News Geico Tucson Employee Lawsuit

Upvotes

Update: As of today 3/20/2025, I have been told to start looking for a new job. I have been given the warning to have a job lined up just in case I am fired throughout this investigation into the employees claims. I am hoping that I am not fired though, and will be able to still suport my family.

I’ve been holding this in for too long, but I can’t sit by and let this continue. I’m a supervisor in the Emergency Roadside department at GEICO’s Tucson office, and I have had to enforce policies that are not only unfair but downright cruel. Enough is enough. I am tired of doing this to the employees I supervise.

One of our employees, who I can’t name but many of you know, was humiliated beyond belief. This person was denied restroom access, and urinated their pants at their desk, and was then mocked by multiple supervisors for weeks afterward. That’s not just unprofessional, it’s disgusting.

This employee did what anyone would do: They pushed back, they asked questions, they reported it to HR, they stood up for themselves. And what did GEICO do? They retaliated against them and fired them.

Now, a lawsuit is coming, and honestly, it’s overdue. GEICO has been treating its workers like they’re disposable for too long. If you’ve been mistreated, retaliated against, or forced to endure this toxic environment, it’s time to speak up. Their may be a class action lawsuit coming if more of you speak up who are at the Tucson office or beyond. I know alot of people in my area are being mistreated by other sups.

I don’t care what HR says, I don’t care what upper management threatens, we know what’s right, and we know what’s wrong. If you’ve been a victim of this, you’re not alone. Change is coming, and GEICO won’t be able to cover this up for much longer. The email from the employee is already beginning to leak out and a lot of sups have seen it here already.

I think that if it reaches the main branch or the public GEICO is going to have a meltdown about this. I am scared that at this time they will fire the whole department for this. I need the money and cant afford to be unemployed right now. I have a family to take care of.

If you are reading this at the Tucson branch, stay strong. I hope that this blows over. But I have a feeling that the employee might sue and all us sups may lose our jobs.

Vent So unprofessional?

WHY why WHY the fuck are we always making NOISE? I feel like the GRINCH but my GOD we are at work!!! There is no statistic supporting the need for this constant "encouragement" that doesn't really connect to Certification growth and fake trophies you have to return. I get physically ill at "Best of the Best", if you don't know it's a cultish "celebration" of Service associates and teams every Wednesday. IT IS LIKE TAKING CALLS WITH BLACKJACK AND HOOKERS IN THE BACKGROUND. "I GOT A MOAT!" I got your MOAT right HERE buddy, stfu!! Even the customers complain, so it's not just me.

I miss Boomers in the workplace lol What a thing to say.

My sup is great and very supportive in a real way but the managers are millenial lunkheads who think everything must be "FUN". Always childless jerkoffs with nothing better to do. My manager in particular actively doesn't want to change the volume issue, but also mention she goes DND as soon as she gets home??? WHY ARE YOU SO FAKE???

I will tolerate the asinine micromanagement but I will continue to enjoy a calming smoke during those god-awful work parties.

G branded b*er would help too, wishful thinking lol

Geico cancelled my policy

Upvotes

Geico cancelled my policy without any notice. My premium is already paid through 12/2026. Apparently, they added some additional charges of $230 which I did ask Geico to remove but they did not. They chose to cancel my policy.

Buy back fleet vehicle?

Upvotes

Has anyone purchased their fleet vehicle when it was time to turn it in? Is there any actual discount, or is Geico trying to make a buck? I reached out to Element but they weren't any help. Trying to figure out if it's worth it. TIA

GEICO is Hell.

Upvotes

GEICO is the worst place to work. I tried to cope by pretending everything is bad but this is literally hell. Whenever I get PTO I instantly use it. Managers are all liars and they will say whatever they can to keep you motivated. I'm going to put in my 2 weeks and apply to a different company.

You guys were right.

Warning to Gelflings

Upvotes

I really think people at G, especially in ICS and Service, need to start paying attention to what is happening.

G is spending a ton of money on AI, automation, and new technology. And at the same time the jobs are already changing. In ICS, you now have systems that can literally feed you your work. The next task, tracks your productivity, tracks how long you take, and basically tells you what to work. The incoming call thing was lowered and now have no hold on incoming calls.

The computer already knows what work needs to be done, who should get it, how long it takes, and how much you completed. How hard is it to imagine the next step being: “Okay, which of these tasks do we actually still need a person to do?”A lot of entry-level claims work is repetitive. Emails, basic updates, rentals, follow-ups, simple coverage questions, basic liability tasks, document review, etc.

Those are exactly the kinds of things companies are trying to automate. Service should be paying attention too. If customers can do more through apps, chatbots, AI phone systems, and self-service, why would Geico need the same number of people answering basic calls?

I’m not saying every adjuster is getting fired tomorrow.I’m saying the writing is on the wall.G is clearly trying to do more with technology and fewer manual steps. So if you work there, I would use the opportunity to move up and learn something harder to automate.

BI.Litigation.SIU.Complex coverage.Underwriting.Management. Because I really would not feel comfortable sitting in an entry-level ICS or Service role for the next 1-2 years thinking it is going to stay the same.

Are you seeing more queues, more dashboards, more tracking, more timers, more “Get Next,” and more systems deciding what you do all day? Because that is exactly what people should be talking about. And half of u supervisors shouldn’t assume , that u are completely safe either u were warned too.

BOGUS REFERRAL TRANSFERS

Upvotes

The transfers from Auto Sales and Service are literally trash. People will call to make a simple change with no intention for home or renters or even any paperwork or any idea what they pay etc

Moat has a had a goal on Sales but 90% have no intention or wake-up saying hey I need home insurance

Vent Feel trapped in service

Upvotes

I don't know what to do. I've developed insomnia for the first time in my life because I cannot get myself to sleep when I have work the next day, the back-to-back "Auto, service service general" and complaining, venting, scoffing, cluelessness, "I need my premium lowered", "Well how is that my fault"s all swirl around in my head. When I finally sleep, my dreams are full of me waking up late and adjusting Workday and asking a supervisor to adjust NICE for me. I have been accused of "raping" policyholders because I couldn't get him the document he needed from 1984, I've been called a little bitch and told to get off my ass because I couldn't issue an invalid refund, been asked "How dare you tell this to an 85 year old lady..?" after telling an elderly woman who'd just gotten into an accident that her policy canceled from non-payment, been called r*tarded and a Chinaman...it gets to a point. My supervisor is fed up with me because I am constantly running out of PTO since any moment I can afford to stay off the phones, I take. My eyes burn from these screens, I've taken more Tylenol and Naproxen for my headaches since starting this job than I've taken in years, and my fuse is so short that I'll snap at my friends and family and then catch myself later like "What was that about?"
Come 8AM, the phone goes off nonstop, I keep having to mute to cough since I end up sounding like a chainsmoker while running my 60th quote of the day or giving my 80th "Let me conduct a full policy review to make sure you're getting the best rate possible", I can hear my callers getting confused/impatient when I'm trying to get metrics included in the calls that do not need to be included. An 89 year-old is not going to use the Geico app. A policy going up 3k from a 16 year-old son crashing his BMW and then driving on a suspended license will not be saved by "One of the perks of your policy is your MBI coverage". There is no amount of fluff that can save policyholders who are drowning in debt, being screwed over by elements or departments out of my control (or just do not have the slightest clue what they're talking about), and there is no amount of training or coaching or micromanagement that will turn a service agent into an unfeeling slate that can stare at 3 screens and be berated for an entire day, sans 30 minutes, but God forbid you have to use the bathroom outside of those 30 minutes, just make sure you use your PTO and have a supervisor adjust NICE and that you clock out of Workday and clock back in when you're back. I mean holy shit. I don't know what to fucking do. My metrics are consistently at the top of my colleague's because of how much stress and anxiety I put into making sure I'm hitting everything and yet my supervisor still makes it a point to treat me like I'm a fucking idiot. All of my metrics brought me to 89.8% one month and I received a Slack message telling me to push for over 90%. I was the only person in my team who had gotten that high and that was the message I got. I'd be fine with it if these metrics, my 20%+ MOAT effectiveness, and surveys at least earned me a promotion, but it has been months upon months and a performance review has never been mentioned ever since my training days because there is no one to conduct one because we are so fucking understaffed. I only recently finished new hire training and I'm already handling most licensed states, reissues, cancellations, change of address, and there was no pay increase for any of these added skills. I tried asking my supervisor when I may be due for a promotion and she never gave me a solid answer beyond my handling time needing to be shaved down by 30 seconds. OUR PROGRAMS ARE CONSTANTLY BROKEN OR LAGGING OR GLITCHING OUT. I have had to enter VINs 3+ times like an idiot because every time I'd progress forward I'd get a system error. I have filled out entire pages with information, proceeded with the default effective date, and then lose everything I entered because of "entering a new policy date". Audit failures, trouble tickets that never see the light of day, supervisor callbacks that never got called back, underwriting deciding after 5+ years that they need proof of residency and registration and this that and the other from every driver on the policy and rejecting the documents that were sent 2-3 times until the policy is canceled and now I'm the one being berated, yelled at, cried at, "why me"-d at and the best I can do is put in a plog entry. I feel like a cog in a busted machine, or an overfilled tire on a car with three flats barreling down a highway putting in 4x the effort just to end up inevitably crashing anyway. There is so much more to me than a call script and I know I'm not the idiot I'm made out to be by both the company and the callers, but I am so perpetually exhausted that I do not have the bandwidth to pursue the things I once cared about. This job was supposed to be a stepping stone but it's like a ball and chain.

This back to back call shit is killing me

Upvotes

"BuT wE'rE a CaLl CenTeR" no the fuck we're not. Not exclusively anyway. We're supposed to be working calls AND queue to get our numbers, and it's impossible to get those numbers if we are restricted from working queue most of the time. Also, call after call after call from people who bitch endlessly about the hold times and having to deal with shitty AI, on top of all the normal things people bitch about that are beyond your control, has me at my fucking limit.

That's the post. I'm just ranting I guess.

SOMOS Service More like TODOS

Upvotes

Hello I'm a a SOMOS agent working for Geico and i have notice that lately we have been receiving the workload of many departments that are not part of SOMOS, for example once the Claims, Reissue and Retention English departments close, agents start transferring calls over to us making the Spanish calls back up by a lot and then customers start complaining and whining about how long it takes us to answer a call and how shitty the AI is.

0 incentive as well, no monthly bonuses for doing retention or reissue other than "well you have a job that should be incentive enough" this is ridiculous why hire use for one thing an then use us as the "do everything" department

just a rant i guess

At the end of my rope

Upvotes

Anybody taken FMLA for mental health and never gone back to work? This place is breaking me mentally and I can’t take it much longer. I have quite a bit of extended illness and PTO banked and I’m thinking about taking FMLA and possibly not returning. I’m having chest pains, panic attacks, hives, arms going numb from the tension in my neck and shoulders pinching nerves in my neck. I can’t take the stress much longer. GEICO is hands down the worst place I’ve ever worked. The 360 field rollout has been a nightmare. Being told that everybody has a place at GEICO but that there are no other virtual positions available, so if you don’t go into the field then you won’t have a job, only for it to be pushed back month after month and when they finally transitioned in July, they still weren’t ready. No support for those of us who have never been in the field, no communication, being told day after day that they are having to find a place for us because the area I’m in is overstaffed. On top of having no choice in going to the field, we were told that we would have to rearrange our lives for this job. Being told something different every other day and never knowing day to day if I’m going to wake up and be terminated. Micromanaging manager who is making everybody’s lives a living hell. I need a mental break or I’m going to crack and end up in an inpatient program.
Tell me your experiences and what my options are for quitting but still taking all of the time I have banked over the ten days of PTO that I would get paid out if I quit.

Serious To leave??

Upvotes

10 years in. Supervisor. Making a pretty fat stack at this point.

And naturally, the second I finally start making decent money, I get an interview with Liberty Mutual next week and start questioning every life choice I’ve ever made.
From what I can tell, I’d probably be taking a $10–15k pay cut to leave, which is enough money to make me physically ill because I have a family, a mortgage, and children who apparently require food every single day.

BUTTTTT… we all know money is not the only factor when you’ve been here long enough to have seen 47 reorganizations, 82 “exciting changes,” and at least one new corporate phrase per quarter.

So, former GEICO people who jumped to LM:
Is it actually better over there or is it just a different flavor of corporate bullshit?
How’s the workload/work-life balance?
Are the benefits decent?
Raises/bonuses?
Is there actual upward mobility?
If I go in $10–15k lower, can I reasonably promote my way back to my current salary?
How long did it take you to get there?
Most importantly: do you regret leaving?

I’m basically trying to decide whether I should stay in the toxic relationship because at least the toxic relationship pays me well, or take the financial L and hope Liberty Mutual is the emotionally available boyfriend of insurance companies.

Please tell me your LM success stories, horror stories, salary glow-ups, or just tell me to shut up, log back into Slack and enjoy my paycheck with the daily chest pain. 😂

Gatlin TX claims

For adjusters and supervisors at the Gatlin office, is it true nobody there has prior GEICO experience? Are you handling ARC and LCC claims at the same time? How is that going?

Serious Drug Test Florida

Upvotes

Recently got an interview for a sales role for Geico in Florida. I didn’t read anywhere during the application process that they drug test. I recently quit smoking and am worried if offered a position they will test and see weed in my system. Should I be worried?

Idk

Upvotes

I’m just here to complain. I hate my job. I just started orientation for the service dep. It fucking sucks. The metrics are bs. Maybe it’s just me but it feels absolutely impossible to keep my calls under 6 mins. moat sales are stupid. Everything is stupid. customers are dumb and rude as fuck. If you’re thinking about working here, don’t. It’s easy to let the money blind you but I promise it’s not worth it. Take the money while you’re in training and look for other jobs while you can or end up miserable like me. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.
