Also, in Texas, the burden of proof for insanity is on the defense. In Massachusetts, burden of proof is on the prosecution. His defense had to prove he was insane when committing the crime while her defense just had to poke holes in the prosecution’s case.

And I'm curious who his lawyer was, she has the best in the business. Sick and tired of this BS comparing men to women and trying to make it about gender to add to misogyny. This is about different laws, different states, and better lawyers. And it's a tragedy if a mentally ill father kills his kids and gets the death sentence, what, you want her to get it, too? I hate this timeline so much. ETA: thanks for the award! Also, apparently this particular dad referenced is a piece of garbage-- thought still stands.

Yes, she should receive a death sentence for chasing down and strangling her three children.

But it wasn’t premeditated. She shouldn’t be. And the death penalty isn’t legal in MA. I feel horrible for Lindsey and all her children. She was suffering.

Don't matter.

It very much does matter. She should be in an asylum.

Yikes…be prepared. I don’t think you’re going to find much support on here for that perspective. You might have to delete your comment. 😬

But it wasn’t premeditated

She googled how long the drive would be that she would then send her husband on before she did it to ensure she had enough time lol. Those google searches alone might not be enough to legally concretely say it was premeditated, but she was obviously thinking about doing it, made a plan to do it then did it.

There was at the very least some premeditation on it.

People in psychosis can make plans.

I think she belongs in an asylum. An institution for those who are not mentally well. Her life is basically over at this point. Once she heals mentally, she will be fully conscious of everything she had done and feel so tremendously horrified. She shouldn’t have to suffer in a prison where she will once again not receive the healthcare she needs. She needs to be in an asylum.

I understand this is a horrifying case. It’s not as cut and dry as Andrea Yates. That case was so clearly, so 100% PPP and nearly 100% poor Andrea’s husband’s fault who continuously assaulted her and got her pregnant to have more kids against the doctor’s orders. But just because it isn’t cut and dry like Andrea’s story doesn’t mean it isn’t also PPP.

Doctors misdiagnose people all the time. PPP doesn’t appear the same way in everybody. It’s horrible. What happened was horrible, but thank goodness we have a mostly impartial jury.

That one juror who refuses to accept reasonable doubt was mostly definitely, I can 100% believe, looking things up outside of the jury room. He formed an opinion before the trial began. That’s illegal. You should only be on a jury if you’re able to be impartial and use only the evidence given to you. The evidence proves reasonable doubt of a premeditated, psychotic murder.

Was she suffering more than the kids she strangled?  You should be on a list at CPS.

u/Prestigious-Ad1346 3h ago

I be clear I think she should be put somewhere for a very long time. But not behind bars. She belongs in an institution because she is clearly not mentally present.

She should be able to get all the mental health help she needs in prison, which guarantees she will be there for a very long time, and not let free when she makes a wonderful recovery in time for the first assessment.

She was 100% so clearly suffering FROM PPP. how can you not recognize that undeniable fact?

Just because she wasn’t diagnosed doesn’t mean it wasn’t happening. I wasn’t diagnosed with Crohn’s disease for 8 years because doctors dismissed my symptoms due to me appearing as a healthy young woman.

I only got diagnosed because I over exaggerated my symptoms. I lied. I said I was sh*tting blood and that I unexplainable lost 20 pounds in the past month when I knew it was because I wasn’t eating on purpose because it made my stomach hurt.

Well I finally got a colonoscopy that found ulcers all over inside of me. Tons of chronic inflammation. Boom. That took me 8 years.

I live in an extremely comprehensive healthcare state. One of the best. And for years, doctors didn’t listen to me when I told them over and over again that I was sick and needed a colonoscopy.

I believe without a single shred of doubt in my mind that Lindsey has PPP and should therefore be institutionalized. I don’t think she should be walking free ! That would be ludicrous. I think she needs to get the mental healthcare she so clearly requires. This isn’t someone who’s a psychopath.

She isn’t a psychopath. She isn’t a murderer. She is a woman who was failed by the healthcare system. Not everybody is forthcoming with their internal struggle. You think a properly mentally ill person will always be 100% honest with what’s happening in their minds? Absolutely not.

She was 100% so clearly suffering FROM PPP.

Were you in her head at the time?  You don't know anything, except what she claimed afterwards.

You are just as certain of her innocence as your doctors were sure that you were healthy.

u/WearyContribution188 11h ago

It was premeditated . She deserves no pity. Only the children deserve sympathy.

u/Prestigious-Ad1346 11h ago

I 100% disagree with you and hope
You never have children because I would rather spend the rest of my life alone than have someone like you in my life as a partner or a parent.

u/WearyContribution188 4h ago

She strangeld her small, defenceless children to death. It was obviously premeditated & she was never diagnosed with PPP until after the event. As a child abuse survivor i think my perspective is more valid than a bunch of spoiled Karens & wine mums.

I wasn’t diagnosed with Crohn’s disease until I finally decided to exaggerate my symptoms to a doctor and get a colonoscopy despite seeming like a healthy 25 year old woman. And I live in the best healthcare state in the country. Well well well I had ulcers all over my colon and chronic inflammation ! Sure tell signs of Crohn’s. It took me 8 years. 8 years of suffering to finally have a doctor take me seriously enough to give me a colonoscopy.

I know so many young woman like myself who’s symptoms have been ignored. Fine PPP is different than Crohn’s. Obviously. But my point is that people’s symptoms, especially women’s, have historically been taken as unserious by medical professionals. We have been failed by the medical system over and over and over again.

Because of my horrible experience in taking 8 years to finally be diagnosed and taken seriously by a doctor, I know without a doubt that Lindsey could faced the same problem. PPP doesn’t show up the same way in all patients. That would be ludicrous. Not even headaches show up the same way from one person to the next.

I think it’s such a shame that despite all the evidence that she was failed by the medical system that was supposed to protect and take care of her, people like you decide to ignore those obvious signs. There’s a reason why completely insane people get overlooked for so long until it is too late. This happens all the time. All the time.

A woman in nyc who was clearly suffering from BPD and psychosis just stabbed an innocent woman and then lunged at police only to be shot down. She was also failed by the medical system. She was clearly suffering something deeply psychological. It’s. Really. Sad. That mental illness isn’t taken seriously
