I have 2 T’s and I wanted to know what lights I can use to make them stand out more but I’m worried I big bright white light would bother them are there any that are “safer” or safe do I need a special kind ? I want them to look more like a display ig

My tarantula molted the other day, but I can't really tell if it's male or female just by looking at the shed skin. If there's anyone knowledgeable out there, please let me know which one it is based on this image!

By the way, my tarantula still has a leg span of about 2.5 to 3 inches.

Hey, yall! I left Sesame’s molt in the enclosure over the weekend and it got super dried up, and I damaged it trying to unfold it. But, do any of these pictures help with sexing? I’m struggling to find where it’s at. (Never done this before)

Super excited to finally get to post here! Ive had tarantulas in the past but not for 8 ish years. I got a Mascara Giant Birdeater about 2 weeks ago. I let him/her become acquainted with the new surroundings. Last week on Thursday, a week from gotcha day, I crushed a mealworm and dropped it in there. They happily munched away on it and I thought we were getting somewhere. This morning which is now almost 3 weeks from gotcha day I noticed he/she has enclosed their hide with dirt on both sides. Am I to assume it is molting or is it just burying itself? I can't see into the hide at all it closed off both ends really well and I obviously don't want to go poking around if it's molting. Common sense tells me leave it alone and wait and see if it comes out for food or not. Which leads to another question. Do I drop another worm in there to see if it'll come out and eat? Thanks for any information. I don't know last time it molted the pet store couldn't tell me. I ordered it through them so it would arrive safely. They did say it was a juvenile.

I got a G.pulchripes (chaco) sling today. And it's so SMOL.

I just wanted some tips about how to care for it, especially since it's a spiderling.

I've set up its enclosure halfway filled with coco coir.

Dripped some water on one side, made a small cave using a terracota thingy i had.

I also got some mealworms for it but they have started pupating but oh well.

Hi this is kind of a quick post because I’m upset but I’ll add some photos tomorrow after school.
I got my first sling a couple months ago after begging my parents for maybe 2 years because my mum hates spiders with a passion lol.
He was a little Australian featherleg tarantula and I had a small setup for him because he was still tiny. He put up a bunch of webs everywhere pretty quickly and I would put a small cricket in the enclosure every week or two when he would come out, and it was always gone when I checked the next morning and he didn’t lose any weight or anything so I don’t think he died because he didn’t eat enough. But just tonight when I checked his enclosure I noticed this other spider that definitely wasn’t a tarantula in there and I was like wtf because why is this random spider in my tarantulas enclosure. It kinda looks like a redback - like the same general look - but it’s got like brown mottling on its back. I freaked out a little and started pulling apart his enclosure and I found like what looks like half of a moult of his but since I hadn’t checked on him in a week and I couldn’t find him anywhere else in the enclosure I’m pretty sure the moult looking thing is him. I’m kinda confused and I know this is really vague and kinda confusing and I can provide pictures of the random spider and the moult thing tomorrow but I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced anything similar or if it’s like definitely possible that this other spider killed my tarantula? It’s small but about his size so idk.
Sorry for how vague this is I’m upset and so tired I’m kinda out of it - because this is my first tarantula ever and I feel like I should’ve been able to prevent this in some way.

The worm appears to have been consumed, and she is definitely a lot fatter now lol which I think supports my theory of them being a hydrating treat.

She is just chilling in her burrow now and I am hoping she will go back to hanging around out of her burrow like she usually does when not in pre-molt or immediate post molt so I can gaze upon her beauty easier lol.

hi all this is from my eupalaestrus larae. the molt itself is probably about 1.5” and i really really tried to get it to open and lay flat. ended up poking a few holes from shaky hands and lack of depth perception but wanted to know if it was still possible to tell?

I’m thinking of getting my first Tarantula soon, and I’m curious which species is most consistently on display. I’m fairly familiar with invert pets, and don’t really mind what the temperament of the t would be, I’m mostly just looking for an animal I can build a beautiful enclosure and then watch use it. I would enjoy building an enclosure that’s more arboreal/tropical, but that’s not a necessity. What species would y’all recommend I look into?

Hi friends I was at an expo an was sold what was supposedly a Magnacrus tongmianemsis juvenile (previously named Citharognathus tongmianemsis) which is supposedly a very rare find here in Europe. It's just had it's first moult since getting it and does not look like it at all. Anyone has any idea on this? It's had very chill temperament and have not burrowed.

First two images are pre moult and I've attached images of the moult as well. I understand the prescribed species is very rare and therefore difficult to confirm identity for. First time owner. I know tarantulas may sit in one spot for long periods of time due to being stressed from a new environment but little Bartholomew has been exploring his enclosure non stop! (: I have about 4 inches of substrate, a cork hide and a water dish. Yippee!

Hello guys, the title basically says it all. I was just gifted my first ever sling (P. Irminia) and I‘m curious as to if there is anything I need to be aware of.

I think most advice needed is in the following points:

-How often do I feed her and what prey would be appropriate

-After molting (since the fangs are so tiny) how long should I wait after offering food again

-Anything in particular I should know when setting up the enclosure? I know it’s an arboreal species but maybe there’s something I don’t know yet.

Anyways I’m grateful for any advice since I‘m pretty new to the hobby. (2nd ever T; My first was a C. Cyaneopubescens at around 1.5-2in when I got her)

I will be getting my first tarantula in a few weeks at a local expo, I am planning to get a curly hair because my research has indicated it would probably be the best in terms of cold tolerance (i keep my house around 68-70 degrees) and how docile it may be along with its adult size in relation to the enclosure I have. I've just setup finished the setup and would like feedback on of this is appropriate or what needs to change. This enclosure is a 20.5x10.5.8 inch zoomed creature den. I used the biosoil blend along with the pretty much 4 grains of creature soil it came with. I do have a large rock as a retaining wall for the deeper side of the enclosure.

ETA: is it okay that this is on my desk feom which I work daily or should it be on a surface that I wont be using consistently?

Man I feel so mean to my Golden knee but he now looks like an actual Tarantula rather than a small brown dot. I love how his lil golden knees have finally started showing and his carapace is getting that deep bronze/gold colour his sub species has.

Criminal is going in his enclosure, so is Blueberry and Fluff is also in a old feeder case. She's is not a happy bunny. My Snow leopard gecko named Moro is also in a box waiting for the taxi to come so we can grab and go and off they go into boarding.

So I got into the hobby again this summer with four spiders in total, two were Grammostola iheringi slings. They are "Sebastian" and "Svavel", where "Svavel" is the Swedish word for sulphur. (Didn't want to jinx it by calling them Sabrina and Sarah) .
