Insane price gouging

How can restaurants claim to have a buy 1 get 1 free promo and just double the price of the base combo. (For context a regular hsp combo in store is 23 dollars). Is there anything that can be done about this kind of thing?

It’s always the wrong people looking down on others

Upvotes

How could someone working a register, unloading boxes onto shelves, standing at a hostess stand, or working as a waitress think they’re somehow above or better than someone else? And before someone says, “Gig work doesn’t have benefits…” Sure, it doesn’t. But at least I’m not miserable because I have to punch a clock every day and do something I dislike. This whole narrative about Dashers making $2 a trip is absurd. I’m in a big city, and even on a slow day I can make around $22 an hour. On a good day like today , i easily make $30–$40 an hour. That’s above minimum wage, and I have the flexibility to work when I want. I usually do this for the fun of it and the extra money since I rarely hang out. Another thing I don’t like is judging people based on their appearance. Just because someone looks nice while they’re working doesn’t mean anything, that should be the norm. I would always try to look nice when leaving home now I just wear a t-shirt and my hair pulled back when working. Same goes for the dashers who don’t even look in the mirror before leaving home. Why judge them and they’re just trying to make a living for themselves. It’s like you can’t do anything without people judging you, and I’m never being judged by people I would trade lives with.

Restaurant consistently gets order wrong - what is going on?

Upvotes

I DD from Dunkin Donuts a few times a week. At this point 60-70% of my orders are in some way wrong. The issues I've had are

  • apple juice instead of orange juice
  • missing donut
  • missing sandwich
  • missing iced coffee
  • missing hash browns
  • iced coffee with milk when ordered black
  • cheese on egg sandwich when ordered with no cheese
  • wrong type of donut

I am trying to understand what's going on here. I sometimes do walkup or drive thru at the same DD and never have an issue with the order. Is this Dunkin's subtle way of telling me they don't want DD orders? Do the Dunkin employees have some beef with the DDers so they fuck with their orders? Do they have some vendetta against me personally? Are they really just THAT incompetent? Incompetence strikes me as unlikely given these people's job is to get orders right and presumably if they were fucking up all orders on to the degree of 60-70% error rate they would not be in business.

edit: I just learned what OWYA is. I would assume Dunkin don't do OWYA but if so that could make a bit more sense...

Can you order from the 2nd closest location?

Upvotes

There is a 7/11 about a mile from me that is what DoorDash automatically selects when I order from there. One time that store was offline so it let me order from a 7/11 two miles away and there were so many more options and hot food choices.

Is there a way to regularly order from the store two miles away?

refund - ebt food

Upvotes

i just wanna know if anyone has had a similar experience. i use ebt on doordash for kroger.
well on the 26th of august i placed an order. waited order never came. contacted support as it was already 2 hrs past my delivery time. they said they will assign a dasher. i told them that wouldn’t work bc i had to leave for work in 30 minutes and the dasher still needed to shop my order. they told me i could cancel my order and get a refund. order was cancelled. i paid with my ebt card for all the food items and my debit card for some pull ups for my child. i got the refund for the pull ups. but never got the refund for the ebt food items. i’ve contacted door dash and they are just telling me to wait 5-7 business days. it’s been more than 5-7 business days and i still haven’t got my refund. has anyone else had this problem & if so how did you get it resolved?

idk if it matters but im in ga so it would be ga ebt.

Some drivers have difficulty finding my home.

Upvotes

I live in an RV park in every pad has a number like an address. The problem is it's on the power pole at the back of the lot so it's kind of hard to see when you're driving by. I ordered Doordash 4 or 5 times a week. There is an old section and a new section It is kind of like a Figure 8. I live in the old section in in the back. I try to pay attention and when the dasher is driving by I open up my door and wave at them. About once a month I get a dasher who cannot even find the old section and drive by They keep driving around the new section. My question is what does the dasher see, is he looking at the same map that I see on my phone If so he is not following the line to my RV instead, It looks like he is just driving around looking for the address. It always amazes me that if you're that bad at following a line on a map that you would pick a job following a line on a map. All they have to do is get within 100 feet of my RV and I will be waving at them.

Outrageous price markups

Upvotes

Decided maybe I'd order some A&W today.

Went to check the price for delivery. There is straight up a $5 price markup between ordering for delivery through doordash and ordering through their app. So, obviously I'll be ordering through their app instead.

Same service, you get delivery through both. That is absolutely insane. How is it even legal.

I expect some kind of a markup, but the menu price for a burger that is $8.50 in store for instance is $9.50 on their app for delivery. That's a more expected markup. Paying $14 for something that's normally $8.50 is insane work.

Are the delivery instructions easily available to drivers from the beginning? Do drivers even read them, right away?

Upvotes

I live in a gated apartment complex that has a main entrance with a callbox and a resident-only side entrance without a callbox. I pinned my exact location so that it would be easier to find inside the complex, but because I'm close to the side entrance, the GPS instructions seem to route drivers to the side entrance where they inevitably get confused.

I've tried writing instructions to initially ignore the GPS route and go to a different road after which the route will update correctly. Yet, very few drivers follow my instructions, then send me messages to ask questions that I've already answered in the instructions.

I've tried things like "do not enter from B Road, go to My Apartments main entrance on A Road". They inevitably get on B Road.

Dashers, do you have any recommendations? Should I delete the pin and let them figure out where my building is using the (awful) signs? Should I give exact directions from the side entrance (that they probably won't read)?

Find me a lower ball offer than this

Post image
Upvotes

No wonder my acceptance rate is 10%. For those who pays a premium to order from dash. This is why your food takes forever to come if you don't tip up front. I know that doordash isn't good first job but it is decent side hustle for those idiots to tell drivers to stop bitching. I wouldn't order doordash or ubereats considered how they charge a premium for service from customers but don't pay to allow drivers to offer a premium service.

I was dumb enough to be paying this stupid subscription for so long without really caring to look too deep into it as long as I got the "benefits"

My cousin asked to order on my app today to get the discount but when she went to pay she said "why is it cheaper on mine?"

We compared both apps side by side.. same address, same store, same delivery window, etc and the price was still different

what kind of scam is this 😭 I'm definitely ending my subscription. I'm so annoyed

21+ ID, issued a replacement. Found old ID. Will the old ID still scan if not expired?

Upvotes

Has anyone tried this? I got a new ID but left it somewhere, but want to order DoorDash lol. I found my old one and it's not expired, but I don't know if it will be blocked or become invalid. I really just want to use it for Doordash and not have an awkward encounter at the door.

Doordash not issuing refunds for poor-quality food

Upvotes

This morning I had some shrimps which I ordered from Hy-vee on Doordash. They smelled very unpleasantly when I was deveining them. I thought ok I should not waste them, and thirty minutes after having them, my stomach hurt and I had diarrhea.

I contacted Doordash for support, but they wouldn't issue me refunds because I didn't go to the hospital. What a good reason. I tried to show them photos of the remaining shrimps which I ended up throwing away, but dang, the conversation was closed.

I have ordered from Doordash for a few years, and had stomach problems two to three times before, when they DID issue refunds. And now they don't? I am wondering what makes their attitudes change. I am even considering using other apps instead (If I am allowed to ask this on this subreddit, any recommendations?)

Avoid shrimps from Hy-vee at all costs. They are not worth $13.99 per lb.

Order likely stolen, no answers from anybody

Upvotes

I want to preface this by saying I do DoorDash driving myself, and it irks me to no end when scummy drivers pull scummy crap and make everyone look bad. I ordered some Taco Bell through the Taco Bell app through delivery because I had rewards and didn’t want to drive myself because I’m not feeling the best. This order takes almost a whole hour to arrive. Whatever, it’s Labor Day, places and roads are probably a lot busier than normal. Any time I order I always select leave at door because I know the driver has to take a picture for proof of delivery. Well, to my surprise, they decided to mark it as “handed order to customer” so they could bypass having to take a photo. Walked around my apartment complex to see if they dropped it off anywhere else, and it’s nowhere to be found. The worst part? I reached out to DoorDash and they said I had to reach out to Taco Bell since the order was placed through them. Reached out to Taco Bell and they said I had to reach out to DoorDash since they delivered the order. I also tried to call the driver, would always get one ring, and then they’d decline the call. They also ignored my texts. Sadly, it’s looking like I’m just out $30 and no food. Hate scummy drivers making the rest of us look bad.

Why. Why doother dashers do this in LA?

Upvotes

Why do some other dashers in LA just leave food outside of APARTMENT BUILDINGS?! Like not even outside the main door. Literally just on the sidewalk?

I used to dash a lot and now I just do it occasionally and I cannot tell you how many times I've literally WATCHED dashers set and order on the side of the apartment building and then just leave. And the wild part is every single time I've seen it I've picked it up and brought it inside to deliver it to the person and it's the same story. They show me where they gave the dasher instructions on where to go and everything and it's like they don't even try. Do these people have trouble reading? I'll add I'm legally blind (that means I have very low vision but can still see just good enough and baring very few places that were exceptionally like a hole in the wall, I've rarely had an issue ever dropping off an order.

testers needed

Upvotes

Hey Dashers. Does anyone know how to get testers for a new gig driver app? It doesn't really compete with Doordash. It actually makes using Doordash easier. But, whenever I try to talk about it and get testers, this subreddit marks my post as spam. It makes sense, but I really think this app could help us delivery drivers. I've completed about 5,000 deliveries and rideshare rides. The app I'm working on just naturally came from thinking about the features I'd find useful.

Unicorn day for me!!Earnings

I had to post this! In my 4-year DoorDash career, I’ve never made $200 in one day. The stats were AMAZING! Banger after banger after banger order. 🔥

I normally never accept BJ’s orders, but I had to take this one. It was 41 items… terrible experience though! 😭 I had to find every single item myself because the locations listed in the app were completely wrong.

I only took the last order because it was $27 for 13 miles. The BJ’s order basically paid for their tips. 😂

That $74 order was the highest-paying order I’ve ever gotten!

Total mileage from the start of my shift to the end: 73 miles. Plus another 15 miles to get home.

Zero downtime. Just nonstop orders.

$200+ day! 🙌🔥

Just a rant

As a background I haven’t used door dash as a customer in at least a year. My house doesn’t offer it since I’m in the country, but tomorrow I have a lot of appointments with Mayo so I got a hotel in town and decided to door dash. I did a double dash one for a target order that was great 5 stars no issues the second part was a Wendy’s order and I noticed immediately it was the wrong door sent a text to the dasher and immediately called they laughed and said “my bad I read the room number wrong” which wouldn’t be a huge deal but then I walked to where he said it was and of course it wasn’t there so I reported it on the app and they declined to even redeliver it so called door dash support. After fighting to get a person and not AI the person admitted it was definitely different doors and that they’d escalate it they put me on hold for a total of 20 minutes to tell me the escalation team will be a few hours before they can do anything. Obviously I know that means I just need to dispute it with my bank. It’s just annoying that they won’t make a mistake right. Here’s the doors to show it’s obviously not the same place. It’s also slightly annoying that someone like this got a tip they clearly didn’t deserve.

What would you guys think about an app where ai predicts what you want to eat and orders the food for you?

Upvotes

I am curious what you guys think about this idea.
Basically it is an app where all you do is press a button (and let us know how much you want to spend) and our AI algorithm will pick a meal and order it for you it’s a suggestion app

Dashers: Is There Anything I Can Do To Give Clearer Directions?

Upvotes

I live in an apartment building in a downtown area that is surrounded by other apartment buildings and hotels. I have a disability so I request in the arrival instructions for the Dasher to bring my order up to my apartment and hand it to me. 99.9% will, but there are some who unassign. Since the building can be hard to find, I reach out to each Dasher in the chat to give an entry code for the building along with a photo of the building.

I just ordered from Wingstop and the Dasher messaged to see where they should park, even though I gave clear directions. 5 minutes pass and no communication, so I check in and they tell me they are in the elevator. Then I get another message 30 seconds later asking for the entry code (that I had put in the chat) to unlock the elevator so they can come up to deliver the order and get the delivery pin.

Am I missing something here? I thought my directions were very clear. I try not to get frustrated as I know the service is a luxury, but I’ll admit I was pretty annoyed.
