Fan Art [Megathread] Share Your Ink Here! Bloodborne Tattoos, Vol 1

Upvotes

Greetings, good hunters.

I'll keep it short: we will gradually be refining/clarifying/updating some of the rules here on r/Bloodborne. This is to hopefully provide a clearer/better experience for users. Most changes should just be small tweaks that won't really impact the general user's experience too much, though some (like this megathread) may be bigger.

If you have any comments or concerns, please send us a Modmail.

Circling back to this megathread/bigger changes, tattoos may now be posted! To prevent a flood of posts though, please limit your tattoos to this megathread.

So without further ado, you are welcome to share your Bloodborne related tattoos below!

Father G's coat and the Cainhurst helmet are perfection. I'm using the rapier this playthough and picked up the loch shield for looks. I've never been happier.

Side note, if you go with the church pick or scythe and pick up the bowblade too, this fashion combo looks just like Ansbach from Elden Ring!

Discussion What exactly is Paleblood?

Upvotes

The most common answer, and the one I subscribed the longest to, was that Paleblood was just a synonym for the Moon Presence itself. However, one issue that no one seems to acknowledge is that our Hunter is canonically looking for Paleblood, not simple blood ministration from Yharnam.

I also stumbled across Miyazaki’s old interview where he said: “ I think there are two different ways you could interpret ‘paleblood’ here. One is the color of the sky after you defeat the Vacuous Spider and the Mensis secret ritual is revealed. The sky there is a very pale blue, like a body drained of blood. I think there's also a message placed in Yahar'gul, Unseen Village that calls back to that. This is before the ritual is revealed, so when you're kidnapped and go to Yahar'gul, you don't know what it could mean yet. Then, after the ritual, you could look at it again and it'll dawn on you… That was my intention, anyway, but I have to admit, that's probably a bit tough to pick up on (laughs). But either way, this leads to the interpretation that ‘seek paleblood’ refers to uncovering that ritual and putting a stop to it.” Which implies that Paleblood might be a term meant for the cosmos above, which is not exclusive to Moon Presence.

Assuming we take Paleblood as literally as possible, then the Quicksilver bullets we use are not only pale in color, but directly from our blood itself. There’s also the Kin Great Ones, Like Ebrietas, whose blood is pale in color when compared to Moon Presence or Amygdala. Not saying that either of these are the answer, but things I realized when I decided to do a deep dive into this. The fact our outsider Hunter knew about this in the first place makes me think it’s not something tied to Eldritch Truth, as I feel the Church would’ve kept a special lock and key on that.

Thanks in advance for answering!

Help Out of these, which one is the most interesting or different to standard gameplay? Logarius' Wheel, Kirkhammer, Beast Claw, Ludwig's Holy Blade, Hunter Axe, Stake Driver

Upvotes

Very specific because I want to do a whole playthrough as a board game character. I haven't played with any weapon besides Blade of Mercy and Threaded Cane. The power doesn't matter! Which one is the most engaging?

Discussion Least favorite enemy in the game?

Upvotes

For me it is the nightmare apostles in chalice dungeons spawned by the chime maidens. SPECIFICALLY that variant. Brainsuckers are second but not even close to how much I hate a swarm of nightmare apostles. Even one of them is the worst thing ever. They have absurd range on their moves, are crazy fast and have like no start up animation. Also I play the game at low level so they one shot or two shot me all the time. I'll try to run from them and they will find some way to lunge and hit me from across the room. The only enemy I can't seem to consistently run from successfully.

I think I am making this post just to vent about how much I hate these little fuckers, down to the very noises they make.

So what is your most hated enemy?

PVP Bloodborne PvP in 2026

Hi all, is Bloodborne PvP active and worth trying in the big '26? If so, what is the "meta level" and are there any other tips I should keep in mind regarding this game?

Lore New explanation for the Yahar’Gul corpse creatures

Post image
Upvotes

Just an interesting theory i have on the cramped caskets (see image above from IGN https://www.ign.com/wikis/bloodborne/Cramped_Caskets) and the humanoid scourge beasts found in Yahar’Gul post blood moon. Spoilers obviously. From a quick Google search and AI, I don’t believe anyone else has mentioned this.

So if you visit Yahar’Gul before the blood moon, out on the main avenue just outside the chapel, there are giant pigs walking about. Now I always thought that was an extremely strange feature, because why would you have giant pigs walking on a normal street? Heck, why would you even have pigs that large?

However after the blood moon, all the spots where the pigs were have now been replaced by corpse/cramped caskets. The caskets share some similarities to the pigs, both in size, and in how their attacks involve swinging around and flinging its giant body.

My theory is that the pigs were always supposed to be caskets. Rom had an illusion in place that was hiding their true form, making the horrific caskets appear as only a large pig. When we kill Rom and the illusion falls and the blood moon rises, we can see its true form as cramped caskets.

This also makes sense with some of the scourge beasts that are throughout Yahar’Gul. On several of the upper levels, you can encounter some werewolf-like creatures, however, instead of being covered in fur, they appear to be an amalgamation of dead bodies. That is keeping with the theme that if we had seen these creatures before the moon, they would’ve appeared as normal werewolves, but post moon we see the truth. AFAIK you can’t access these areas before the blood moon to see if these areas have a regular beast before the blood moon, but I could be wrong.

The only fault in my theory is that I would have expected additional areas than just Yahar’Gul to have revealed beasts, but AFAIK we only have corpse creatures in Yahar’Gul. That doesn’t disprove my theory, only yields no further merit to it.

(EDIT) after reading the comments, there are a few things that cannot easily be reconciled with my theory

- why are beast and pig transformations not applied universally? For example, why is the pig in the forbidden woods not transformed after the blood moon? One could only argue that the ones in the woods are real pigs.

- pigs and cramped caskets have different abilities, I.e. projectiles. The only way to reconcile that is for Rom’s illusion to be placing some kind of limitation on them.

- why are there more corpse caskets post blood moon than “untransformed” enemies pre blood moon? This actually could have a loose explanation, since the Mensis ritual was actively in progress, there are simply additional corpse creatures generated in that timeframe

Help how is father gascoigne still alive after defeating him?

Upvotes

i'm now at the cathedral ward part of the game and started doing all the quests i haven't yet done in yharnam. upon returning to the tomb of oedon for the red brooch i haven't noticed father gascoigne (as i thought he was dead) he attacked me from the back, eileen joined in but he was still attacking me and i died 😭 lol.

when i returned there he was finishing her and she died right in front of me. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE HE WAS STILL ALIVE WHY WOULD HE ATTACK HER

now that i think about it i wasn't able to buy his outfit from the messangers at any point

i really hoped to do the eileen's quest but i don't think it is now possible

this whole thing made me really sad it's my first run and i have 28h spent on this save i don't want to do it all over again 😭🙏🙏

did anyone else have this happen to them? should i just keep going nonetheless? will be grateful for any opinion or advice

Help I did what I had to, still couldn’t fight Moon Presence

Upvotes

This morning I was super excited that I would finally get the platinum trophy, instead I’m back to square one :(

I ate all three umbilical cords, I refused Gherman’s offer and I defeated him after a couple of tries

Still, I couldn’t manage to trigger the fight. So now I’m back again in Iosefka’s clinic just trying to process the fact that I have to do it all again

Is there something else that I needed to do? Maybe the timing with which I ate the cords?? Maybe I need to kill Gherman on the first try? Any help is greatly appreciated

Discussion NPC enemies

Upvotes

I don't know if I'm alone with this opinion, but out of all the enemies in any of the fromsoft games, I loathe most the npc enemies. I don't find them enjoyable at all and I would love Bloodborne if not for the sheer amount of annoying npc enemies all over everywhere.

The most annoying one by far is the whoever in the grand cathedral linked to Eileen's questline. I'm almost lvl 100 and this sucker two shots me dead with his endless supply of bullets. I'd fight pre-nerf consort Radahn or Commander Gaius any day of the week over this pipsqueak 🫩

Maybe it's a skill issue, at this point I don't even care. If I play through this game a second time I'm just gonna skip all these npc enemies. It's just not worth it.

Fluff Finally managed to beat Ludwig much earlier on for the first time.

Doing a Strength/Arcane run right now and I managed to beat Ludwig much more earlier on for the Holy Moonlight Sword, which was the weapon I wanted to use as my main weapon for this run.

For anyone curious, my early game consisted of a +6 fire saw cleaver and Tonitrus alongside a +3 Flamesprayer and Augur of Ebrietas. You can get 2 radial fire gems by killing Pthumeru Chalice Watchdog twice, and 1 waning fire as a pickup near the brainsucker below Abandoned Old Workshop, whereas for my Tonitrus it was 2 physical gems and one waning bolt from Nightmare Frontier Silverbeast.

Also one question, is it better to farm for Nourishing gems instead of Arcane due to more bosses resisting Arcane? And which offline dungeon has a better chance of dropping nourishing gems?

(Not the most impressive thing in the world but I'm somewhat proud of it at least)

Question Hello people how are you? Thank you for welcoming me in your community. I really do appreciate it.

I have a question. Should I go into blood-borne and the dark souls games blind without looking at a walk-through without looking at any YouTube walk-throughs at all? Should I go into those games blind because I’m quite new to this series also thank you and have a wonderful day.

Anyone know what that is? It's near the lighthouse hut, but there doesn't seem to be any way of getting in that room. Just a random hole in a wall or can you drop there from the roof or something?

Discussion I used this cheese for defeating Shadow of Yharnam

Thumbnail
youtube.com
Upvotes

I tried defeating those three probably about 10 times at the middle of the night. Hardest part was when they transform. Then came across this cheese of Traversing nightmare from the left hand side with just about space. Worked like a charm. Now I feel a mix of shame and joy.

Tried multiple strategies like firepaper, beast pellet, Hunter bell, attack-run-dodge on the ninja guy then getting to other shadows etc. One thing I couldn't do is try with two Hunter bells. I might have had a good chance to defeat with 3v3 combat. Apparently that only opens up when you kill Henryk the hunter in Eileen quest. I missed that train when I entered Forbidden woods

Anyone had similar experience
