. You still need to be careful because their BS attacks can clip through the wall and kill you, but if you are patient you can kill them this way with minimal risk.
•
u/ShyBiGuy9 Dec 24 '25
You can cheese the one on the surface with the explosive jars, but that doesn't help any for the two down in the well.
•
•
•
u/Mr_Owl576 Dec 24 '25
listen, if you already know you can parry them, it's automatically becomes a skill issue no matter how hard you try to deny it

ok, then use Bone Shaman Knife on one of them as soon as the 2nd one drops. You can buy it in insight shop.
•
u/dudeacris Dec 24 '25
you forgot to mention the fight takes place in a closet lol.
on my ng+5 dex build (had been made before dlc release) i found another way (use the knife too) - summon a friend over and over and let them do it while you don’t die because you’re up top. the shame was easier to deal with than the actual fight. :)
rukuyo or whatever it’s called paired with blades of mercy is my all time favourite BB build

•
•
u/Malefroy Dec 25 '25
Toughest battle in the whole game by far and it's not even a boss fight.
Not a single enemy, not even Orphan of Kos, took me more than an hour. They put up a fight for days.
•
u/--ULTRA-- Dec 24 '25
UPDATE: After about 30 TRIES (Ludwig took me 6, maria 4) I did it. I used the shaman dagger as you guys told me and it worked, thank you for setting me free. I Will never do this again. The fact that you need to abuse a niche specific mechanic of an item in order to just HAVE A CHANCE of beating them makes all of this even more fucking dumb. Absolute disgrace.
•
→ More replies (5)•
u/Vyscillia Dec 24 '25
It's like they saw the shaman bone blade and thought "there is nothing in this game that forces you to use this item, what can we do to force players to use it? Easy, put two sharks in a well that'll do it, they'll figure out that they need to use that item they never used before"
•
u/eques_Shorty Dec 24 '25
This MF beats, in most hated And MF enemy award, Winter Lanterna easily. My No. 1 spot of MF goes to Laurence
•
u/thunderpantaloons Dec 24 '25
I absolutely love these guys because they scare me again. Nothing else in the game besides the Winter Lanterns will make me run away scared, but yeah these guys can get me running!
•
u/1AverageGamer Dec 24 '25
I hate these character cause they are so strong, random as shit attacks and health to the moon. Like you take out freaking Maria and then see the shark and you try to beat it and you get 1 shotted or something. Same with other souls likes.
•
u/GlassRiflesCo Dec 24 '25

No joke I died more times to the double shark fight than I did to Orphan first time I played the dlc. Not by a lot, but still.
•
u/gen-xtagcy Dec 24 '25
You are just frustrated. Every souls has end game baddies that are in their own way harder than bosses. Those stupid lion head men prior to stupid Rahdan are way worse than the sharks.
•
Dec 24 '25
love how people still discover bb. yeah man this is one of the hardest enemies in game.
try and use geography to cheese him. hiding in a cabin until he deaggros and back stabing him.
•
u/MomentLower8359 Dec 24 '25
If I may be honest, I adore these enemies (leaving aside the fact that I died 209 times at their hands), but I find them sympathetic (that's not true).
•
u/Vreas Dec 24 '25
Yeah they’re annoying.
I found using the moonlight blades ranged attack and keeping distance trivialized them. Kinda feels cheesy but that’s how it goes sometimes.
•
u/CrabofAsclepius Dec 24 '25
I swear these were supposed to be a boss but we're just plopped out onto the field due to time constraints
•
u/KnoxyMcKnox Dec 25 '25
I struggled with these guys until i realized the charging attack they do can be parried and i got kind of good at hitting that parry so i just kept baiting the charge, parry, visceral, repeat I ended up killing the first shark before the second one dropped down
•
u/EvilDrFuManchu29 Dec 25 '25
Stand on the ledge after the winter lanterns
Use the monocle to aim at the standing one. Hit him with a throwing knife.
He will come over. Carefully hit him with your longest weapon. You still need to dodge and be careful because he (they) can one hit you.
Hit him. Step back. Repeat.
The second one drops. Keep doing the same thing
It takes about 10-15 minutes but the careful cheese works well
Because. F them.

•
•
•
u/Wing_Ding_Gasbag66 Dec 24 '25
the enemy itself is difficult, but not really bullshit with proper spacing and patience, but the fight in the well is kind of artificial difficulty, and isn't a skill issue.
•
u/Awesauce1 Dec 24 '25
Saw many people say use shaman bone blades. Don’t. Not only do you have to get super up close to these fuckers, but the bone blade also doesn’t last long. And that’s not even mentioning actually throwing it at the sharks. I used this method and it worked like an absolute charm. It’s safe, simple, and incredibly easy. I used the beasthunter saif instead. Just don’t get too cocky with your attacks.
•
u/Ludoki Dec 24 '25
On any build other than arcane, they're a nightmare, yes. But if you got a fire converted weapon and good arcane, you can melt these guys like popsicles before they can even attack.
•
•
•
u/zDavzBR Dec 24 '25
Only killed then once and haven't played for many years, yet I still remember the pain
•
u/Landememe Dec 24 '25
I always cheese the fight for rakuyo with Shaman Bone, and always give me a panic atack when i miss the hit with
•
•
u/6thSenseOfHumor Dec 24 '25
I had my easiest experience with them this time around by ranging the individual giants with Executioner's gloves, and taking that shaman bone blade advice against the double giants. One stunlocked the other so I only had to hit both two more times for the kill. Was refreshing to see them get a taste of their own bullshit.
Knowing they're able to be parried helps, but they're definitely 2nd behind most punishing parry to miss, behind the Winter Lanterns and the basically guaranteed Frenzy damage if it grabs you. I still find the giants to be the most frustrating and would encourage anyone to abuse poison throwing knives if you struggle against these.
•
u/LSK_71 Dec 24 '25
No but seriously. I gave up trying to kill them all going thru the area. I’d rather fight Orphan of Kos again than that.
•
•
u/SailApprehensive2632 Dec 24 '25
I remember platinum run of the PS5 and I was dreading this part but with an uncanny burial blade I first timed them & got the Rakuyo. Shaman bones will help you a lot.
•
u/Vahrgrim Dec 24 '25
I've always imposed the handicap of no ranged weapons in my playthroughs. Just a personal preference of mine. Fighting these guys straight up is a pain, honestly.
•
•
•
u/Antigonus96 Dec 24 '25
It does suck, but I was eventually able to parry and kill the two in the well to get the Rakuyo for the Platinum. I found trial and error parry and visceral with a beast rune was more effective than any ‘cheese’ strategy.
•
u/dolgion1 Dec 24 '25
I 100% the game and expansion but yeah these dudes are probably the most bullshit difficult fights to do
•
•
u/yoerii Dec 24 '25
For some reason i didnt struggle that much ones i got the viseral timing right they are pretty easy only the dubbel is a struggle but with the trowing knifes that agrow them to eachother its a lot easier
•
u/tigereye91 Dec 24 '25
Just killed these dudes last night, too. Was a heck of a time, took a bunch of tries. I used the lantern at the beginning of the fishing village to make the run back easier without having to worry about the winter lanterns. You just have to sprint past the dude throwing out purple skulls at you and go straight down the ladder.
•
u/Slavicadonis Dec 24 '25
For the ones in the cave, you can r2 them with the greatsword Ludwig’s holy blade from the ledge
•

•
u/Foresight2187 Dec 24 '25
The ones in the cave are easy to cheese with poison and bow blade if you wait until you access the lift. Or you can shaman bone blade one and watch a kaiju fight.
Either way skill issue and a hunter has tools use them instead of running in head first.

•
•
u/Vyscillia Dec 24 '25
Oh yeah, I remember getting the rakuyo by beating them long distance. The only clean fight I had against the shark is when it's alone outside.
•
u/Adventurous-Carrot23 Dec 24 '25
The strat is to hit and run. Like 2 guys run till half health then when the second comes use that green blade that makes enemies attack each other and keep hitting and running.
•
u/Espadeiro Dec 24 '25
"oh thats so unfair" bruh nothing in this game is fair, do a way and kill this mfks, and after stand proud of what you done

•
Dec 24 '25
Parry the first one, when it runs off for help hit it with shamans bones blades. The parry time is pretty easy with a little practice.
•
u/Small-Interview-2800 Dec 24 '25
The stupidest part of this is the fact that the second one is literally invincible/untouchable until you get the first one’s health to half, cause I tried from the Orphan elevator, the gun gem edge, with Simon’s bowblade, none of the shots landed on the mf
•
u/brentdclouse Dec 24 '25

•
u/AmazonGB-74 Dec 24 '25
You can cheese them to get Rakuyo. Just go to the ledge above them, use a knife to knock the second one down and they can hit you. Beast Cutter is your best bet.

•
u/Clockwork200 Dec 24 '25
If you manage to fight the first guy in the Rakuyo well long enough, you can bring a Bone Shaman Knife to turn them against each other and make that fight a LOT easier.
