Unanswered Where should I post about a weird school therapy memory from the 90s?

Upvotes

What subreddit should I post this in? I had a weird memory surface and was wondering if this was any kind of common therapy activity for school age children in the 1990s...

I was just drifting to sleep and felt a brief sensation that I was spinning, and with it this familiar awareness of becoming a better person. That doesn't make sense. It didn't make sense to me. I woke up fully and tried to remember why I felt that, and I remembered something I had not thought of in many years. I think I maybe was subjected to some kind of weird experimental therapy as a child.

In 1995 I entered third grade. When we started doing multiplication tables, I got really frustrated with these timed exercises and I screamed in class and threw my text book at the teacher. Not ideal behavior. They sent me to the principal first and then the school counselor.

If you had asked me yesterday what happened in Ms T's office, I would have said that I laid on a couch hugging a teddy bear and talked about my feelings. But now I'm remembering something else entirely.

She showed me a drop spindle and wool, and the wool was chaotic, and represented all these bad itchy, frustrated, no good feelings. It came apart when you pulled it because it was weak. And then she spun the spindle and made yarn, and the yarn was smoother and orderly and strong.

Then she told me to spin around in a circle, over and over again, and repeat phrases. Things like "I'll be respectful to my teacher and friends. I'll come to class prepared to learn." And I spun around and around until I was falling over. Then she let me lay down on the couch, and hug a teddy bear, and talk about how I was feeling after doing that.

Is this a therapy practice that actually existed in the 90s? Was it like hypnosis or something?

Unanswered Is there a subreddit for helping decipher short, muffled audio dialogue clips?

I am creating English subtitles and need help transcribing a 5-second distorted dialogue clip from a 2000s TV show. Which subreddit allows posts asking native speakers to listen to short audio clips and decipher hard-to-hear speech?

The camp was horrible and I can’t find any real mentions of it traumatizing anyone anywhere.

Found! Looking to find info on an old video I saw

Upvotes

Hey, I want to make a post asking about a semi disturbing video I saw a while back. I need help finding it and just for someone who has knowledge of what I saw to explain it to me. I don’t want to rewatch this old video just to know what it was.

I’m not sure if it belongs in r/tipofmytongue or on a subreddit better for more creepy stuff. Thanks for the help.

I can even post my story here if someone needs to know the exact details to find a subreddit that will help me, but it is a pretty long story.

Unanswered What is a good subreddit for me to ask for judgement on this situtation im in?

Upvotes

the situation:

"My sisters wedding happened when I was 10. My sister “Clara” (22/F at the time) was very specific with what she wanted for her wedding, not a bridezilla, but she had been through such tough times with her now husband that she wanted this one day to just be perfect. A few months before her wedding, Clara asked me to be her flower girl. I was literally jumping up and down saying yes because I LOVED the idea of throwing flowers everywhere lol. Clara asked me if I would want to wear a white dress for this, since she liked the idea of me looking like a mini her. I literally did not care about what I would be wearing so I said “sure”. My sister then took my measurements and bought me a large petticoat and a cupcake shaped sparkly white dress with flower decor. I was utterly in love with the dress when I saw it and the idea of being a flower girl literally became my number one dream. The wedding rolled around, I threw flowers across the aisle in a big white dress and Clara walked over the flowers in a big white dress. It was perfect.

I recently showed the photos of Clara’s wedding to one of my friends since she was interested in seeing what I looked like when I was younger. She flipped the freak out. She was acting like she was in some moral dilemma in whether or not to call me out on something. I told her to just spill it and she said that I was "horrible for upstaging my sister on her wedding day by wearing such a similar dress to hers" (our dresses were not similar in detail at all, they just both were big and white lol). I explained to my friend that I was a flower girl and that my sister picked the dress for me. She started arguing that maybe my sister was testing me or something?? I dont know, I was sort of tuning her out at that point.

So Reddit, AITA for wearing white to my sisters wedding? I will gladly answer any questions in the comments!"

I am completely willing to change parts of it to fit other subreddits!

Found! I want to survey couples about the following: ‘How do you and your partner make meaningful time for each other?’

Upvotes

My partner and I are exploring how couples create and protect time together, especially when routines, schedules, and other constraints make it difficult.

We’re interested in what genuinely helps make shared time feel intentional, easy to organize, varied, and mutually satisfying.

We created a short survey to learn from real experiences. If you’re open to sharing your perspective, you can participate here: https://tally.so/r/Y57KgJ

We’d also love to hear your thoughts in the comments: what makes it hardest to spend meaningful time together?

Unanswered Looking for a subreddit for people who like discussing random interdisciplinary ideas

Upvotes

Hi! I'm looking for a subreddit where people casually discuss ideas across completely different fields.

I tend to jump between things like technology, software design, worldbuilding, linguistics, speculative biology, sociology, urbanism, etc., and I'm mostly interested in throwing an idea out there, having people question it, improve it, or completely tear it apart.

Basically, I'm not looking for a subreddit about one specific subject, but for curious people who enjoy thinking about weird ideas even when they're outside their usual field.

Does anything like that exist?
