Hey I’ve had my V. Chromatus Agnes for a few months. Bought (hopefully) her as a juvenile around 5-6cm in legspan, however after her first molt under my care she started behaving like an OBT, putting up a threat pose as soon as I start misting her enclosure. Does anyone have the same experience with V. Chromatus being maniacal? Is it possible she’s too big for her enclosure and i should rehouse?
(She’s still pretty to even if she behaves like a dipshit hehe)

My tarantula molted the other day, but I can't really tell if it's male or female just by looking at the shed skin. If there's anyone knowledgeable out there, please let me know which one it is based on this image!

By the way, my tarantula still has a leg span of about 2.5 to 3 inches.

hi all this is from my eupalaestrus larae. the molt itself is probably about 1.5” and i really really tried to get it to open and lay flat. ended up poking a few holes from shaky hands and lack of depth perception but wanted to know if it was still possible to tell?

Hey, yall! I left Sesame’s molt in the enclosure over the weekend and it got super dried up, and I damaged it trying to unfold it. But, do any of these pictures help with sexing? I’m struggling to find where it’s at. (Never done this before)

I’m a first time T owner. This is Peach! I’ve had her for about a month and I’m not sure if she’s eating correctly. I know she molted before I got her but I’m not sure when. I’m worried!

Super excited to finally get to post here! Ive had tarantulas in the past but not for 8 ish years. I got a Mascara Giant Birdeater about 2 weeks ago. I let him/her become acquainted with the new surroundings. Last week on Thursday, a week from gotcha day, I crushed a mealworm and dropped it in there. They happily munched away on it and I thought we were getting somewhere. This morning which is now almost 3 weeks from gotcha day I noticed he/she has enclosed their hide with dirt on both sides. Am I to assume it is molting or is it just burying itself? I can't see into the hide at all it closed off both ends really well and I obviously don't want to go poking around if it's molting. Common sense tells me leave it alone and wait and see if it comes out for food or not. Which leads to another question. Do I drop another worm in there to see if it'll come out and eat? Thanks for any information. I don't know last time it molted the pet store couldn't tell me. I ordered it through them so it would arrive safely. They did say it was a juvenile.

Just wanted to post about my terrarium because frankly i'm excited to show this and havent got any friend that share this interest I posted about the proces before, now my terrarium is nearly done. just need to hide the thermostat cable and i think i want to something of bigger stone or something in the middle, because i know my T likes to sit a little elevated. Almost time for my gbb to be introduced to its new home!

Its an arid/desert like setup. the substrate turned a little more red then intended maybe. Chromatopelma's dont seem to burrow, but i reckon she can burrow all she want in here.

i intend to set it up as a bioactive enclosure. the plants are all real (only succulents). i intend to add springtails and maybe isopods if i can find the right ones. i'm a little afraid of them being able to nibble on the spider when in molt. at the same time, she's a heavy webber and she molts in her web above the floor usually. I dont think isopods are crazy enough to walk up a spider web just to get a little nibble. does anyone have experience in this?

i know even isopods and springtails that are suited for dryer conditions need a little moisture. i intend to keep everything fairly dry but just keeping the front left corner a little more moist. I placed some stones and cocofiber in that corner beneath the substrate with a cork bark on top, so it will retain moisture a little longer when sprinkled now and then. The right front corner will get a small ceramic heat emitter (with thermostat) above it, because it can get somewhat cold in my homeoffice in fall/winter. the terrarium is big enough so my T can choose what conditions suit her best.

To me setting up/decorating an enclosure like this is just as much fun as keeping the T. I'm already thinking about getting another terrarium with a more tropical/moist theme! not sure my wife will accept, or she will be filing for divorce first. 3rd picture is the current setup. was big enough for now but not for long i guess.

Mexican red knee. Molted for first time. fed it a day or so later. Came back the next day. Noticed the lid was slightly cracked open. waited a few days in case it was buried. No sign. Food untouched. Searched everywhere. been almost a week.

Should i cut my losses?

i feel like an idiot. I dont know how i couldve messed up this badly. I failed it.

Edit: ive also been informed to not feed it after it molts.

This is Nebula, a sub-adult Green Bottle Blue. I have never noticed this behavior before. Does anyone know what she/he is doing?

My Fringed Ornamental Sandeep has claimed its first meal in my care. I’ve got no clue what its sex is but I’m loving it so far. They definitely possess blinding speed.

My GBB is looking amazing! Starting to lose those baby stripes. I figure by next molt they will be gone. Also, my salmon pink molted again! WOOT WOOT
P.s. the molt is wet due to being in a soap solution so I could reposition it

Looks at himbs!. And yes this is definitely a male he's grown so quickly in such a short time he's a happy pet hole or web puppy most days. He's such a stunning bright orange. I'll have to move him into a larger enclosure when I return from my vacation as he's getting a bit big for the XL arboreal keeper.

So my tarantula managed to escape her enclosure while I was on vacation, and she could’ve escaped anywhere from and hour ago to 3 days. I’m kinda freaking out cause my parents would be pissed if she escaped and idk if she’s still in my room. While I was gone my door was wide open. I really need help asap to find her before someone else does

I got my 2.5inch avic almost two weeks ago and they have just refused to eat. I knew it was relatively normal for a spider to refuse food for weeks to months to even over a year and be ok, but of course as a new owner I was worried. Just got back from camping a couple nights and they absolutely demolished a mealworm without hesitation! So proud and relieved that they aren't too stressed to eat.

I’m thinking of getting my first Tarantula soon, and I’m curious which species is most consistently on display. I’m fairly familiar with invert pets, and don’t really mind what the temperament of the t would be, I’m mostly just looking for an animal I can build a beautiful enclosure and then watch use it. I would enjoy building an enclosure that’s more arboreal/tropical, but that’s not a necessity. What species would y’all recommend I look into?

What kind of reaction do you get in your country when you say you keep tarantulas?

Hi friends I was at an expo an was sold what was supposedly a Magnacrus tongmianemsis juvenile (previously named Citharognathus tongmianemsis) which is supposedly a very rare find here in Europe. It's just had it's first moult since getting it and does not look like it at all. Anyone has any idea on this? It's had very chill temperament and have not burrowed.

First two images are pre moult and I've attached images of the moult as well. I understand the prescribed species is very rare and therefore difficult to confirm identity for. First time owner. I know tarantulas may sit in one spot for long periods of time due to being stressed from a new environment but little Bartholomew has been exploring his enclosure non stop! (: I have about 4 inches of substrate, a cork hide and a water dish. Yippee!
