At this point, we all deserve World of Warcraft: Reforged.

u/GreenLightt 13h ago

How dare you

u/a_simple_ducky 13h ago

That's low bro

u/d_Inside 51m ago

No we deserve World of Warcraft Classic : Reforged (50€ stand alone buy + subscription)

u/yestaiga 14h ago

The hype cycle on this when it pops is going to be cataclysmic, people are so insanely overhyped on nothing but a single picture and a code name.

u/VintageZero 13h ago

Its just been fanfic for months

u/Sweetsire 7h ago

Can't wait to play my 2 headed ogre blade master. Or maybe I'll roll a Satyr on the 3rd faction lead by illidan, with satyrs, naga, blood elves, and broken

u/kllllghh 6h ago

I heard the two headed ogre will be a coop character where each player controls a head, I look forward to my head being a tinker.

u/richterlevania3 7h ago

Don't give me hope

u/GlacierSourCreamCorn 8h ago

Well I mean there’s actual code pushed to Blizzard’s CDN so there’s obviously something cooking no?

u/Great_Fox_623 7h ago

This sub is going to be delicious next week. My popcorn is ready for the inevitable melt down.

u/Wolfeehx 1h ago

Is next week blizzcon or something. I’ve got a lot of RL stuff on at the moment so out of the loop.

u/BumpFugget 1h ago

This weekend

u/Anni_Moasala 12h ago

Ignoring all the clues and evidence leading up to this?

u/Ok-Brother-8295 4h ago

I've been excited by the prospect of an alternative to TBC ever since TBC veered off course from Vanilla.

u/Trisstricky 15h ago

im so happy im not only a fan of wow, but games in general. WoW has sucked many times through the years, I'm ready to be disappointed once more and move on

u/Cliepl 14h ago

even if it sucks, at least launch will be fun for a couple weeks, maybe more

u/a_simple_ducky 13h ago

Launch is always lit

u/misterrpg 14h ago

Very true. I know I'm going to hate Classic+ but I'll 100% play the launch at a least. lol

u/lurvd 2h ago

I hope they realize Classic does a lot more lifting than the Plus.

u/thefuturebaby 9h ago

Yeah I'm just looking for that 2 week dopamine in my veins

u/Shoddy-Marsupial301 4h ago

yeah exactly

u/strange1738 14h ago

I just switched to ARPGs. Poe2 is a lot of fun

u/Security_Ostrich 11h ago

Poe seems like it could be cool but something about the top down camera irritates me to no end. I can deal with it in rts as long as I can change the angle and zoom but arpgs tend to feel claustrophobic to me.

u/okaybutdontlook 10h ago

Unironically half the players want to play wow from the Poe camera angle anyway hahaha

u/vc93 12h ago

And yet here you are in this sub

u/strange1738 12h ago

Because I don’t play anymore I have to leave the subreddit? I’ve been playing wow since 2004, when did you start playing?

u/shaun2312 14h ago

I've resubbed this patch after leaving 2 weeks into the expansion and I can confirm, retail is no longer for me

u/dssurge 12h ago

What do you mean you don't like doing an un-ending checklists of tasks for it all to be meaningless outside of the "collections" and "transmog" tabs every 4 months?

u/Montegomerylol 5h ago

Accomplishing things is fun. The problem is that I don't feel like I'm really accomplishing things in retail.

u/DoctorWafle 1h ago

MMOs are only fun if you plan to be playing in the future. The moment you dont plan on playing tomorrow, why play today.

u/VPN__FTW 9h ago

Isn't that pretty much the same for most expansions in WoW? Once the new content launches the old stuff becomes irrelevant.

u/Sweetsire 7h ago

On classic hardcore the only time what I've done becomes irrelevant is when I have to go agane.

u/Llovio_cuatro_anos 6h ago

Or when you get bored of it since it’s always the same

u/Noritzu 1h ago

Every run is a different adventure with different builds and meeting different people. The way an MMO should be.

u/SlipperySlimyTerry40 9h ago

It was at least leveling content pre-shadowlands and had meaning that way. Nowadays a new player could literally just never go to outland or Northrend if they have no interest in grinding something specifically tied to those places.

u/Psychological-Ad-946 9h ago

Leveling in the same opening 1-2 zones of each expanion was better than picking one specific expansion to level in?

Imagine if new players had to play the game in linear order, people complain about it in Final fantasy, the wow experiance would be much shittier, most new players would lose interest before leaving hellfire.

Pretending leveling had more "meaning" pre shadowlands is silly.

u/SlipperySlimyTerry40 8h ago

I didn't say any of this, I didn't even say leveling had meaning before. All I said was that old expansion content had meaning as leveling content, not that leveling was more meaningful.

u/labowsky 6h ago

Yes, tbc also was the start of your checklist dailies you needed to do when you logged in.

u/thedizls 36m ago

It's just how seasonal games work. The only thing different is that in wow your previous season gold/mats and gear gives you a quickstart in the fresh season

u/Llovio_cuatro_anos 6h ago

You clearly haven’t played retail since WoD if you think it’s like this

u/Great_Fox_623 11h ago

I’m a fan of the bengals (wowclassic). The bengals have a heated rivalry with the Steelers (retailwow). The only problem with this rivalry is that the Steelers don’t even know there is a rivalry. They never even think about us. This is what this sub looks like. Retail has no idea this rivalry exists.

u/Riavan 10h ago

The retail wow players are wine mums collecting mounts who push their 1 button rotation while doing their weekly chores and barely play a game.

Of course they don't know or care. They can barely read.

u/currentlyg00ning 9h ago

one button rotation rich coming from a classic andy

u/Riavan 4h ago

Not a classic andy. I don't actively play classic. I played every retail expansion from the start and I can't stand them anymore. I played sod and want more.

u/Llovio_cuatro_anos 6h ago

Weekly chores = raid logging to do BWL for the 700th time because your brain can’t handle anything harder than “maybe don’t stand in the fire”

u/Riavan 4h ago

Didn't say I like playing classic either. I'm a sod enjoyer and will be a classic plus one. I think it's the right balance between the two.

u/TheFoxInSocks 8h ago

Impressed a classic-only player knows what "rotation" means!

I'd say something about your "1" key being worn to a nub, but you're probably a clicker.

u/ModularMode 13h ago

Does r/wow even care? Pretty sure the Retail Andies don't care

u/karspearhollow 12h ago

Ah, the ongoing war between r/classicwow and r/wow that r/wow doesn't know it's in

u/Anni_Moasala 12h ago

They can’t seem to stop talking about how easy classic is and how much better retail is

u/Colyer 12h ago

Only when confronted about it by a Classic player. They typically just play the game they like (and don't feel they need to justify it as it's already considered the default).

u/thefuturebaby 9h ago

Is classic easier lol?

u/mushyman10 7h ago

Yes, its way easier, still cant wait for wotlk

u/Glad-Low-1348 6h ago

Yes, it's a lot easier. This should go without saying, but that's fine.

A lot of Classic's "difficulty" comes from friction or tedium.

u/SnooWords1612 5h ago

its a cakewalk, yes. Its just slower and more tedious, but definitely not harder by any comparison.

u/Oddloaf 4h ago

classic is a pretty easy game. The vast majority of classics difficulty comes from social friction and tedium

u/SnooBunnies9694 12h ago

Most of my retail guild is excited for it. Most retail players don’t hate classic. It’s really only classic players that have this weird insecurity about another game existing.

u/Stormik 6h ago

Yep. Textbook case of little brother syndrome.

u/lurvd 2h ago

Obviously due to retail being the literal axe to classic's neck. Now that Classic+ is coming out that might change, but he previous 20 years still exist.

u/mmmmiksu 8h ago

it's because back when classic wasn't a thing yet, it was quite common to ridicule the classic community and laugh at anyone asking for vanilla

there was a whole thing called "the wall of no" (reasons why blizz would never do classic) that was posted on the forums anytime someone made a thread about legacy servers to gaslight the classic community on how it would never happen

u/SnooBunnies9694 5h ago

Yeah but most classic players are so cringey and soap boxey that they kinda deserve to get made fun of a little bit.

u/Pink_her_Ult 12h ago

No. Retail lives rent free in this subs head.

u/Anni_Moasala 11h ago

Go to /r/wow then

u/Riavan 10h ago

It's because a lot of us were retail players. Now it's a shadow of its former self, both gameplay wise and story wise.

u/Glad-Low-1348 6h ago

Story wise sure, even though the story was "great" at best in Wrath/MoP/Legion but gameplay wise? Clearly haven't played Retail.

u/Riavan 4h ago

I have. I can one button rotation the highest level delve like the rest of you. While doing my 10000 chores for the week for multiple currencies each season.

u/Anni_Moasala 8h ago

Crazy how in the classic subreddit this is now an opinion that gets downvoted

u/TheFoxInSocks 8h ago

I suspect many of us play both and get tired of the silly tribalist viewpoints.

u/Riavan 4h ago

Just a lot of retailers around I guess.

u/imaUPSdriver 13h ago

They will care if WoW 2 merges retail and classic

u/Thanag0r 13h ago

And will be 100% retail.

u/CompetitionAway7535 15h ago

I sincerelly hope C+, Camelot, WoW2 or Forever no matter how we call it, will be Deadpool in this Spidey meme context.

u/Thanag0r 13h ago

No, retail doesn't care about it. Midnight is actually a good game.

u/Great_Fox_623 11h ago

It’s been a pretty fun expansion.

u/FTTLegasy 6h ago

Be that as it may, I have seen many a retailer on the forums complaining that Classic+ isn't made for Classic players, or more specifically people who like Era. Which baffles me, people can like Era and something else.

u/Glad-Low-1348 6h ago

I think when people say C+ isn't for Era Players they mean the super purists who just want Fresh again.

u/Anni_Moasala 12h ago

LOL

u/lmay0000 10h ago

Content too tough ferya

u/Riavan 10h ago

Can one button your way past 10+ keys. Unless your in a mythic raiding guild nothing is hard in retail. It's just a chorathon.

u/Glad-Low-1348 6h ago

10+ keys aren't hard though. Like literally.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Retail literally has next to no chores nowadays. You fuckers didn't play the game since Cata/MoP/WoD when there were actual chores. You can easily Raidlog and perform well gear-wise and there's literally no rep grind/daily bullshit you have to do to progress.

u/Riavan 4h ago edited 4h ago

I have, Ive played every expansion including vanilla. It's more of a chorathon than ever.

Multiple currencies to collect to upgrade gear (on top of the content to get the actual gear). Weekly tasks to do to fill out your vault. Tasks to get keys for chests in delves. Weeklies to visit houses for currency or if you like housing weird weekly things to do. Rotatining dailies/bigger weekly events with factions to get rep and currency. That weird hunt thing which is also a weekly slog. Delves, mythic, dungeons to get actual gear or your "journey/progress" up each season.

There's never been more daily/weekly tasks. Yeah you don't have to do it all tos stay competitive. But you gotta do some lol.

Legit feels like a mobile phone game scientifically designed entirely to keep people's attention with all that tasks and currencies while keeping retention as high as possible with minimal content.

u/Warmanee 9h ago

Why do Retail players always have to tell themselves their game is so amazing right now.

u/Glad-Low-1348 6h ago

Because everyone who doesn't play it keeps saying it's shit so someone who actually plays it has to say they're having fun to remind everyone it's not shit.

u/Warmanee 1h ago

I’m all for calling retail good but nothing about midnight so far has been good except player housing.

u/Llovio_cuatro_anos 6h ago

Been pretty amazing since dragon flight, was really only bad during shadowlands and WoD

u/Riavan 10h ago

Lololol.

u/ozcartwentytwo 12h ago

lol

u/Thanag0r 12h ago

I know, hard to imagine someone playing WoW and being happy about it.

u/lib___ 4h ago

it will be an unplayable mess. the reaction of delusional ppl on this sub will be hilarious

u/CommunicationThat534 11h ago

Make the left one "Wow Classic Anniversary" and you've got a winrar is you.

u/Great_Fox_623 7h ago

Winrar? Bro what?

u/heynoswearing 5h ago

Its so funny watching these threads because actually C+ is made for me and I know im gonna have a fantastic time

u/Sakkreth 3h ago

I know it's not for me, since I'm pvp player first. No expectations.

u/1Calm3 1h ago

Sometimes I ask myself whether the Reddit communities are representative for the wow community at large, or if they are representative for standard Reddit users.

u/no_shoes_are_canny 9h ago

I can't wait to see some sort of new Woaw game entirely that's not being made for Classic, SoD, or Retail, but catered to growing a new audience. Gotta grow those subs, baby.

u/Xae1yn 8h ago

Time for the wow extraction shooter.

u/no_shoes_are_canny 8h ago

CS: WoW. Warsong Gulch is the new Dust.

More realistically - a new style MMO (possibly console/mobile) WoW with a timeskip back to WC3 that will be the on-board point for new players who want to try WoW after watching the new Arthas tv show.

u/disaar 8h ago

Wow mobile.

u/NRTsunami 11h ago

Calling it now classic + will not be remotely discussed

u/misterrpg 15h ago

Classic+ will be another version of Retail.

u/Asjutton 15h ago

What if Retail was the real classic+ all along

u/cbusmatty 15h ago

Classic+ will be made on the clsssic ability framework but made with new horizontal content and patches

u/misterrpg 14h ago

I wish I was this hopeful. lol

u/Difficult-Leg-9023 14h ago

i think it will be made for the spidey on the left because his name is classic which is similar to classic + but it doesn’t have the plus so i’m not sure

u/Murky-Tiger-9675 4h ago

Classic+ will suck ass more like classic- lmaoo retail is king !

u/BeauShowTV 14h ago edited 12h ago

Crazy considering we have zero information about it.

u/Cutemudskipper 8h ago

If you haven't been paying attention at all, sure. Blizzard themselves have said that it's going to be set in the original azeroth and developed with classic design philosophies. We also have teasers from SoD for things like Undead Paladin/Dwarf Shaman

u/Gemall 4h ago

Classic design philosophies like Undead paladin/Dwarf Shaman

u/Cutemudskipper 4h ago

Yeah, because classic design philosophy means that nothing can change ever and it has to stay like era with just a few new dungeons and raids.

u/TheYoonz 11h ago

Ngl I only play Midnight for the story, and I did the first raids. I can't be bothered with the never-ending dailies.

u/Glad-Low-1348 6h ago

"Never-ending dailies"? I've been playing since launch, so a kind request.

Can you point me to these fucking dailies? Where are they? Under my bed? I haven't done a single daily thing since the expansion launched and my guild is on Heroic Ula'tek.

u/Riavan 10h ago

Damn was that story bad.
