US Iran-War [Day 141]

Upvotes

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

Unsafe Driving - respect lives

Upvotes

Hi everyone, was going to say these couple of days driving in Bahrain felt very unsafe and strange on the roads.

Please tell everyone beside you to drive safely and respect others to heed and not hold the 1st lane or extreme high speeds, rushing in roundabouts.

The accident cases I hear about in Bahrain is horrific, esp. the last weeks. (There was a freak accident of 10 cars on my block near my home.)

While accidents do happen sometimes please guys.

I want to repeat to everyone that life matters, and somebody else’s life too.
Preserve it, keep it, and understand people’s lifes are in your hands.

‏الله يعطيكم العافية

☝️ AskBH Tamkeen related confusion?

Upvotes

I have 3 years working experience, my first job never applied for tamkeen and I was working there for two years.

The second job applied for tamkeen but fired me in 8 months

I am wondering if my next job will

  1. Get tamkeen support?
  2. Will the tamkeen support begin all over or will continue from when I stopped working at my previous job?
  3. Also how many time am I eligible for this support?

I read on the website that each individuals get only two tries, but my first application ended in 8 months..

I was going through the reviews of solidarity on the internet as the other party’s insurance is of the following and it says that they take a lot of time to approve and proceed to repair has anyone been in a similar situation and how was the outcome?

Guide to Exchange your foreign driving license to a Bahraini one

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently got my residency in Bahrain and I was looking for any post explaining how to exchange my foreign driving license with a Bahraini one but the only post I could find dated years back and was outdated, so this is an updated account of any expats that are wondering what they should expect.

What you will need : Driver's license, CPR, 2 Pictures and a Credit/Debit Card ( cash is not accepted )

To check if your driver's license is eligible to be exchanged without taking extra tests : check the first picture (I couldn't find this list on any official website so I had to ask a driving instructor to send me one and he assured me it hasn't changed since the date it was taken )

First and this was the most confusing part of all of this, you need to install an app called Mawaied (Scan the QR code on the 2nd Image I attached, because if you just search for it you will get another blue application that is not the correct one), the problem I had is that since my google play was tied to my home country, scanning the QR returned a "this app is not available in your country". After several trials trying to change the country on google play and since I still didn't have a local bank card, I couldn't connect my account with Bahrain. I advise you to do as I did and make a whole new Gmail account with Bahrain as country of residency.

Open the app and look for Traffic Directorate and then proceed to take an appointment under REPLACE & EVALUATE DRIVING LICENSES. The app is straight forward and self explanatory. I picked the Souq Muharraq Security Complex.

Once the appointment is taken, make sure you prepare a picture and take it with to the appointment, this will be demanded.

Once you get there, the receptionist will hand you a form that you need to fill. Fill it, Attach your picture to it, have your CPR and license ready and wait for your turn.

The agent will take the form, license and picture and then ask you to wait again until the doctor calls your number on the screen again. Here you will pay 5 BD. Payment in cash is not accepted and I was lucky to have my credit card with me since I didn't have a Bahraini bank account yet.

The doctor will do the usual eye test then stamp on your document and you will then wait until the agent calls on your number again.

You will be sent to another desk where you will be asked to pay 20 BD to get the physical driver's license. This is the last step.

The foreign driver's license will not be held and will be handed back to you.

The whole process took around 40 minutes and was very smooth. The agents are extremely kind and it was a breeze to do.

Hope this helps anyone in my situation .

☝️ AskBH Mandatory health insurance for dependent visas.

Upvotes

So LMRA has made it mandatory to attach a valid health insurance card for each new dependent application as of last week. This is adding to the cost of the visas. Does anyone know of any cheap options? As of now i am aware that solidarity is providing the insurance for 55 BD (1 year visa) and 110 BD ( 2 years visa).

🤔 Discussion SMC logic: Walk upstairs, go downstairs for 50 mins, walk back upstairs 💀

Upvotes

Had an appointment at SMC today at 9:10 AM. I arrived at 9:00 AM (gotta love being punctual) and went straight to the appointment area. Was told I had to check in at reception downstairs first.

Went down, pulled ticket #673 while #640 was being called, and waited about 50 minutes. Finally get up to the desk, and their groundbreaking instruction was... "Go back upstairs for your appointment."

Because of that goose chase, everything got delayed, and a simple appointment ate up 3 hours of my day 🫠

Watch out for fake government calls on Google Meet

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to warn you about a scam I ran into on Google Meet recently.

I've been getting calls from random Gmail accounts:

One person (sufyankan556@gmail.com) put the Ministry of Interior logo as their profile picture to make it look real.

Another account (dilawaroad90@gmail.com) kept calling me and telling me to turn on my camera.

Remember: Real government workers will never call you from a regular @gmail.com email address on Google Meet.

If this happens to you:

1. Do not answer and do not turn on your camera.

2. Block and report the accounts in Google Meet right away.

Has anyone else been getting strange calls like this lately?

autism diagnosis for adults in Bahrain (f 24)

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I need recs for a good psychiatrist/ neuropsychiatrist in Bahrain who specializes in autism diagnosis for adults (+20), that can really help without trying to pushback against my request to be assessed.

I've looked through some results in Google (hospitals, clinics, etc) but I haven't found any doctor in Bahrain that specializes in autism/ ADHD diagnosis for adults, they mainly work with children.

Also, if you have any experiences with autism diagnosis as an adult in Bahrain, I'd really appreciate if you could share them.

📆 Events Join a social chess event!

Upvotes

HEYY!!

I'm hosting an open-for-all event in collaboration with Cafe Rumi on September 19th from 4-6 pm.

I've been reading loads of people on this sub complaining about loneliness and not having an opportunity to make friends outside of university. This is why the main objective is to bring people together, and chess is really just an excuse, so feel free to join even if you don't know much about chess!

Please reply to this post (or DM me) if you're interested in joining!

PS: Please bring your own chessboard if possible (dw if you don't have one, as we have our own chessboards too), and because this event is free of charge, please buy something from the cafe to support the business!!!

Thanks, everyone. I look forward to seeing you all!

☝️ AskBH Efficient way to travel to Khobar and back

Upvotes

Hello everyone! I suffer from epilepsy and i never drive for the safety of people on the road and mine. Thus, i am trying to find a cost-effective solution to travel to khobar and back. I would travel almost weekly on weekends from Thursday afternoon to Saturday evening. The least price i found for a round-car trip is 70BHD. Kindly, if you know about any way that is cheaper and a better option for my trips, i would be most grateful for your help in any information for the alternative choice.

Thank you!

🤔 Discussion NPRA asking for a “four-name certificate” for my father’s Bahraini passport renewal, where can we get it?

Upvotes

My father is renewing his Bahraini passport, and there’s an issue involving an additional name. His CPR has already been updated and renewed with the additional name, but NPRA is now asking for a “four-name certificate” to proceed with the passport renewal.

We’re a little confused about what this certificate is, who issues it, and why it’s needed when his renewed CPR already reflects the updated name. We may be missing a step, so any guidance would really help.

Has anyone been through this? Where did you obtain the certificate, and is there a reliable document clearance agent who could help us sort it out?

It’s becoming quite stressful for him, and we’d really appreciate any firsthand advice or recommendations. Thank you.

Man, I just found out they downgraded minimum customs exemption threshold from 300bd to 100bd

Upvotes

It’s been a minute since I ordered anything over 100 BD, so finding out at my front door that the customs threshold got slashed from 300 BD down to 100 BD was a non happy surprise. Paying customs duty on a minor purchase is ridiculous. And seeing articles about "big local traders welcoming the change"? these pieces of shits... of course they love killing any kind of competition. Between GPU stock issues, chip shortages, ridiculous price hikes, war affecting the economy, and now this tax squeeze, trying to build a PC right now is insanely exhausting. I’m just tired

☝️ AskBH Working while studying

Upvotes

Students I would like to hear about your experience working while studying in university. ( I mean students who are working by their willingness not because their family are in need. )

Im going to study my first year in university and i really like the idea of working while studying, having my own money and being able to spend it on my hobbies and things i like/need without burden my family with it.
