He only started this a month ago. He seems happy but since it's a sudden change for him to have a lick button I'm concerned...

So, my sister got some flowers (lilies) which are deadly to cats. The cat has already sniffed them, and I don't know if she ate any. She is going to the vet tomorrow.

When I explained this to my sister, she told me that I don't even know what kind of flowers they are, that my problem is that I have nobody to buy me flowers, and that she doesn't plan on moving them just because of me. She also laughed in my face while I was crying out of worry for the cat.

When I told her I would throw the flowers away if she didn't move them, she said, "Wow, you're so tough."

My mother doesn't believe me either, and she is laughing at me too.

What should I do?

My in-laws cat had kittens tonight. I would like to know how bad the deformity of the legs is (or if they’re broken). Is there anything I can do to up the chance of survival, and is it too young to take to the vet? I am from the US.

I recently found this sweet female cat outside in very poor condition. At first I believed she was a stray, so I started feeding her and trying to help her.
When I first found her, she was extremely dirty, thin, heavily infested with fleas, and constantly scratching and grooming herself.

Over the past two weeks I’ve been consistently feeding her wet food, providing fresh water, cleaning her up, and treating the fleas with Capstar and Advantage. Unfortunately, I’m now especially concerned about her mouth. She has significant buildup on her teeth, redness around her gums/mouth, and I have seen blood coming from her mouth. She also seems to have trouble fully opening her mouth or yawning. I attempted to give her dry food, but she appears unable to comfortably eat it, so I’ve been giving her wet food instead.
She also seems unusually sensitive when touched around parts of her body, so I’m worried there may be other medical problems that aren’t obvious from the outside.

The pictures I have are actually from about two weeks AFTER I started caring for her. I didn’t take pictures immediately because I initially assumed she was simply a stray and wasn’t expecting that I would need to document her condition.
Despite everything, she is incredibly affectionate and sweet.

My main goal right now is getting her properly examined by a veterinarian and figuring out what treatment she needs, especially for her mouth and teeth. I’m trying to help her as much as I realistically can and would appreciate any advice, resources, low-cost veterinary recommendations, rescue contacts, or other help people may know of in the DFW area.

I’m not looking for legal advice or trying to start a discussion about ownership. I’m mainly trying to get this cat the medical care and help she needs.

first time cat owner!! i adopted this 5 month old male kitten a week ago

and he has been acting weird!! he continuously spread nd strech his claws in and out like he's in discomfort..it does not look like regular kneading to me!! along with it he's suspiciously breathing like having a stuffy nose..all the time he's breathing like he's purring?? i dont thinks cats purr all the time and like he's having trouble breathing it seems..i am attaching a video, if u listen carefully how he's breathing..it sounds concerning.. even tho the rescue centre where i adopted this kitten said that he's happy thats why he's jus purring and kneading but why would they do it all the damn time...beside that he is eating happily and stool is fine as far.. he's pretty active and all the time he like rubs his body over my leg again n again and lets me pet him!! but beside that im afraid he might be having something in trouble thats why he's like breathing like this and also clawing even in sleep??????? ples helpppp i cant really afford a vet care right nowww :(

Hi all,

Male, neautered, age 4, I noticed this just now that my cats pupils are differing in their level of dilation. Pic 1 was first and then straight after pic 2 was taken after he took in some natural light.

I also noticed this morning that he hadn’t touched his food all night and wanted to sleep in the cupboard which is very out of character.

I plan on calling the vet and taking him in shortly when they open which is in about 30 minutes but wanted to ask on here in the mean time.

She is about twenty pounds and has a bigger buil but I am wondering if it is a medical concern because she looks kinda fat compared to my other friends cats and her late sister.

A few weeks ago, Mama Cat showed up at my shop in India with five tiny kittens in tow.

At first, this little guy would completely freeze or run away if anyone walked past. To help him settle, I’ve been sitting quietly on the shop floor during slow hours, talking gently so he gets used to human voices and presence.

This morning, he had his first big breakthrough. As soon as I started talking, his ears perked up, he stopped hesitating, and he waddled straight over to my hand. Watching a scared street kitten realize he's safe is the best feeling.

Since the post about my cat, my sister, and my mom who wouldn't let me throw out the lilies got a lot of attention, here is an update on what happened.

If you want the details:

I took my cat to the vet for a checkup. She is completely fine! The vet didn't charge me anything because she is perfectly healthy.

I threw the lilies away as soon as I got home and nobody else was around.

My sister purposely left her bedroom door open this morning. She locked it later when she was leaving and said, "Let's see you try to do something now." For some reason, she unlocked it again when she came back home (lol?) and then left again. That’s when I threw them into the trash. I left her some cash in case she wants to buy something else or a flower that isn’t toxic to cats (though I’m still not sure about that part).

I don't know what to expect when she gets back. As you guys already guessed, my family is very abusive... I’m not sure what will happen.

My mom told me that I can't behave like this and that I will "understand when someone gives you flowers." Btw, I used to get flowers when I had a boyfriend (and from other people too, of course 😭) and I honestly cannot believe she actually said that.

Warning,long read. This is my boy, Bean. He’s 4 years old, and neutered. 2 years ago, he started having instances where I noticed blood in his urine. I thought maybe he had a UTI or something so I took him to the vet I’d been using, and they tested a sample of his urine. They didn’t find any bacteria or crystals/stones. They said there was just a bit of blood and didn’t really give me much else besides that. I can’t remember if they gave me medication for him, I feel like they may have given him an antibiotic but I might be confusing that with the time he had a random abscess show up. It seemed like the issue went away though. Then last year, same thing. He started having blood in his urine and this time I was noticing he was peeing a lot, but small amounts. He wasn’t straining at all, just peeing often. He also started peeing outside of the litter box. I took him to a different vet office this time because I had found one I liked better, and one of the doctors checked him out fully and went over what the other vet had found previously. He diagnosed him with idiopathic cystitis and told me it’s pretty common in male cats Bean’s age. He said he wasn’t concerned about a blockage or crystals or anything like that, but also told me there’s not really much of a treatment. He said some people use a urinary food but because I have multiple cats (4) he wouldn’t recommend that because of price and because the other cats don’t need it. He did give a round of gabapentin and said this might clear it up for a bit, but he may have another bout again. He said it’s often stress related. After that, Bean went a while without a flare up of any kind. In May, I lost my grandmother that I was really connected to and went through a period of really struggling. Soon after that, Bean flared up again and started peeing weird places and having some blood in his urine. But then it seemed to get better, once I got more back to normal. Then in July, I went away for a week and when I came home, Bean AGAIN started up with symptoms. So, I went back to the same vet, but had a different doctor. She had a different opinion than the other doctor I’d seen there before. I didn’t really like my interaction with her to be honest, she talked over me when I tried to ask questions and made me feel a bit stupid. I’d been running off this other doctors advice, and feeling like there’s not much I can do to change things for Bean. I wanted more conversation about what’s going on, but she pretty much immediately said I need to put him on a urinary diet, and that all my cats are going to have to eat it because it won’t work for Bean if he’s getting into the other food. I tried to ask questions but just got to this point where she was making it seem like I was arguing with her and she kind of ended with, “maybe you don’t know this, but cats can die super fast with crystals and blockages.” I walked away from that appointment, frustrated, with 3 kinds of food to look into, a new prescription for Gabapentin and all these questions that she didn’t seem to want to answer. I started looking into FIC and reading veterinary studies, articles by vets, Reddit threads of people whose cats have had it and what they’ve done. I spent a few hours the day after Bean’s appointment researching and trying to learn whatever I could. The foods she gave me the name of, were meant to help with other urinary issues, like crystals (Hills CD, Royal Canin SO. Purina Pro plan St/ox) And, looking at their ingredients and reading some of the things I read, I was feeling like they didn’t even include the things that studies had found actually helped with FIC. After emailing the vets clinic with my concerns and them responding that they’d answer questions and then never responding when I DID ask questions I’m not sure what to do. The Gabapentin helps, but only if I’m consistently giving Bean 2 doses a day. I give him one in the morning, and one in the evening. But if I miss a dose at all, or even if my timing isn’t great, it seems like he’s right back to bloody pee. And peeing out of the litter box. Honestly, even on the med, he’s still having this issue, it’s just not nearly as frequent. I’ve gotten pheromone diffusers, I’m giving him more wet food and put a bunch more water dishes around the house to try to increase his water intake.
I’m frustrated because it feels like I’m fighting a losing battle, and I really want to help Bean improve. I’m not opposed to the urinary diets if they’re gonna help Beanie’s issue, but I don’t want to have to feed them to ALL my cats because i don’t like giving them something they don’t need. I also hate how all these diets seem like they’re so high in corn as the protein. That just feels counterintuitive… and they’re so freakin expensive for what seems like such low quality food. Idk. I just want to hear from others who’ve dealt with this, and is there any solution? I’m annoyed at my vet for not being better at answering questions without making me feel like they think I’m an idiot…. I’m washing bed sheets and rugs and any piece of clothing my children leave lay around multiple times a week because that’s where Bean is peeing, I’m worried he’ll end up dying from this, even though he’s his normal happy self. It just feels like a lot, and I’m tired. I love my Bean-boo, he’s such a good boy, how do I help him?

Was having a twitchy face that we later put down to tooth reabsorbsion. About 5 weeks ago he had the surgery to remove it and hasn’t been the same since

He still twitches , however now he can’t walk without falling over, hides under the bed all day every day, goes almost paralysed on half his body multiple times a day and gets very stiff. After multiple trips to the vet they put it down to maybe something neurological. It’s like he has brain damage. He has lost 7% of body weight, muscle wasting in his legs. About 3.8KG now. These extreme behavioural issues have been going for the five weeks post op. Only he was twitchy before

I can’t afford an MRI. Or an heart rate monitor , due to the fact it’s thousands of pounds which I’ve just spent on dentals and urinary blockages. He’s had about 7 vet appointments prior where they done blood tests. Tests for hyperthyroidism, liver checks etc . It basically been ruled down to brain or heart.

Been sent home with keppra anti siezure medication after videos of his behaviour were sent to the neurologist vet and about 2 weeks later there’s no improvement. Idk what to do. What the hell has happened too him. We have tried everything from anti inflammatorys to gaba .

Part of me thinks maybe I need to put him down. Idk if he’s in pain, but he sure as hell is confused. But another part of me thinks it’s too soon and maybe he will recover. Did he have a stroke? What happened. Was it focal siezures ? Why did it get worse after his extraction. We are absolutely destroyed he is our soul kitty x

NOTE: he has also stopped showing affection , doesn’t mind a little tail stroke. He’s stopped jumping up on anything at all, which is crazy bc he’s slept in my arms at night for 12 years. Possible arthritis but we have known that for a while. Idk what’s wrong with him. Sometimes he has a good day but it’s honestly about 1/5 days atp.

I f24 have two sweet boys, one named Maurice (white & black- 6 yrs old) & Marty (flamepoint- 1yr old)

Maurice had crystals & blockage over a year ago but we got it resolved. Marty just had crystal’s found in his urine as well, we made the switch for him to the dr hills c/d multi stress urinary care. It’s been a couple of weeks, always adding water to his food & making sure he’s getting enough hydration. Althoughhhhh, if I leave my clothes/towels on the ground he will pee on them. So I learned my lesson to keep everything picked up. But today he just peed on the ground by my shoes, he’s never done this.

I have a vet appointment for next week on the 16th just to get any health concerns out of the way. Are there any tips/tricks that anyone has to help with territorial/anxious cats? I’m thinking that’s what it is. He was neutered at 8wks.

Hello all (f23 us, have access to vet) my poor cat (male 3y/o neutered) seems to have his nail growing strangely, i trim his nails pretty often and i noticed the last toe is severely curving inwards, he’s never had this happen before and of course if it was just that it’s a simple trim just check more often but his quick is so close to the end of the nail so i’m not sure what to do, the nail is so close to his toe pad that i can’t even get the clippers behind the nail to trim just a tad off, if this is vet trip worthy what would they do to fix this and how can i prevent this in the further future?

Its not just the mango chunks. Its also prune juice, any fruit really, and my sparking water. Hes the worst about the mango tho. Hes fighting with me over the mango and trying to pull it out of my hand actively as I type this. I already gave him a piece of banana as a distraction, but he wants MY banana. Why???

so the same thing happened around a year ish ago, i brought her into the vet and they didn’t know what caused it. they said she may have gotten into cleaning supplies or something? i can say for certainty she didn’t, i have that all in a secure area. but they gave me some antibiotics and steroids and it went away. i just got back from a trip this weekend and noticed her mouth is inflamed/ has ulcers of some sort, very similar to last time. i am just wondering if anyone else’s cat has experienced this and can tell me what this is? sorry if the photos aren’t the best but she doesn’t like to stay still. i also apologize if this is the incorrect format this is my first time posting here

edit- i will also add i googled what it could be and i do have a plastic water fountain that could have contributed to an infection. i also read that the most common thing it could be is an allergic reaction to flea saliva

This is my cat Pearl (2yo F). We introduced a new kitten into the house about a week and a half ago. A few days after that, pearls second eye lid was closed about half way and this is about how much she can still open her eyes. We took her to the vet immediately as she became super lethargic, and hadn’t eaten or gone to the bathroom. It’s been a week since she has received fluids and been on antibiotics. She is now eating, a little less than normally still, and using the bathroom but has only had one bowel movement. She has been on eye drops as well, but her second eye lid is still closed and she will not open her eyes all the way. They said it was conjunctivitis and a respiratory infection possibly from the new kitten, but the new kitten and my younger cat are completely healthy. Is it concerning that she is still lethargic and eating and going to the bathroom a little less? She has finished her antibiotics and eye drops. Thank you.

Does her stomach look abnormal? in size? this is after a meal and water, she did use the litter box twice today, she’s a year old and she’s not pregnant, am I just being overly paranoid??

My cat has these transparent circle things in her eyes. I think they are just hairs as she literally is acting normal and isn't itching them. Should I try to get them out or leave them alone?

Update: the string in her left eye went away and the string in her right eye keeps moving around when she blinks. I am leaning towards eye good string or a hair

Update: it's the morning now and both strings are gone. I'm pretty sure it was just hairs in her eyes. I don't think she has worms or parasites since she shares a litter box with 2 other cats that don't have any symptoms. If it happens again I'll take her to the vet! Thank you all

My (U.S. F21) cat (2y/o spayed Female) has had 3 seizures im aware of. I just installed a camera in my room maybe a week and a half ago and captured this on recording today. Unfortunately I was at work and my boyfriend was in the shower so no one was with her.

It breaks my heart how she fell off the bed and how hard she hit the floor. This is the second time she’s fallen off the bed (first time I caught her before hitting the ground)

Should I remove my bed frame? She seems to be most comfortable having a seizure in my room, so should I make it accessible for her not to be able to fall off anything?

We do have a vet appointment coming up on the 9th, and she has been getting medicine to try to space the seizures out (which I think helped a little bit, it’s been over a month since her last one as opposed to the weekly basis she was having them on).

TLDR: cat falling off bed due to seizures, how to make her more comfortable

ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED. Help me help my baby :(

EDIT:: thank you all so much for the helpful feedback and kind words. I will be removing my box springs from my bed but keeping the frame so mold won’t grow on my mattress. I will be adding some pillows or dog beds around my bed (once I get paid that’s the first thing I’m buying) and most definitely trimming her nails today. I will look into those pheromone sprays and brain support additives for her meals. Truly thank you guys so much! Wish us luck at the vet on Wednesday :)

I am 24, in New England, US. He has a vet that I can take him to but I have not contacted them about this, I can afford vet care. My cat is neutered and 16 and he keeps doing this thing where he's wiping at his face and then making a gagging face (he doesn't make noise when this happens usually). He has done this before in the almost 3 years I've had him but very few and far between and only 1/2 gags each time he's done it. The last 2 days he's been doing it much more and longer (it'll last several minutes).

Has anyone seen this before?
