I mean it also helps that he was tried in Texas where they don’t believe in mental health exceptions. She’s being tried in Massachusetts, which has a very different political climate.

Also, in Texas, the burden of proof for insanity is on the defense. In Massachusetts, burden of proof is on the prosecution. His defense had to prove he was insane when committing the crime while her defense just had to poke holes in the prosecution’s case.

And I'm curious who his lawyer was, she has the best in the business. Sick and tired of this BS comparing men to women and trying to make it about gender to add to misogyny. This is about different laws, different states, and better lawyers. And it's a tragedy if a mentally ill father kills his kids and gets the death sentence, what, you want her to get it, too? I hate this timeline so much. ETA: thanks for the award! Also, apparently this particular dad referenced is a piece of garbage-- thought still stands.

Yes, she should receive a death sentence for chasing down and strangling her three children.

u/Prestigious-Ad1346 11h ago

But it wasn’t premeditated. She shouldn’t be. And the death penalty isn’t legal in MA. I feel horrible for Lindsey and all her children. She was suffering.

Don't matter.

u/Prestigious-Ad1346 7h ago

It very much does matter. She should be in an asylum.

u/WormsDelicious286 1h ago

Was she suffering more than the kids she strangled?  You should be on a list at CPS.

Yikes…be prepared. I don’t think you’re going to find much support on here for that perspective. You might have to delete your comment. 😬

But it wasn’t premeditated

She googled how long the drive would be that she would then send her husband on before she did it to ensure she had enough time lol. Those google searches alone might not be enough to legally concretely say it was premeditated, but she was obviously thinking about doing it, made a plan to do it then did it.

There was at the very least some premeditation on it.

CVS was three minutes away btw

u/Prestigious-Ad1346 7h ago

People in psychosis can make plans.

u/WearyContribution188 7h ago

It was premeditated . She deserves no pity. Only the children deserve sympathy.

u/Prestigious-Ad1346 7h ago

I 100% disagree with you and hope
You never have children because I would rather spend the rest of my life alone than have someone like you in my life as a partner or a parent.

She strangeld her small, defenceless children to death. It was obviously premeditated & she was never diagnosed with PPP until after the event. As a child abuse survivor i think my perspective is more valid than a bunch of spoiled Karens & wine mums.

The problem with this is that the coin is always one sided. The vast majority of the time where you see a discrepancy in sentencing it's always the man receiving the harsher sentence.

Look at any case where you have codefendants that are male and female, the man is almost always given a longer sentence and the women is always portrayed as somehow not being as responsible for her actions.

u/Electronic-Smile-457 11h ago

You say always one-sided and look at the cases-- can you give me your statistics, please? Looking at a quick search, women's murder of children is postpartum mental issues and men's is w/ previous domestic violence. So, what's your point? Just that you're mad that men and women are different in why they murder? If you mean beyond this topic, men are much more likely to commit murder, so again, what's your point? Other than, some weird need to say women get it better?

u/HopeSpecific8841 8h ago

His point was that men recieve harsher sentences for the same crimes.

Even crimes where the motive behind the crime was the same or with similar criminal history.

This is indisputable fact. You don't need to deep dive research and hunt down some esoteric study because it's forbidden knowledge. Just try typing "gender sentencing disparity" into google there are endless studies on this topic and they all come to the same conclusion that men do indeed get harsher sentences on average.

Simply put yes, women actually do just get it better in this case.

u/deazy2099 11h ago

You seem very triggered. Relax, I'm not attacking you. You alluded to the gender war. What I am saying is that justice is supposed to be blind. Men are always perceived to be in control of their actions while women are presented as victims of circumstance.

I'm a simple minded conservative, so it's black and white for me. I believe that anyone that is broken enough to kill a child should be put down. That is in societies best interest.

u/Electronic-Smile-457 10h ago

Well, a lack of looking at science and research does trigger me, you're right.

u/HopeSpecific8841 8h ago

Try looking at some then, you might be less triggered.

What about that guy in North Carolina that killed the girl on the train? Hadn’t he been to jail for violent acts in the past and released already or was that just internet urban legend?

u/HopeSpecific8841 8h ago

what, you want her to get it, too?

yes tbh, clearly lying about the psychosis and voices telling her to do it, basically all experts agree that are not on the defences team that what she's being saying dosen't really add up, seems premeditated due to the googling how long she could reasonably send her husband away for whilst she did the act, constantly lied to doctors and mental health experts and rejected offered help/resources hopped between doctors to switch up medications which she refuses to take as perscribed.

Just seems like an asshole with mental health issues who dosen't respond well to authority or being told what to do by proffessionals. I think this is exactly the type of person the death penalty should be used on if they do all this then proceed to murder 3 children.

All the "experts" selected by the prosecutor for favorable testimony gave testimony favorable to the prosecutor? No way! It's almost like prosecutors select their "experts" for that. Which is why the defense poked holes in their testimony like clearly ignoring evidence of manic episodes.

I hate this timeline so much.

This statement, type of thinking, only makes you sound tremendously uneducated. Pick up a history book and get over yourself.

u/Electronic-Smile-457 9h ago

Um, it was a joke. I have a MA in U.S. history, so there's that. It's Reddit, not a dissertation.

u/Opposite_Tangelo_118 8h ago

Calling it a joke is just a lie in attempt to be dismissive because you are unable to properly explain yourself. You definitely don't have "a MA in U.S. history". Finally, it's nonsensical to conflate dissertations with ignorant thinking.
