We’re considering buying 150 DVC points direct from Disney at the Polynesian, and we want to make sure we’ve planned out for all our costs. We’re planning one trip a year, or one larger trip every 2 years.

Here’s the most breakdown we’ve been working off of, would love any feedback. 

We’re assuming no incentives and the most conservative interest rates we qualify for, just to be safe. All prices in USD also! 

ETA: We are not financing through Disney, we have an existing LOC at 7% interest!

Up Front Costs: 

• 50% downpayment: $18,225
• Closing costs: $1,800 - might be a high estimate but we’d rather overestimate

Yearly Costs, based on the first year:

• Annual Dues: $1,264.50 (assuming this will go up 6% every year)
• Flights to Disney World: $1,440 (variable, but planned around when we typically take an annual trip)
• Yearly repayment: $4,000 (based on what we can put towards this every month)
• Sorcerer’s Pass: $1,170 (we assumed 6% tax in Florida, but unsure) 

Are there any other costs we haven’t accounted for other than in park spending?

Some other context: We’ve considered Riviera, but my partner really likes the Poly and I don't love the potential resale restrictions on Riviera. We also considered resale, but the math doesn't check out for us without being able to get the annual pass so that's no longer an option.

Hello I’m considering getting a 150 points at SSR the reason being I’m flexible staying in any of the wdw resorts but this one’s the cheapest besides non wdw resorts I would eventually like to stay in all the resorts I can. Is this a good fit

I’m looking at buying a DVC membership to Fort Wilderness. We have four boys (5yo, 4yo, and twin 2yo). We have been taking 1-2 trips to Disney a year and planning to continue. I am most interested in Fort Wilderness, hoping to make my dollar go farthest.

I've been considering DVC for a while. My family goes to Disney at least once a year... usually twice. We've stayed value, moderate, and deluxe before. Ultimately, the math works for us to buy resale based on the vacationing we do. At this time I am not considering direct... the benefits dont outweigh the cost difference for us.

I'm looking for first hand experience using your home resort for network points. I know they say you should buy where you'll stay. My goal is to buy 150 resale points at Saratoga for our first contract. (I already know we will eventually buy more 😆).

We've stayed at Saratoga and like it but it certainly isn't our favorite deluxe. That being said, you cant beat the resale price point and dues and it feels like a good gateway into DVC. We will probably always try to stay at other resorts but would be perfectly happy if we're only able to book at Saratoga sometimes. We're usually fairly flexible with our vacationing plans and would do studios or 1 bedrooms mostly - room views dont matter to us. We've also rented DVC points before so have some basic understanding of what availability looks like etc.

So... my question: what are your first hand experiences using your first contract for networking primarily? Any ah-ha moments you've had? Any tips? Any regrets?

Sharing because I stalked the ROFR posts when I was awaiting our answer! We put in a $95pp bid on a 200 point contract at SSR and I was SO nervous based on looking at the stats on that resort and the price per point we were at.
Thankfully yesterday we got notice that Disney waived ROFR and we are sending closing documents back today!!

I am a recent dvc purchaser at the poly and noticed the the point cost for rooms had gone up by like 4-7 points. I assumed that point cost for rooms were static; how often do we usually see point increases like this?

Hello! We are going to Hilton Head for the first time for a long weekend in November with our four month old, my parents, and my siblings. We have a two bedroom villa I believe with a full kitchen and laundry and all that jazz (can’t go without it on vacation as DVC members since we were little!)

I am looking for any information and tips we need for bringing our baby with. I know we can request a pack n play or mini crib for the room and a high chair but we likely won’t need that yet. Is there anything else they provide for babies? Baby life jackets for the pool? Any tips or ideas of things to do that are baby friendly? And is it generally warm out at that time of year? I know the pools are heated at least. We are from the Midwest so used to the cold for sure.

I've been looking into which CC to pay my contracts (cash, not loans) to maximize my points. There are a lot of old posts on using the Chase Sapphire Reserve, but as of summer 2026 things are different.

When I paid my downpayment through CapitalOne it was marked as Lodging via Disney Resort Hotels. At the time, I needed to pay the downpayment and knew I'd be getting 2x for that at least.

Now that I have had time to figure out how to best maximize my CC points I looked into all my cards. The CSR card requires direct bookings to be classified as Flight or Hotel to be eligible for 4x points. I called Chase to see if Lodging would count as direct hotel purchase, but they weren't too sure and said it had to be classified as a hotel purchase.

I ran a test charge on my CSR card over the phone with Disney Quality Assurance, since as of the 2026 Chase Sapphire Reserve changes they no longer pay out Travel bonus points. My test DVC payment shows up as "DVC Escrow Payment" - classified as Travel which may only yield 1x points per dollar. Sadly, DVC might not meet that 4x criteria on my test payment.

EDIT: Other people have reported Travel category still gets 4x with CSR, so I'm going to wait to see this charge clear and confirm whether it's 4x or 1x points

EDIT: So, my test payment posted and it's still 4x points! As of September 2026, travel categories still get 4x points even if not specifically labeled hotel or flight (as defined in the new summer changes).

I'm going to pay for my contract using my CSR card. No other SUB is a better deal for me at this time based on my existing cards.

Simple question, if I am with my wife and toddler, do we pay a per person points rate or are the points for a couple, and then just the toddler costs the add-on point amounts?

This is going to be a very niche post… For those of you with Chase cards eligible for bonus 10x on Paze purchases, I was able to earn the bonus for earnest money thru Mason Title for the latest resale contract we purchased. They had a Paze payment option for credit card purchases. The Paze bonus credit is capped at 15,000 points a month.

Nice little bonus for an otherwise difficult to point maximize purchase!

Hello! We own 2 contracts at BLT. Just bought our second one and it has 60 points left for 2026 that we plan to roll to 2027. We had already booked April vacation at BLT for 6 days at 224 points so we are trying to modify our vacation to use at least 284 points - though we can use more if we want since we also have 125 points unused for 2027. We are thinking of doing a split stay with an Epcot area hotel. We’ve never done a split stay before so we’d love your advice or lessons learned. We also need help deciding what to do. I’ve made a spreadsheet with some options between BLT resort or theme park view, mixed with BW (boardwalk view) and Beach Club. We’ve stayed at BC before and liked it but never done BW or TP view at BLT. Help us choose! Already checked and availability is there.

Planning a trip for next late August into early September and deciding between Boardwalk and Old Key West.

Group Details -
Me (30F), Husband (31M), our 2 littles (Daughter turning 3 on trip) and Son (18months) and the grandparents, MIL (56), FIL (55) and my mother (51). Need a minmum of 2 bedroom villa, but would love a 3 bedroom. Celebrating our daughters birthday and my inlaws first ever trip to WDW. My mom has been once 13 years ago and my husband and i have been a few times, always staying at POP. We’ll be bringing our double stroller, flying and not planning on renting a vehicle. Staying on property entire trip. Planning on 5 park days with rest mixed into them and park hopper + disney dining plan. Biggest plans for trip are going to be the family/little kid things, taking our time, enjoying our dining plan and spending time together. My in laws love a relaxing trip and bougier experience (although I’ve prepped them for the WDW trip demands lol), my mom has a tight income but willing to pay the approx $450 per person price difference depending on what the group thinks is best.

Boardwalk
Things we love: close proximity to parks (not having to collapse stroller), central location to other resorts to experience other resorts and the appeal of being able to get to and from the hotel quickly from HS & Epcot.

Things we dislike: price for a 3 bedroom is wayyy out of our budget (almost 3x the price of a 2 bedroom), sharing bus stops with other resorts, smaller villas (my mom would have to sleep on the murphy bed in the common area or share a bed with my son and my daughter sleep on the drop down twin bed in the deluxe studio)

Old Key West
Things we love: 3 bedroom villa (ample space for everyone + 4 bathrooms!), more vacationy feel with disney tied in, boat to disney springs is cool too, but id take a boat or closer distance to a park instead

Things we dislike: isolated feel, bus option to all the parks (collapsing stroller), huge resort with multiple bus stops

Any advice, input or experience is welcome. Any questions about our trip plan/group needs to help us figure out whats best, I’m happy to answer. Or if I’m missing a completely different resort, let me know!

Going to WDW this weekend to meet with our DVC sales cast member and move forward with a new Polynesian contract. He offered us a park ticket for a single day which I am very pleasantly surprised and excited about. Said he is going to meet us at the park morning of to get us in.

Has anyone received a comp ticket from DVC? And if so, can we buy Lightning Lanes once we enter the park or can we park hop? He didn't provide any info to link in MDE in advance

What is the best time of year to do Vero beach for chance of good pool/ beach weather and lower noseeums? Considering late May, June, July, Mid Oct, or Thanksgiving week.

I really don’t know if I am going to book for the preview or not. I am new to DVC and it really sounds pretty unique. The points are high but it might be worth it. Is there anyone out there that is definitely going? Why is this a must for you?

Do you have a favorite 2BR Ocean View Villa at Aulani? If so, could you please share the room number and what you like about it?

We bought at the Polynesian. And we should be making our first reservation soon

I am very excited.

Anyone have any preference on the Island Tower or the original DVC rooms at the Poly?
